I'm gaining the utmost respect for Brett with each and every interview. He doesn't slag off the net or TPTB, but he makes it clear that he and Scott leave the show with their dignity in tact and in full knowledge of the fact that it wasn't the fault of their characters that show's ratings are in the cellar.

This Kish controversy, is really going to hurt the show more than they realize. Do they really believe their problems are going to just disappear. Not only have they lost a popular pairing, that brought them great publicity, but they also are alienating a fanbase with the way they are handling this exit.

Right now this was the last thing OLTL needed to do, they seriously want to be cancelled....and as far as I am concerned, they only have themselves to blame if they do.

This show NEVER seems to learn from their mistakes...........

Another great interview by Brett. I just love this guy. Another soap needs to snap him up.

I agree with poster Mrs. Chandler Quartermaine. Getting rid of Kish acomplishes nothing postive for this show. All they did was piss off fans and it's not going to help the ratings. Can already see it. The last few weeks the ratings have down and quickly approaching that low in total viewers they hit in Dec. Given Kish has hardly been on lately, to me thats basically backs up my opinion that they let the wrong people go and the real problems still remain and will continue to drag down the show. It looks like not just Kish fans, but the general auidence is tuning out cause the most of the rest of the show is such crap. I think Jamey Giddens could be right, in that this could be the show's "Maureen Bauer moment".

I really liked Kyle and Fish but I don't get the Maureen Bauer comparison. Maureen was on GL for over a decade and she slowly became the show's heart and soul. The show was never the same without her, but still went on for another sixteen years. Kyle and Fish were great once OLTL started writing for them and they could have become the show's heart but they were never given the best of stories and probably would have been ruined at one point or another as just about everyone on OLTL is. Even if they had stayed around, the show probably won't last beyond another two or so years.

If we're going to talk about moments that linger for years and years I'd put stuff like poor Gabrielle killed next to a toilet.

I respect your opinion, but the show will be cancelled with or without Kish.

Sure, the couple was groundbreaking, but it was just two newbies with no connection to the core of the show. I highly doubt OLTL will just implode without them.

Kish fans should be lucky they aren't sticking around, they could have had a worse fate then what they are getting now.

Eric83....I completely agree about "the show will be cancelled with or without Kish", I'm was trying to say that this is another reason, in a very very long line of reasons, why they might be cancelled soon. In a sense, Kish's firing is just adding more fuel to the fire.

I love OLTL, they gave me my favorite soap couple of all time...Tangeline...but I think even they don't know what to do anymore, they seem lost.

    • ICAM.  KL needed to end in '93.  I'm just glad David Jacobs resisted CBS' efforts to convince him otherwise.

    • Dear Paula Cwikly and Jeanne Marie Ford,   Please write out the character of Leo Stark. It would be greatly appreciated.   Sincerely, Soapsuds
    • Oh my -- long time ago, huh??  What was the actual storyline? Here's what I recall: Susan was married to David Martin and had his baby, Dickie.  David allowed Dickie to fall off a swing-set or something, and Dickie was killed.  So a distraught Susan shot and killed David.  Julie had been having sex with David Martin, and was pregnant with his child when Susan killed him.  Then Julie named her newborn child David.  And that was really what began the big feud between Susan and Julie.  I KNOW I have a lot of this history wrong -- so anyone please feel free to correct my historical errors.  I would appreciate that very much.   Now back to Denise's Another World connection.  Although I loved Denise as an actress, I was never crazy about Mary McKinnon.  Mostly because of her completely unbelievable introduction -- two back-from-the-dead characters returning in the SAME storyline. It seemed ridiculous, and was just a bit too much for me to accept.
    • Monday's episode(what was today's before the pre emption) is posted   https://www.cbs.com/shows/video/CAD_kZcynpkzM5vrwPg77Hh5MQD3hTbH/
    • Denise had so much inherent warmth, yet also layered her work with neuroses and emotion, making sure her characters were never as one-dimensional as the writing could have been. She was one of the first high profile poachings from one soap to another, which could have been a recipe for disaster, but she worked hard and turned Lesley into such an integral part of GH's rebuilding. The show may not have survived the '70s without her.  I wish they'd done more with Lesley when they brought her back in 1996. I hope more of Denise's run at DAYS will appear. I enjoyed Denise's work on AW, in a very underwritten part - it felt like she was just hitting her stride in playing the role when she left.  We are losing so many of our legends, but in moments like this I try to just be grateful we had them for as long as we did.  I do feel terrible for those at GH as they've been hit hard the last few years.
    • Before my time, but besides Lesley, I know many say her work on Days as Susan was fabulous. I saw a clip, when Julie met Doug for the first time (with Susan the one that introduced them as BJ Hunnicutt David Banning was in the background!)... But so much of her work as Susan is not available. May Denise Alexander rest in peace!
    • Oh, no. I came in at the tail end of her Susan Martin run on Days and instantly loved her. I started watching GH because of her, not the Luke & Laura phenom. And though I thought AW wasted her as Mary McKinnon, her talent and charisma was still on full display. Thanks for the memories, Denise.
    • I didn’t know if you were being serious or not for a second I really feel like the way they’re mixing up who’s interacting with who, a couple of changes to the overall look (lighting, camera angles) and a few actors having changes in hairstyle etc (Naomi and Nicole are the first that comes to mind), there may have been a break in production before this week’s episodes were shot and they’ve reassessed a few things (in particular I noticed the lighting has improved and a lot of my gripes around the makeup - particularly on some of the female cast has also improved - two things which go hand in hand), perhaps some episodes have been edited and moved around to still give the Friday cliffhanger which is why Derek and Ashley were edited out of an episode they were slated to appear in etc. Regardless, this week has been excellent and I’ve noticed the actor who plays Martin is improving and Hayley too - especially given how poorly the Hayley character is written and how her personality / motivation changes from scene to scene.
