Rose: "I haven't been this scared since 1952, when St. Olaf's active volcano threatened to erupt. Well, luckily there were some Druid priests who were in town for the opening of Stonehengeland. They said they could stop it if they could sacrifice the town's dumbest virgin. I don't know why I raised my hand. It must have just been the excitement of the moment, but they said the only way to prevent the eruption was for me to crawl through their legs, up the volcano while they gave me my birthday whacks. Well, you're not going to believe this -- turns out they weren't Druid priests at all! Just some Shriners looking for a good time!"

I have all the seasons on DVD. I love the show. Maybe with Hallmark carrying Empty Nest someone will pick it up and release on DVD soon.

Soo many favorite GG episodes

Blanche: There has to be homosexuals who date women.

Sophia: Yeah, they're called lesbians.....

Btw...love your siggy of Dack Rambo..AMS.

I love how the show tackled social issues, but did it with humor and didn't try to preach. I think Sophia's speech to Blanche when her brother Clayton wants to marry his boyfriend, is rather fantastic and ahead of the times. She doesn't tell Blanche to be okay with it, just put it in terms Blanche understands and can process. :)

LOL, to every time Dorothy threatens to take Sophia back to Shady Pines.

AMS, that's my favorite Rose monologue, especially bolded... "I don't know hwy (why) I raised my hand..." Other favorites include:

-The Boy Who Didn't Cry Wolf ("It wasn't a wolf, it was a bear!... He became known as The Boy Who Cried Continuously")

-St. Olaf's meanest ventriloquist who shared a hospital room with a grieving widow whose husband haunted her every night at 10, 9 central

Rose's "hwy" reminds me of the episode where Dorothy's son marries Mary Mae Ward and her mom frets about her marrying "some skinny hwite boy!" Hilarious episode. "Rose, just do your version of the dance the Huxtables do," followed by Rose's reaction which...I can't even put it into words

The "10, 9 central" one is one of my favorites, too! It's been forever since I saw that one.

Another of my favorite Rose-isms was the whole thing with "Big Sven and Big Sven 2...you know, like Jaws 1 and Jaws 2!"

How much time is covered in the last two episodes? I've never liked how quick Dorothy and Lucas got married. They knew it was going to be the last season, they should have introduced him mid-season or just had Dorothy take a teaching job near Michael or Kate.

Yeah, that and the fact that right before the sad finale they did that depressing as hell two-parter of Rose and the heart attack. That should have been mid-season, not right back-to-back.

LOL at that hwite buouy Michael marrying Mae-Mae Ward! It's usually edited out in the syndicated versions, but Rose also has the line, "What color is black people's dandruff?", to which Dorothy replies, "Rose, black people don't have dandruff, God figures they've been through enough already."

As you all know HallMark is taking the GG off the nightime schedule. The WE Channel carries GG at night. It is on right now until midnight for anyone upset with HallMark's decision to stop airing it at nights.

Btw...The Golden Girls is on DVD. All the seasons are out already.

    • One of the things that I found unnecessary and a bit disturbing about Ambitions was that in almost every episode someone was holding or shooting a gun.  Jamey and Ron seem to have the same fetish.
    • I had thought that there was a Tommy Biddles on there, but then I realized I was thinking of Dr. Biddles on Santa Barbara. Never mind!

    • I have watched the scene where Vanessa reads the letter and it's lovely, but I'm really glad now that I never got around to watching the funeral. Henry ADORED Nola! He treated her like a daughter and Stacy like a granddaughter. That's why Vanessa couldn't stand her. He was crazy about all the Reardons. He spent a lot of time at the boarding house. He and Bea--they never explicitly said it was romantic, but they certainly were loving friends. This sounds worse than Bert's funeral. I really did not think that was possible.
    • It always bothered me from the start that Nicole just took Mona's suggestion and never checked references.  A real psychiatrist would have done more before hiring someone. ** I like that Kat's reporter/investigative type instincts caused her to be suspicious of Eva from the start, and to try to spy on Eva and catch her as weeks went by. However, I think that Kat's so focused on what Eva did wrong -- that she won't see that Leslie is the master manipulator, making some things appear different than they actually are. I hope that Shanice's natural snoopy nature will get her to figure out what actually happened to Laura, and who really caused all the problems. *** edit to add: The show never specified what Mona's job was for Nicole.  Home manager?  Office manager?  Head personal assistant?  I'm sure there would have been a title?    Mona asserted today her upset with Eva and with Leslie.  That they used her and ruined her reputation.  I just wish I knew what Mona's job was. If Mona was an official manager, then it would have made sense for Nicole to trust the recommendation, if Nicole thought Mona had done a proper hiring procedure.  But if Mona is just an informal helper, then why wouldn't Nicole order a background check?
    • And I'm here for it.   Also...YES, PLEASE.
    • Also, someone knocked over the head (usually in the D Mansion) and imprisoned in the secret tunnel room or whatever it was. I swear that must have happened at least a dozen times the last few years, and each time it drove me crazy!
    • HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! And here I am rewatching and...
