August 12, 201015 yr Member Y&R still pulls in hefty numbers, in both HHs and demos. I don't see it being cancelled anytime soon. I'm sure the show will experience massive budget cuts with each renewal, but I'd expect it to be around for a good long while. B&B will probably hang on too. They're the only two shows I can see lasting at least another five years. I doubt either one especially B&B will last five more years.
August 12, 201015 yr Member I doubt either one especially B&B will last five more years. I'd think it would be tough to justify killing a show that still gets close to a 4.0 HH rating, where it's pretty much been hovering for several years now. They're pretty stable. Yes, I can see budget cuts galore that would make it look as pitiful aesthetically as GL in its sad final years. Of course if they move and lose their cushy lunchtime spot after The Price is Right in most markets, then all bets are off. I think Days will be the next to go. Then it's a toss-up between AMC and OLTL.

The only good thing about soaps being cancelled...or when they are all gone is that all of these awful writers and EPs will be out of a job and hopefully not be seen or heard from again. They need to be tarred and feathered!!

I am sure the Bells think so too. But as the saying goes, you just never know and you never know when. I do agree on your points about budget cuts but actually that's a reflection on something. I will be on the lookout to see which actors & crews will take the hit. Edited August 12, 201015 yr by JimTolkien

You know Les baby is jumping at the chance to cancel B&B too!
August 12, 201015 yr Member B&B's demos are dreadful. You know Les baby is jumping at the chance to cancel B&B too! , but it not that funny. I am more worried about the trickle-down effect. If CBS continues to reduce license fees, Sony will have no choice but to slash part their soap budget seeing as they are the ones who pay the salaries. I am more worried about Sony's reaction in all of this than anything else - if I could see a bit of investment on their part here I think I feel a bit better. But the show is so helter skelter that it is not hard to realize that the writers are flying by the seat of their pants/skirts with these s/ls. Edited August 12, 201015 yr by JimTolkien

Melody Thomas Scott is dead weight. Jess Walton and Judith Chapman too. Stephen Nichols obviously isn't working, so he might be cut loose soon. I would've bet the farm that Bergman would be the next big name to go, just because he seems so irrelevant to everything, but now that they're bringing back a certain someone from his past, I guess he is safe.

Y&R will consist of only Sharon Case and Michael Muhpney with Joshua Morrow as guest....I shudder at the thought.... Moonsy will easily cancel both shows. Hell if he cancelled legacy shows like GL and ATWT to put his lame ass wife on daytime....he'll definetly axe the remaining two show left. It will probably be Julie Chen daytime 5 days a week with her appearing on every gawd damn show! Edited August 12, 201015 yr by Ruxton Hills
August 12, 201015 yr Member Poor AMC will dwell at the bottom of the 18-49s week after week once ATWT goes off the air. Just out of spite for those hate on my OLTL, I hope to hell so!!........
August 12, 201015 yr Member Just out of spite for those hate on my OLTL, I hope to hell so!!........ LOLL as much as that makes me happy, u know they will say but OLTL will always be last in viewers which is kinda true but total viewers dont really count.
August 12, 201015 yr Member It doesn't matter which is canceled first, OLTL and AMC will likely be canceled in close succession of one another anyway.

August 12, 201015 yr Member B&B's time would be given back to affiliates more than likely, so they can expand newscasts. Y&R, who knows? I can't see that show continuing with inflated production costs. I see them giving Y&R's timeslot to Julie Chen, to sabotage the show and drive half of their viewers away, so Y&R will be level pegging with the rest of daytime. Y&R has a great lead on that female demo. But I wouldn't put it past CBS to sabotage that to give The Talk a better chance fighting against The View. I think if they want to compete with the view, they need NOT go in direct competition. It seems to be they would want to do the exact opposite of that. And B&B's slot for more news? Our cbs affiliate already has 4 1/2 hourse of local news per day, pretty soon they'll be doing funeral announcements on the lcoal newscast just to fill time. In a huge metropolis, there are tons of things to fill a newscast with.. but what about the other 80 percent of the country? And considering how TPIR is floundering, giving chen THAT as the lead in doensn't seem like a recipe for success, at least to me.
August 12, 201015 yr Member Thursdays are like groundhog day (the movie) around here. In that spirit, Fearless predictions: 1. YR 3.4 2. BB 2.2 3. GH 1.9 4. AMC 1.8 4. Days 1.8 4. OLTL 1.8 7. ATWT 1.6
