July 24, 201015 yr Member What if the last two years of Y&R were a dream? Forget Phillip3, crazy Adam, Patty/Emily, Jill Fennmore etc.Would you accept that or would this kill the show for good? LOL I have thought about this as well! It's so sad that it almost seems that the only way to erase all the unbelievable damage that has been done is to make the last four years a dream. I tend to think that, if that were to happen, the show's ratings and credibility (such as it is) would go diving (much like what happened to DALLAS). Then again, daytime audiences have been known to accept the mozt bizzare, unbelievable things. lol But, I admit, it's tempting.
July 25, 201015 yr Member It's interesting, because, by virtue of being a headwriter who had a lot of integrity, I think that he probably would have stopped GH from becoming as huge as it was. A lot of the things which helped push GH into the stratosphere, like turning Luke into a noble hero and the Ice Princess storyline, are unimaginable if Russell was the headwriter. I wonder, because SSH tends to play Julie as a bit flaky at times, whereas Susan Flannery plays Stephanie as some kind of bulldozer. Careful now. I swear I read in SOD that Jaime Lyn Bauer was also an early consideration for Stephanie (Lance and Laurie 2.0) but I can't seem to corroborate that. Speaking of that timeslot, it's sad yet interesting to think how Carolyn Jones' passing launched a second wind soap career for Marj Dusay.
July 25, 201015 yr Member I've read that too, about Jaime. I think she said she turned it down? I can't remember. I actually think she would have been a good Stephanie, although she would have looked too young to be Ronn Moss's mother.
July 25, 201015 yr Member I actually think she would have been a good Stephanie, although she would have looked too young to be Ronn Moss's mother. Maria Arena Bell: "But Bill Bell had women who were too young to be grown men's mothers all the time on Y&R! DAYS, too!"

Didn't someone on this board say that the last 5 years could have been Cassie dreaming this all while she was in a coma. Would anyone be opposed to that? I wouldn't mind.
July 25, 201015 yr Member What if Judith Light had not left OLTL? "Excuse me, Ms. Light? Mr. Rauch asked me to inform you that you've just worked your last day. (Will you sign my autograph book?)"
July 25, 201015 yr Member I think that probably would have happened, or she would have been squeezed out like Strasser was. There's another part where I wonder if she might have been someone, in spite of her not fitting his bimbo quota, he zeroed in on for big melodramatic stories (since Judith was great at those) like Erika Slezak, Andrea Evans, Fiona Hutchinson. Of course Judith career-wise was probably best off leaving, I just sometimes think there was a lot more of Karen to tell.
July 25, 201015 yr Author Member But it's just so difficult to believe Bea Reardon would give up even one of her children. I mean, she had, like, twenty-eight of them all living in the same boarding house; yet, she raised them all (and mostly w/o a father). Lol! That's true! What if people had stopped saying such nice things about Khan? Would his head have swollen any bigger than it already was? LOL!! Well, David Banning and Valerie Grant were endgame (as far as soap couples go). Trish becoming pregnant was only a rewrite forced upon her because the audience reacted negatively to the interracial romance. Proven by the fact that the time of conception didn't make since in the slightest, as it was more than a few months off. Stefano originally wanted Julie and thought Tony would be good paired with Marlena, Kayla or Sandy Horton. Stefano was also supposed to have a daughter, Vanessa DiMera. Joining Kayla and Roman, Marcus Brady was supposed to come to town. I like that vision! Where is she now!
July 25, 201015 yr Member Carl, with Judy on her Emmy-winning streak I wonder if Llanview would have been big enough for her and Slezak. I could see her encroaching upon the lead heroine territory. It's best that she left, best indeed. I would have loved some Gottlieb/Malone era Judith Light, what if she had been Sloane's previous lady friendinstead of whatshername (Dorothy?).
July 25, 201015 yr Member I like that vision! Where is she now! Dead, I'm afraid. But this is soaps, and if Phillip Chancellor can come back from the dead, so, too, could Pat Falken Smith.

July 25, 201015 yr Member How was the writing during this time? I seen some tony and sandy stuff and thought they had chemistry. Well, the original David/Valerie story and the DiMera/Brady stuff happened during Pat Falken SMith's two different regime periods. Next to Bill Bell, she got the show better than anyone else, IMO.
