DAYS is thanking their lucky stars that they got picked up before this crash. The demos are tying lows. Way to go Higley/Whitesell/Tomlin! It's like they didn't learn anything from 2009 and didn't follow that strategy. I think they're going to hit a new low (in demos) in the next 4 weeks. :(

I don´t think this is true. They are still doing the same, having one big "A" story featured daily and bunch of others slowly developing in background. Unfortunately, it seems people just aren´t interested in another round of EJami growing closer while he is lying to her and the other guy is about to reveal the truth, which is pretty much the same conflict Sami/EJ and first Lucas and now Rafe played for 4 years now. They bet on it and they are losing big time so it´s clear it´s time to move on.

A couple of weeks maybe. Last week this board was down so it's hard to know what was released and what wasn't. But they were crowing about ABCD within the last little while. Now with GH leading the Emmy noms, I'm sure they will have something out there.

I think your right that they are following the same pattern. The only issue is that the draggy/lull period hit the past 8 weeks or so when last year it hut in the summer when Days always seems to crash in recent years anyway. The show threw everything out there from September-February and rushed some things and now we are seeing the result.

The audience is still there or else the season to date averages would start showing decreases. The problem is they aren't watching live or same day. They are watching later. That seems to be the case with all the soaps. Like many primetime shows, soaps seemed to drop around the same time they did in March and it seems like many people are just watching their shows later on DVR instead of rushing home and watching them. That is a problem that could develop into a horrible trend for soaps where they end up losing the fans that watch later as well. If fans aren't rushing to watch a show and are basically watching out of habit, there is a problem.

Days will be fine. They will probably build everything up and go all out from September-February like they did last year. I think that is what they are building toward. I just wish they could bring it year round. With the exception of summer last year, the show did a much better job of maintaining interest.

That´s easy. The babyswitch story had a real drive in it and it was hard to quess what happens next. With this EJ/Sami/Rafe story it´s really just a filler till Rafe discovers the truth. It´s like the Meredith gone crazy period last year. Now Nicol/EJ/Sami/Rafe had a tons of filler in it too but I quess people enjoyed it more than Rafe listening Calliope and Anna drone endlessly about pretty much nothing while EJ and Sami dance around themselves. Plus I think people really got tired with EJ after his I hate, no love, no play, no really love Sami early this year. It´s hard to enjoy the chemistry after all the crap he pulled off.

I agree. I think the setup is there for some potential payoffs, but I just think people are bored. I'm *sort of* hanging in there, but my main issue has to do with Hope/Bo/Carly. I just find it hard to believe Bo would choose Carly over Hope, despite their issues...he's being a real ass and I'm just not feeling it. Nighttime Hope was interesting at first, but...now that seems to be dragging as well. I usually skip those episodes with the quickness. I still think if Higley was erased from the equation, things would be a lot more engaging.

    • Yeah.  The hot, poor bad boy with a chip on his shoulder but with a heart of gold was a common soap trope in the 80s

    • That's been an issue with me... the lack of a cohesive 'Have Not' crowd that has focus other than Leslie/Eva.   I would beef up Jan, Mona, Laura, Joey, and few other male characters.. and not just be out to overthrow the Duprees.. but co-existing and broadening the scope of the show since the show is called Beyond the Gates. I think the set up the show has with everything revolving around the Duprees will become predictable especially if they always win.   It would be like Victor Newman on Y & R for 40+ years.. always winning, hardly ever losing.   With MVJ/Guza.. both trained under that mindset... I fear that will happen.   I've always heard from a performer that is playing a character like Leslie/Dana that you have to find the victim/hurt beneath the surface in order to play a villain/villainess... and I think that's why I enjoy watching her.. because she brings so much more to the part than what the writers put on the page.
    • I figure that was really hard for Dom to do. I completely GET why they wrote it the way they did but I wonder if it was necessary. Meanwhile I have 2 really icky ideas in my head. Drew is going to blame Tracy KNOWING it was not her. Dante is going to blame Lulu.  After that, everyone else is going to be mad at Lois.  Tracy is going to double down on wanting to get rid of Sonny. Sonny's going to be more dug in to stay because he now has a new descendant.
    • I can actually buy Brook Lynn being so self-absorbed and incurious that she never thought to question why her mom and grandma were so attached to Gio.
    • It was overkill and the whole narrative Lois was too nice to the orphan kid when he was little, WHAT? Like Emma said no one thinks Gio is a troublemaker that gets 14-year-old kids drunk for fun. That being said, Lulu figured this Gio thing out in episode, but Brook Lynn never once questioned Lois and Gloria attachment to a child that was the same age as the baby she gave up?  Ever?
    • Thanks for finding that. I may have been thinking of this blog entry.
    • Just watched the "Dante Screams At Gio" scenes. Jesus. Talk about overload and overkill. That was obnoxious.
