I couldn't find a thread for this last season or this season. Am I the only one here watching? It's not a perfect show, I've had probs with both seasons, but despite that i'm really enjoying this year (I think it's only gotten better with Craig Wright now on as one of the main writers)

I wasn't trying to be clever, Eric. I was just giving my initial impression of it. :)

Well, without sounding uber defensive, lol, or snarky if that's your impression just based on... umm reading the concept, you may wanna watch an episode or two. :)

No, I actually watched an episode online. :-)

What I liked about this show was how tehy made DID a non issue. The only exposure Ive had to it was from the soaps, most notably OLTL and the person was always downright crazy and psychotic. It was always treated as a problem/ In season 1, Tara was a functioning DID person. She was in sync with her personalities and they worked together. That was quite a different take from the usual dramatic portrayal

Right and that's not so much true in Season 2, though I guess they had to go that route partly to lead to why it happened (something I am interested in but I hope this Mimi isn't just another deadend to lead to another reason in Season 3...)

We find out what happened to her in the finale.

This show is amazing. I sort of feel that even if they get past the DID issues, I think the issues residing within the family itself would be good enough to watch play out on screen IMO.

Amello I totally forgot about Gene and him taking the picture. Kate's stories have been schizo this season, going from one plot to another. I hope this new story with her isn't short lived like the rest.

Funny, I'm very mixed on Diablo

Warum?

(Jill Soloway apparently might not be back as co show runner next year as she's been offered to create her own show for JJ Abrams--I kinda hope it's not picked up so she returns, she seems to be even more important to the show than Diablo).

She won't. It's like revolving doors. First Junge left, now Soloway.

Oh, wow, another Alexa Junge fan! I go as far back as "Clarissa Explains It All" with her. How about you?

After that. Friends, Sex and the City, West Wing... :)

Michael, I agree, but I can't see Showtime being happy with them continuing without the DID "gimmick". Amello, I'm glad to hear that but it makes me all the more curious about next year.

Sylph, on Showtime's Tara board the gossip is Saloway IS back--I guess she left last Fall (after writing several scripts, including the finale, for this season) but her project never went to full pilot stage. I'm glad--and it's not quite like Alexa--she was never a show runner, just one of the writers.

I don't get your Warum comment.

Agreed and this is the kinda thing I'd hope could be improved if the show became an hour... Though I know it won't--often it feels like we get the key plot points but not the stuff in between.

HA! I find her dialogue sometimes a bit too forced (in a Joss Whedon, someone who I generally like a lot, type way). I remember the pilot of Tara has a really obscure throwaway line referencing Small Wonder, that I doubt 80% of the audience would get (kinda sad that I did). Which is fine, but it didn't even seem in character. Still, she keeps her dialogue largely reigned in...

Well im sure all of america wouldnt get a small wonder mention, i bet quite a bit more would than you think would.

Forced? That's an interesting point of view (this is not sarcasm). Anyway, she is now adapting teen drama Au Pairs.

And some proof:

Alexa Junge, the executive producer/showrunner of Showtime's United States of Tara, has decided not to continue on the series, which recently was renewed for a second season. Bringing Junge on board was key to securing a series order for the show, created by Oscar winner Diablo Cody. The search is under way for new showrunner to take over the series. The Showtime/DreamWorks TV-produced United States of Tara has wrapped production on Season 1, which is still airing original episodes on Showtime Sunday nights. Junge wrote three episodes this season, the last of which airs Sunday.

On United States of Tara, which stars Toni Collette as a wife and mother with multiple-personality syndrome, Junga served as an executive producer alongside Steven Spielberg, Cody, Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank.

United States of Tara's executive producer Alexa Junge is leaving the Showtime series, which was just renewed for a second season, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Junge (Friends) ran the day-to-day operations of the critically acclaimed Tara, which was created by Oscar winner Diablo Cody and chronicles the family life of a woman with Dissociative Identity Disorder (Toni Collette). No replacement has been named yet.
