This was a good one!  There was tea spilled and Alan surprised Brooke with special guest Tom Wiggin. Brooke and Tom took over and it was terrific!

At the end talking about her other projects.

Director Maria Wagner and KM getting into it with a director. I don't recall if it was Wagner or not.

Favoritism on the set by the directors and producers at the time.

No way!  I'm sure Locher is a nice person, but his interviewing style puts me off, quite frankly.  Plus, I'm still not over the technical issues he encountered during his interview w/ Patrick Mulcahey, lol.

KM?

Yes...A director embarrassed Kelly in front of the cast about her acting and she later told the director off and told them never to do that again.

Their chemistry was apparent in the live chat. Tom wasnt happy Brooke was let go. I'm sure he was professional but didn't care for Sherri. Brooke did mention she had trouble remembering her lines. She mentioned A new year's party she had where Allyson Rice Taylor accidentally discovered her way of learning her lines.

She mentioned that she got a call from producers that they were casting Sam again. Brooke thought she was being asked to return. No they wanted her to audition again. She pretty much told them hell no......lol...that they could look at her 3 years of reel they had of her work. Everyone in the chat knew she was referring to FMB.

She seemed upbeat when she started but once Marland passed and the new EP took over....she knew they weren't invested in Royce, Sam and Lucinda as a family.

The backstage stuff I had never heard before with the directors and the favoritism of cast members over others. The set must have got toxic after Marland and Calhoun left.

Tom and Brooke discussed a lot things. Liz was talked about. Terry Lester was briefly discussed.....Claire Bloom and the actor who played her father.

Wow. I had never heard this. I guess it could make sense as Jane was leaving GH around this point and she ended up as a producer on Loving - the only time I remember her working in that capacity (I may be wrong).

I would have been interested in seeing Jane in the part...but imagine Terry Lester, Jane Elliot, Liz Hubbard AND Mary Kay Adams all in the same family?

Typical of daytime, especially P&G, to ask Brooke to audition again. AW asked Ellen Wheeler to audition again for Vicky/Marley. She did and they still didn't hire her.

I didn't hate Sherri but she was much colder compared to Brooke and the character had no inner life.

I do get the sense the atmosphere changed for the worse after Calhoun left - I think we got some hints of that with HBS, among others.

Brooke had nothing but great things to say about Caso. But I think things slowly starting changing during his time as EP because Mark Lewis mentioned it in his interview with Alan.

Once Valente took over everything really fell apart.

That would've been golden.

There was so much more talk about Benjamin, Ellen Dolan and her favorite Scotty Bryce.

That's why I told Khan to watch it.

When the tea spilled Alan was screwed and couldn't stop it

Somehow i missed your post.

Alan had technical difficulties with Brooke's interview too.

  it started an hour late.

Kelly Menighan... Emily #3.  Director Maria Wagner through the loud speaker told Kelly her acting pretty much sucked in front of the cast. After taping she confronted Wagner in her office and told her to never do that again.

Well damn. I didn't know that ATWT had backstage drama like that. I always thought the P&G shows were tamer than all the other shows, but I guess not. And that's jacked up that a director embarrassed KM over a speaker like that.

@DRW50 thanks for that nugget. I did not know that Jane was originally supposed to be Samantha. Her and La Hubbard and the room together would've been EPIC. I do agree that no one could write for Lucinda like Marland did. She was his muse and force multiplier and Lucy got things jumped off in Oakdale.

    • My comment has nothing to do with cast resentment, but does relate to the Finland location shoot: It may be a coincidence, but Jim Matthews died in Finland in 1982.  Hugh Marlowe's final episode was in April 1982, but the character probably didn't die untll May or June. (I'm unable to find the character's date of death, only the date of Marlowe's final episode). SInce Jim and Rachel had very little interaction after around 1975, it is unlikely Jim's death in Finland had any connection to Rachel's potential visit, but the choice to have Jim die in that location at that time is a head-scratcher.
    • I totally understand your sloths concern about it and I agree with you. Let’s hope the show plays it’s cards right.    Further comments about the last few episodes: - I liked that one of the attendees was filming the scene. That’s realistic. I wonder if the writers will follow up with that.  - Martin and Smitty trying to drag Leslie out was very heteronormative, so perfectly in line with them two as characters lol.    As for the future: it’s obvious the Duprees will come to accept Eva one way or another, but the rivalry with Kay should be here for the long term   On the topic of acting: the only bad actors I’m seeing are Ted and Derek. Tomas hasn’t proven to be either good or bad, so far, but he’s certainly mediocre and uncharismatic. He sucks the energy out of the scenes and I don’t see any couple of women ever vying for him.
    • I’m trying to think which actors VW were working with at the time, and none of them had been there for a while. Even like Mac and Ada didn’t have that big of a part in Rachel’s storyline.  And Jamie was involved with all that movie stuff.
    • Brooke did ads before ATWT too. That probably helped get her the job. After ATWT she seemed to branch more into hosting, along with ads.  I think I saw Kelley in an ad or two, but you're right she wasn't on as much.
    •   Thanks for sharing these. I wonder if Charles might have been in the running for Adam. I know Preacher was a bit of a bad boy at times on EON, but Neal seemed to be a step down, and Robert Lupone had played a similar part on AMC. Given the huge cast turnover at this point I wonder who thought they had been there long enough to go.  Laura Malone/Chris Rich would get a remote within the next year.
    • Interesting.  It seems to allude to that statement that Warren Burton made around that time about some AW actors getting special treatment.  I wonder who was resentful about not getting to go.
    • Good morning, boys!  I figured that it was time that our Gio was introduced into the hotness thread

    • Under all of Madonna's social media today there is this wave of negative, toxic, absurd comments by Lady Gaga fans telling her how Gaga surpassed her in concert in Copacabana. I mean... Who the hell cares? Why are these fan communities so freaking toxic??? I'm sure Madonna doesn't care... But still. Have some respect for M. Leave her social media alone. Go cheer Gaga and be happy. Why come and spew hate on M??? Crazy world.
    • FYI, again, Ruth/Letitia is not in either of these 2 episodes. So that concludes the 4 episodes I had from Nov. 1983. I don't have the October episodes.
    • Eddie has begun uploading the 1990 episodes. I'm so happy about that. I was mindfully taking a break till there's plenty of episodes I can binge watch when I feel like it. Now that 1989 is complete... I can't wait to press play on February 1989 and resume where I left off.
