Actress Adrienne Barbeau will join the cast of ABC's 'General Hospital,' TV Guide reports. Barbeau will play Suzanne Stanwyck, a tough woman who runs an Italian children's charity, and will first appear on the show on August 12. She is scheduled to appear on the show for severAl Weeks or more.

Suzanne will work closely with Brenda (Vanessa Marcil), who is returning to the show; the two will first collaborate in Rome and will then go to Port Charles. TV Guide quotes head writer Bob Guza as saying, "Despite her hard edge, Suzanne has a lot of love for others, including Brenda - she's her confidante, so to speak. As we get to know Suzanne better, she'll have a surprising feminine side."

Adrienne Barbeau originated the role of Rizzo, for which she was nominated for a Tony Award, in GREASE. She has also appeared on Broadway in FIDDLER ON THE ROOF (Hodel). Barbeau is also known for her role as Carol Traynor on 'Maude.' Her other film credits include 'The Fog,' 'Creepshow,' 'Swamp Thing,' and 'Escape from New York.'

'General Hospital' is a television show that has aired since 1963. It follows the general hospital of the fictional Port Charles, New York. The show airs on weekdays on ABC at 3et/2pt/c on ABC and weeknights at 10pm on SOAPnet; for more information, visit the program's official website.

:o Nooo! But I'm all for more hitherto unknown love children of Eric's. :P Or an aunt or uncle for Erica, the woman has like no family after all these years, never a mention of a cousin or anything.

I agree a true vet like Victoria Wydham or Elizabeth Hubbard would be great as Eric Kane's sister or have someone like Leann Hurley or Deborah Adair as a sibling to Erica

A bit more from TV Guide:

She joins August 12th as a Christiane Amanpour type journalist who runs an international organization that helps exploited children. Her primary job will be to usher Brenda back to the canvas.

Barbeau says that Suzanne is going to find someone in Port Charles very attractive.

She is supposed to be getting a love interest? Please. Who has been lying to her? This is ABC where she is considered to be as old as the hills.

Totally off-topic, but Sunday can't get here fast enough for me. :)

I won't address this stuff about Barbeau, since I think it's all hype and not a lick of it will mean anything in the long end.

YES! For years, I have wondered, Where did Eric and Mona come from? Do they have siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews, etc.?. I feel like Eric Kane (which is probably his "stage name") was someone who came from very humble beginnings, and worked very hard all his life to distance himself from his roots. For all we know, Eric might have a million-and-one brothers and sisters who either don't know how he ended up, or don't care b/c they feel as if he turned his back on the family when they needed him most.
