What about spiteful replacements? When they had Carmen Duncan fill in as Lisa it certainly seemed like it was done at LEAST in part to punish Eileen Fulton. Lisa had had little to do for years at that point and suddenly they needed her when Eileen Fulton was not available? Certainly seemed like a spiteful move.

What did y'all think of James Kiberd and Randolph Mantooth as Hal Munson on ATWT? James Kiberd I didn't like, he was awkward in the role. Randolph Mantooth was pretty good but way too attractive for the role.

For me it was the opposite. Perfered JK Over RM

It did seem like that recast came outta nowhere

juppiter, I have to agree with John. Kiberd was pretty god as a temporary Hal, but Mantooth was just awful. I've like RM in many other roles, but he just made Hal as boring as possible. There was another guy who filled in for BH twice who was very good, but I can't remember his name.

Then again, no one could REALLY replace Ben Hendrickson.

Gisele Mackenzie was Katherime in 1986. When was Beverly garland Katherine as per this thread?

A Daytime TV from 1977 mentions that Hugh Franklin (Dr. Charles Tyler, AMC) had to take time off due to a gall bladder attack during a vacation.

Humphrey Davis took over as Charles until Hugh could return to the studio on April 11.

A 2/73 soap magazine mentions that OLTL's Herb Davis (Bert Kelley) was out for five weeks due to a mild heart attack. Earl Hyman replaced him.

Earl was on several soaps in these years I think he was on The Doctors). They said he was in a chalet in Norway or somewhere and had to be called in quickly for the temp role.

SOD reported that Cynthia Bostick ,who had been on FRFP,temped for Cindy Pickett as Jackie on GL,before her role as Marcia on ATWT.

I'd like to see that. I wonder why they didn't cast her when Cindy left (or was she still on ATWT at that point).

Yes, he had a long, successful career over there, doing a lot of Ibsen and Strindberg in their native tongues.
