I'm a fan of the Angie/Krystal friendship, and I'm glad we got those scenes today. They really came out of the blue, someone must have spoken up. Little things like that I really appreciate. That gives me hope that AMC will do something similar with JR and Kendall, sort of have them start to interact again. Their relationship is a little more complex though, and they have a lot of things to sort out to get even a little close to how they used to be.

We are seeing so much Jessie/Angie and I love it, AMC is taking this step by step. All of Angie's scenes are so long and drawn out...it is great. It is starting to get a little repetitive though, I am glad the show is inching closer to David finding out about what's wrong with Angie.

Increasingly more scenes involving Natalia and Frankie to. I am excited about Natalia the most, it seems Shannon Kane is done filming SWAT 2 and she's fully available to the show now, I am really hoping they do something more with her...

Rylee in full force today...I am really curious what AMC will do about this. We have Madison leaning towards both Ryan and Frankie. Will it be Madison/Frankie/Randi or Madison/Ryan/Greenlee? I'd honestly prefer Madison/Frankie/Randi, but that would leave the door right open for Rylee to reunite...ugh.

Shannon Kane is  Cornelius and Shannon seem like real life brother and sister. Always love their honest and playful dialogue  even though Frankie was lying his butt off about not being attracted to Madison. I see him cheating or coming close to it with Mads.

Me too and yes, I have seen their scenes!

I can't believe it either, but I think it was more of a rant against Kreizman than a complaint about Randi. As if Kreizman were the sole headwrtier and to blame for everything anyone dislikes.

I hope you're right. Madison has made Ryan tolerable for the first time in years and it would suck if they were wasted for another Rylee reunion.

I'd love for JR/Kendall to renew their friendship. Annie certainly wouldn't be happy about it! I'd actually like to see Marissa replaced in this story by Greenlee since she has a past with Scott and it would really annoy Annie to have to live with her.

The Frankie/Natalia scenes were great.

I'm so ready for David to figure out why Angie wouldn't look at him. I think the repetitiveness I was complaining about the other day is ending and this story is about to move forward!

lol

ITA. I don't think that most AMC fans are going to care one way or another if Randi/Frankie break up, even if it's because Frankie cheats on her with Madison. They are not a SuperCouple, and up until recently Frankie was barely shown. At one point it seemed like he was on like once every two weeks.

Plus cheating happens all the time on soaps, and a lot of people cheat, "heroes" "villians", etc... If Tad/Dixie survived all the times they cheated on each other, then Frankie will survive if he cheats on Madison. I wouldn't mind if Frankie/Randi grew apart, divorced and then he got with Madison. But I don't think that it will be the end of his character if he cheats on her. I don't think that most people are going to care too much about it one way or the other.

I have seen some people criticizing him,but most of them are fans of Frankie/Randi as a couple, and they seem to care about Randi more than they do Frankie. They didn't seem to care a whole lot about Frankie back when Pratt was still writing and he said something along the lines of re-evaluating Frankie/Randi as a couple, and possibly making changes due to that. It seemed like there was a time, when Pratt was thinking of breaking up Frankie/Randi and Frankie's head was possibly on the chopping block, not Randi.

It looked like they were possibly toying with the idea of getting rid of him, during the storyline about him going back to Iraq. And that's a shame, because IMO, Cornelius is a talented actor. If anyone from the pairing has to be let it should be Randi. She's not good for Frankie, and their pairing is one of the reasons why he has gotten very little air time.

Neither.

It's good that AMC has two 40+ Women as friends (and Bobbie Eakes is awesome) but it's pretty clear they're friends cause there aren't too many Women in that age range.

As far as Kendall/GreenPea that ship sailed a LONG time ago.

I kinda agree with that. I thought it was so refreshing to see them yesterday bc I realized that Angie had no female friends. Basically Natalia has been her only support and she's a daughter. The only other women in Angie's age group is Liza (whom she hates for good reason) and Erica (depending on where you put her). Angie has nothing in common with Erica and arent even in the same social circle. Krystal is her only peer adn they at least have an established connection via Tad. I definetly buy them more as best friends considering they are 2 mature women who genuinely seem to care about each other, unlike Kendall and Greenlee who are beyond ridiculous at this point considering how many times they've tried to destroy the others' life.

Frankie's been used more in the last month than he has in the entire year. Ever since the move to LA, he's barely been on, and mainly in the background to fill up the hospital and Hubbard family scenes. He's finally getting scenes which revolve around him and he seems to be getting a story, even if it isnt much. If it takes teasing him with Madison, then go for it. He and Randi together are kinda dull at this point and they need something to spice them up. I like that they are taking their time developing something so it doesnt feel rushed if and when he does do something with Madison. Im already buying the issues in his marriage with Randi bc its happening subtely with a natural progression. He can definetly survive an affair bc other characters have who have done WORSE than cheat on their spouse. Baby stealing, rape, murder, anyone? I dont see why Frankie is automatically doomed for getting a little action on the side. IA on Cornelius. Im a fan and I look forward to seeing more of him.

I would love for Angie to have other friends but 40+ Women on AMC are scarce.

Opal would make a great confidant for Angie but she already plays that part for Erica (and AMC doesn't like to utilize her more than Kooky Aunt), Angie & Liza will never be friends & outside of rescuing Madison like you said she doesn't have much common with Erica.

They're tolerable cause Debbi & Bobbie work well together but that's it & to be fair most Women in Pine Valley don't have friends (or at least consistent ones) beyond Erica & Opal.

He shouldn't be but he's Black so he will.

Look at Greg & Shaun on OLTL or Justus on GH or Reggie on AMC or Neil/Malcolm/Devon on Y&R or Marcus on B&B.

He's already a prop for his non acting wife but to have him cheat (better chemistry or not) on her & ruin what's been presented as a relatively solid marriage with a white girl who only sees him as a second choice?

I agree, it was great to see more of them and sibling relationship. Hopefully their scenes don't come to a halt again.

Ugh I know. Their almost kiss made cringe. Agreed, Randi wouldn't stand a chance anyway and it's obvious that they're headed for a Rylee reunion leaving David and Madison to bite the dust. They'll probably finally do Madison/Frankie and Liza/David.

Agreed! ^_^ Shannon is such a great actress and hopefully she'll be on more with Frankie and others around the canvas. I love how tight Natalia and Frankie are (especially form how they started out lol) and how playful they always are with each other. Yeah it was so clear that Frankie was lying. He wouldn't take his eyes off Madison.

I've wanted them to do Frankie and Madison for a while. I would find it more offensive if, in this day and age, they simply slotted them into the same tired Jesse/Jenny role which to me, while that was a fine friendship, always smacked of coming out of the institutional racism of the times. If he hadn't been black, they would've fucked.

It would be a better storyline and a fairer fight, and a better portrayal of a young black couple, if they would recast Randi with someone solid and give the character a fighting chance. But as it is, we've got Denise Vasi.

I actually like the possibilities of that story and of the Marissa/JR/Annie/Scott quad. They're both fairly tritely-written tales but they are holding my interest because of the simple, classic domestic drama ley lines in them that go back to very old soap opera. It's just the kind of stuff soaps should do, even if both Marissa and Randi are awful actors and poor Adam Mayfield is clearly dunzo when this ends.

I like the DM/DW performances but I find the Angie-baby story a bit silly. And I think Bobbie Eakes should be relegated to the role of lovable bar floozy, though I like her. Krystal is pointless other than her friendship with Caleb (who I actually like now, and I've always loved Michael Nouri). Any other role Krys currently fills on the canvas should be taken by Dixie.

While I think it's very stupid of them to do a Cortlandt/Chandler feud with Adam gone, I like aspects of that tale. And I think the show is shifting and Ryan, Kendall, Zach, Greenlee, etc. all seem very out of place on it.

    • Very true...but TPTB all were desperate to get into prime time or films and couldn't, so they looked down on their own industry and tried to infuse themes that just didn't work in soaps. I would have thought after 9/11 the shows would have gone out of their way to provide that warmth and comfort that the audience wanted, and to bring old viewers back. Budget cuts? Just bring back kitchen sets, both ATWT and GL got rid of those besides one each..(the Snyders and the Bauers) You don't need super fancy sets if you have the writing.

    • LY has a job on another show. She's going to be on the Legally Blonde prequel "Elle"
    • From what I can put together, the 1980s had several actors with interrupted runs. Michael Zaslow: 1971-1980, 1989-1997 Maureen Garrett: 1976-1980, 1988-?, ?-end Christopher Bernau: 1977-1984, 1986-1988 Peter Simon: 1981-1984, 1986-1996, ?-end Maeve Kinkead: 1981-1987, 1989-1996, 1997-end Robert Newman: 1981-1984, 1986-1991, 1993-end Jordan Clarke: 1983-1987, 1989-1993, 1996, 1997-end By 1989, I believe the longest-tenured cast member without a departure was Jerry verDorn.
    • I know they were popular, but once they tamed Van's shrew, I thought Billy just brought Van down. Since they had just Nola and Billy sitting around in 97, an interesting thing would be if they had developed a friendship that turned into something else while Van was "dead". Maybe Billy lives at the Boardinghouse (to work on repaing his relationship with Bill) and works at Company instead of the stupid diner. Nola and Bridget give him a job there and Nola and Billy (who had originally been a bit antagonistic) slowly build up a relationship and then Van returns. A returned new lease on life Van would return to her "high hat ways" and take on the Spaulding's for control of the company with Billy helping her behind the scenes.  I know that Jordan was on sporadically because of his issues and them not know if they could trust him not to fall of the wagon, but they could have done it slow..and give Van and Nola a new reason to get in each others hair (I love a good Van/Nola tussle.)

Perhaps it wasn't the most well-played match in history, but that's something no one will remember in a few years time.
    • The thing with Martin (for me) is that he should have been Anita and Vernon's kid. I honestly think he would have been fine being an older or younger brother to Dani and Nicole. It also would have made his relationship and kids feel more realistic. A handsome salt and pepper late 40s/early 50s congressman who settled down and adopted kids to fit an image for politics. Not that he didn't want this lifestyle but it is what he needed to do to get ahead. Also, we don't often get older characters playing LGBT roles not just on daytime but across most media. It would have been a refreshing take. As an alternative, Sam and Ty could have been Martin's kids from an earlier marriage a la the NJ governor that was outed. We could have also seen parallels between Vernon and Anita thinking back to how they handled Martin coming out compared to the way they accepted Chelsea.  As for Martin being Nicole and Ted's kid, I do wish in this case he was not tied to a marriage and kids, so that he could date and sleep around like any other character on a soap.  Yeah, I didn't get it...but what I did get is that girl is a bit crazy like her mama.  Vanessa and Joey talking about the poker table...get these people off my screen.

    • Unpopular opinion, but I didn't think the show should have reunited Billy/Vanessa at all until the final stretch of the show. When watching the 1989 episodes when both Vanessa and Billy return after being off the show... I liked that Vanessa had moved on from him and that the show was hinting at her wanting to reunite with her first love Ross while looking down at Nadine for being the one Ross was dating.  And I loved the twist where Billy and Nadine teamed up to keep Vanessa/Ross apart.   This was an interesting concept that sadly the writers dropped with the show deciding to make Vanessa pine over Billy between 1990 and 1993 when they finally reunited.   To me, Vanessa pining over Billy seemed out of character. At least once Billy was carted off to prison in 1994... she and Billy divorced and stayed divorced until the final months when they finally found their way back together.  During the years when they were divorced, I liked that they had maintained a friendship and connection.. with viewers (like my late mom) wondering if they would ever decide to make it work again. I wish the show had tried that with Josh/Reva because by the time of the final episode when they rode off into the sunset, I didn't care because we'd been through the make up and break ups between them for over 10+ years by that point.
    • I break down the primetime soap era (start of Dallas to end of Knots Landing) as  Up to Spring 1982: Building the foundation. Fall 1982-Spring 1985: Peak. Fall 1985-Spring 1988: Tanking. Fall 1988 onward: Off the rails plus budget mode. Of course individual shows vary and I've broken down each show in their threads.
