Victoria Rowell (ex-Drucilla, Y&R) is rumored to have expressed an interest in playing Dr. Valerie Grant on DOOL before they cast Vanessa Williams from Melrose Place for the part.

Before Sam Behrens and Lesley-Anne Down was cast as Gregory and Olivia Richards on Sunset Beach, Perry King and Emma Samms were rumored to be in consideration for those parts.

George Reinholt (ex-Steve, AW; ex-Tony, OLTL) was rumored to have been considered to play iconic soap roles. Those alleged roles include Frank Ryan (after Reinholt's AW firing), Alan Quartermaine, Roman Brady, Grandpa Shawn Brady (during the nineties when Frank Parker was off the show and before Frank McLean briefly played the role), and Stefano DiMera (during the nineties before Joe Mascolo returned).

When Steve Kanaly was asked to come in to read for Dallas, the casting directors told him he was right for the parts of J.R. Ewing, Bobby Ewing, Ray Krebbs, and Cliff Barnes.

Steve chose Ray, and the rest of history.

Josh Taylor (Roman, DAYS), Wayne Northrop (ex-Roman, DAYS), and Martin Kove were rumored to be candidates for Ray.

David Selby (ex-Richard, Falcon Crest) was rumored to have auditioned for the Gary Ewing role. David Ackroyd was initially hired and cast as Gary before Ted Shackelford took over.

Ken Kercheval wanted to play Ray instead of Cliff, in which he would be hired to play.

Tom Selleck, Robert Urich, Josh Taylor, Wayne Northrop, Steve Kanaly, and Michael Nader (ex-Dimitri, AMC) were rumored to be candidates for Bobby.

Robert Foxworth (ex-Chase, Falcon Crest) turned down the role of J.R. Robert Culp was rumored to be considered for J.R.

Robert Colbert (ex-Stuart, Y&R), Phil Carey (ex-Asa, OLTL), and Rory Calhoun (ex-Judson, CAPITOL) were rumored to be candidates for Jock.

Yeah, can't see Nick Benedict as Lance.

Wally Kurth as Tad Martin?  Can't really see that either.

Now, that I COULD see.  Not that Larry Hagman wasn't phenomenonal.  But, OTOH, J.R. Ewing might not have become the icon that he was had Steve Kanaly played the part.

Honestly, I wish OLTL had thought of him when they recast Clint Buchanan.  I just never bought Jerry verDorn as a cowboy, lol.

Randolph Mantooth read for OLTL's Clint as well.

I noticed the resemblance Randolph Mantooth and Patrick Duffy had when they acted out a scene on the old Dallas.

Does anyone agree that Randolph Mantooth would have been a good Bobby Ewing recast when Patrick Duffy left after the 1984-85 season and the show decided to recast?

When Dallas decided to bring back Jock after Jim Davis' 1981 death, does anyone agree that the Wes Parmalee/Jock Ewing story should have started then and given to Lorne Greene instead of Steve Forrest. And have Rebecca Wentworth fall in love with Wes/Jock, creating the Jock/Rebecca/Ellie/Clayton quadrangle.

Steve Kanaly as Clint Buchanan (OLTL) would have been interesting.

Jerry Ver Dorn would be a good Jeff Webber recast (GH) or Bill Horton recast (DAYS).

Grant Aleksander would be a good David Banning recast (DAYS).

Martin Sheen and William Devane were rumored to have tested for Cliff Barnes on Dallas.

Nick Benedict as Lance Prentiss. That's interesting.

Nick Benedict and David Canary were rumored to have tested for Roman Brady (DAYS) in 1980.

Christian LeBlanc tested for Tad Martin (AMC).

Days should cast Grant Alexander  as David. I would like that.

THen cast a scotty Banning. Maybe Rick Hearst would reprise

Although if GA is David then RH would be too old to be Scotty and they would have to find someone younger

Then recast Trish Clayton with Ilene Kristen

If fans could buy Rick Hearst as Grant Aleksander's son, then yes have RH reprise his Scotty Banning role (DAYS). It's all subjective.

A younger actor like Dylan Bruce could be put in the Scotty Banning slot.

RH could have worked as a Morgan Winthrop recast (AW), He and Grayson McCouch do not look that much different.

Janice Frame is Evan's mother. Janice & Mac were together. Janice was up to no good. Mitch was helping her. She was slowly, little by little, every day, POISONING Mac. She was almost successful. In St. Croix, Rachel & Janice began what was literally a physical fight. They fell into the resort swimming pool, continuing to fight each other. Somehow, I guess Janice had it on her, there was a knife in play but Rachel kept Janice from stabbing her & got it away from her & they continued to struggle until Rachel stabbed Janice, which was a death blow. Mitch did a 180 & helped Rachel get Mac to the hospital. He was so weakened by the poison he could not even stand unassisted. It took both of them together to walk him to the hospital but it did save his life.  The St. Croix remote was SO beautiful, but so dangerous & scary. Also action-packed. Hooray! Maxim's backSo, I just got home & this is what I found waiting for me. I wrote this several hours ago. I guess I neglected to hit send.
    • Thanks @skylark and @DRW50!

    • I do not think I have ever agreed with Vee. Normally I do not read him, Ignore ya know. For some unknown reason I clicked to read. And I agree 1000%. Now, this is so odd that I need to go away for a bit.
    • Justine had a lot of hooey in it, but she was an actual woman, not a guy in drag. She was a doppelganger of Rachel, French, having had a past history with Carl, etc. Two of the more outrageous parts-Justine bricking alive Vicky into a wall & Justine grinding the gears driving a big rig.
    • Hehe, twi/x actually x, formerly Twitter. Typically I find 2 sources for "crazy fan rumors" - the wrong parts of FB and x. Oy.
    • Not to hijack the thread, but was that character Justine? I just found this interview online with Logan and see what you're talking about - wow!   http://www.anotherworldhomepage.com/chat85.html
    • My bad….ill fix that  Fixed
    • Where do you discover this crazy rumor??
    • Jill Farren Phelps was always very skilled at saying what she meant onscreen in the bluntest way possible, like whenever she wanted fans to support one character vs. the other (hence Megan McTavish groaning about having to write Kale Browne's Sam Rappaport into three days a week at OLTL). Perhaps you should consider doing the same. Historically your intent is always far more obvious than your efforts at coy embroidery anyway. You believe people are dismissing Phelps' accomplishments, and suggest misogyny and fan blinders allow people to too easily pigeonhole and dismiss her skill set. I think we all understand her varied skill set. We're saying it's not enough to make up for her deficiencies as a storyteller and creative. JFP was undoubtedly a skilled technical producer. As a solo storyteller, and de facto HW, she was a repeat and predictable failure. She was not the first or last EP (male or female) to think she was a writer. If you want us to stop taking your behavior personally when you suggest misogyny is at play in board opinions of JFP, perhaps you should consider spending the next 10+ years here not acting like you're the only one who gets it.
