Minorities on daytime

I assume this was written after Amy Lewis left Y&R. Amy was the secretary/singer involved with Jackson brothers before getting involved with Nathan and had a memorable storyline where she taught him to read.

While GL and Y&R had amazing turnarounds in the 90s, AW went in the opposite direction. As for B&B aside from a few Hispanic characters and Lt. Baker, the cast has always been disgustingly white...

I do roll my eyes when we get another "Sex and the City Fusion fun" statement from the latest headwriting team. You'd think they could move onto Real Housewives or something.

THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL: F

Since B&B is set in Los Angeles, appearances by Hispanic and black characters would be logical, but so far none have appeared. The Forresters and the Logans stick to their own kind with a passion. Even minor characters and extras have not broken this trend. Since fashion is a big part of the show, the use of black or Asian models seems natural. So does the introduction of new designers who might shake up this ultra-conservative white world

Well, I view it like this. B&B is THE most family-oriented soap opera on daytime. And the only half-hour show which of course mean a smaller cast. So they can´t have more than 20 characters and pretty much all are members of the top families of Forrester, Logan, Spectra, Marone and now Jones. And since they love to keep it in the family... They hire each other at the companies as models and all kinds of roles.

They have tried bringing in minorities into these families. Zende is a Forrester by adoption. Donna Logan has a black son with Justin; Marcus - who was seen with his black girlfriend last week. There is also Tony Dominguez who is married to Kristen Forrester, latino hottie. Tony´s ex Sofia (Sandra Vidal). Felicia Forrester has a son with Italian hottie Dante Damiano. The main police officer is Det. Baker and his son Charlie, both are black. Then we had brothers Hector & Christian Ramirez. Back in the day Stephanie had her BFF Ruthanne Owens and her newphews Keith & Kevin - all 3 black. We had the Cortez family with Claudia, her brother and mother. Claudia´s ex (can´t remember his name) was also hispanic. And Forrester employees Michael Lai (Lindsey Price) and Jasmin (Lark Voorhies) and Jessica Forrester´s ex Sly Donovan.

So while there seems to be very few minorities on B&B, they´ve had a few at least so I would not give them an F. C- is my grade.

B&B is just inexcusable. A fashion show set in California with NO Blacks, Hispanics, Asians or Gays?

So Marcus and Justin are white?

What the heck do they do on the show? They might as well be potted plants bc they are non-entities on the show which pop up once or twice a month to remind us that BB has tokens. B&B completely dropped the ball and I dont see what the point of introducing Justin was bc he was never utilized in a story. He merely exists to give Bill someone to talk to. Marcus has even less of a role and serves no purpose. BB might as well stand for Buh-bye Blacks

My how some things haven't changed (re: B&B getting an F).... that show's whiter than a sheet.

And I agree for the record that most of daytime today would get an F....

In early 2008 it appeared AMC was well on its way to an A (and for a short stint it was), but since the Hubbards got married..... they've been B players at best.

2008 had alot of black people on AMC. I also loved how they attempted to revive the Fryes before that. They had a big story and was used quite a bit.

B&B should introduce Justin's family.

I was thinknig the samething. I was thiking Justin ex wife could be Amelia Marshall Ex Gilly from GL. I just want to see her & Ric togather again.

I would love that. And Rick Hearst could act with someone who can move her face.

The Abbotts' black maid, Mamie (Margeurite Ray), still serves breakfast to the clan every morning in a style that is reminiscent of sitcoms of the 1950s. She's smart and savvy, but she's a servant.

In Y&R's defense, though, those sandwiches don't make themselves. Am I right, Malcolm?

I love Taylor.

On a side Note I see Y&R going back to it's beginning.

How sad. This video is from about 15 years ago yet it could apply to daytime tv today and the politics backstage
