In honor of Fathers Day, who would you say are some of soaps best and worst fathers

Best:

Mac (GH) - He raised 3 children which were not his own and has been more of a loving parent to them (Maxie/Georgie) than their own parents were

Lucky (GH) - He also has loved, embraced and has been a caring father to children which are not biologicaly his. The kids bring out the best in him

Edmund (AMC) - when he was alive, he was a relatively good father to his 2 children

Worst:

Luke (GH) - In and out of his kids lives. He enocurages them to mess up and looks down upon them when they want to do right.

Sonny (GH) - He was an absentee father to Kristina, only appearing when he wants to yell and be in control. His abusive tendencies led her to take it from her bf and now she's a mess. Thanks to him, Michael has no goals in life besides being a killer, which he now is and was sent to jail for. Oh and he shot his own son, point blank in the chest. At least theres still Morgan who has a slight chance of not being screwed up.

Nikolas (GH) - even he acknowledges that he's a bad father. The nannies are raising Spencer and Nikolas barely interacts with him.

Mitch (OLTL) - He only tried to rape his daughter in order to impregnate her with his child. That was after giving her electroshock treatment

Todd (OLTL) - When Starr was little, he would use her as a weapon against her mother not to mention teach her heinous things. A few years ago he plotted to kidnap her baby and let her beleive she was dead

On OLTL I think Bo Buchanan is a pretty stand up dad, at least to his biological children. As a surrogate father to Rex, well that's a another can of worms.

Okay....here's a good one from OLTL for the Worst Fathers List: Victor Lord (at least as of 1995 when they turned him into a dirty old man).

Mac Scorpio was the worst father ever. So naggy, such a pain and worrier. He drove one girl to date a teen moblet who gave her HIV, another girl to date a weaselly high school punk who took her virginity online, and a third girl to go to the extreme and get married at something like 15 years old. He was horrible.

On GH I actually think Jason has some good father qualities to him. With Spin he takes a strong hand to make sure he doesn't get too stupid, yelled at him at times and sent him to his room, but he also makes sure Spin has anything he needs and would kill for him and impart any wisdom he has to him about relating to girls. With Michael, he on the one hand will be authoritarian and tell him he will make him grow up and stop being a "little bitch" and then will turn right around and sacrifice his own freedom to go to jail just to be with him. With Jake he is not such a great father, but even while abandoning him he knew enough to abandon him with $5 million dollars.

I don't think a good father = being a mother. That is where Mac failed miserably. You expect your mother to drive you crazy a little and throw some guilt trips while doing so, your father you expect to tell you what to do and teach you right from wrong with no nagging required.

In hindsight, Bo Brady was a good father. He and Hope somehow raised a son who at a very young aged managed to take responsibility on and a family, and is currently raising his child off-camera like a fully grown man who is self sufficient.

Mac had to be father AND mother bc none of his children's parents were around. I think he did damn good considering all the circumstances. I dont see how he can possibly be blamed for the guys his girls dated. That stuff makes him the worst father ever? Worst than Sonny and Luke? Worst than OLTL's Todd, Victor and Mitch? Or any other bad father listed in this thread.

Was Luke such a bad father? He taught his son at a very early age how to travel on his own and think on his feet. He taught him basically everything he had to teach while palling around with him all around the world having fun on the run. Then years later when he found out his dead son was alive he traveled all over the world to try and find him. And when his son was brainwashed and in trouble, Luke once again did everything he could, even willing to sacrifice his own life, to save him. With Lulu, he started out teaching her fishing and all that being a doting dad, but he sort of lost his way after her mother left and became a drunkard. That doesn't negate all his good years. With Ethan he has had very little time or opportunity to do much of anything with him, but he does try to impart whatever wisdom he has to offer and even went so far as to threaten murder toward anyone who would kill this newest son.

Luke isn't a great father but he always tried his best until he was no longer sober enough to try, and then he at least knew enough to have the grandmother take over. Frisco was the worst father on GH I think bar none. Mac I used some hyperbole to make a point, but I stand by that point. Being a good father does not mean being a mother. Maybe he was a good mother, but as a father he was a pest.

Since Luke now sees what Lucky went through as being hilarious, I don't think his efforts count for very much.

Luke also believes that your kids aren't valuable if they aren't yours biologically, which is a horrible thing for a child to hear. Fortunately for Jake and Cameron, they all but turned invisible once the golden boy JJ came back.

    • I guess it depends on your device.  I can watch CW shows via their website on my Windows PC.
    • Ooooo A Liam episode? I'll watch it later today. They sure are churning the daily episodes out early.

    • Welcome back, Shawn Douglas! It's been a while. It really is too bad that the writers don't really have an interest in the character because there are still a lot of ways that he can be used effectively on the canvas. He should have been a part of the 60th anniversary celebrations as well. If anything, just to represent Bo and Hope. And I'd much rather see Jada paired with him than possibly with Theo. But I enjoyed him getting caught up with Belle, and comforting her. I'm sure they'll find their way back to each other at some point but I do like them as divorced friends. I just hope we see it play out onscreen. Belle being a dick about Sami again was unnecessary though. And we finally saw Liam again!  I'm curious to see how this storyline is going to play out, and who's going to be weaved into it. He and Abe do work well together too. And we learned that he has a kid. Hopefully, we'll learn more about his character in the future. But I'm not really sure about Johnny and Chanel suddenly having problems with raising Trey. They've wanted a baby for so long, so I don't understand why this is even an issue. They should know by now what it's like to raise a baby. But I did enjoy Johnny's scenes with EJ, and that Johnny still hasn't refused to forgive him. This storyline was/is very clunky, but having the two of them be at odds is the right decision. There's so much story potential that can be drawn from that. As for Chad... there was no time for us to see his reunion with Will, but there's time for us to see him talking BS with Leo? I don't get it. And I don't get all this random dating app stuff either. Leo and Javi were boring af too. If we're forced to endure them, can they at least have some real conflict? The two of them losing the baby was the perfect opportunity for it.

    • I enjoy BF better on Days than on YR.   Chad is greater than Cane, in my opinion.
    • Ick! Seeing MS and BF making out as the characters onscreen was just ewwww.
