Eden Riegel Joins Y&R

Yeah, but they believe these moves benefit ratings (they couldn't give a [!@#$%^&*] about story quality). Stephen Nichols was a ratings stunt, and somebody pointed out that the ratings did recover the week he came on the show. Whether that'll last, I don't know... I don't think it will. But if ER is NuNuNuMac, they sure as hell are going to milk the "reunion" between "Maggie" and "Bianca" for what it's worth. If there's a chance it brings a trickle of AMC fans over, why not? Especially as AMC has a lot of PR and momentum behind it at the moment. Hell, I'm watching AMC and FFing Y&R.

Of course, this is all about showcasing Billy "grinning Hyena" Miller first and foremost.

Oh, ITA with you. I'm not saying I agree with the principle of the thing... I'm saying they think this is going to be an A+ move. This is the Y&R team that believes they "sh!t gold" (to quote a wonderful remark I read on SON yesterday).

It's also too bad because... I actually thought Clementine Ford was somewhat endearing as Mac. I know I'm alone in that assessment.

If they wanted to recast so badly, they should have taken a look at Christel Khalil's Lily and Amelia Heinle's Vamptoria. And that's just for starters but they are the most eggregiously bad castings on the show.

Rachel Ames is a hell of a lot better actress than Y&R or GH deserve :( But that doesn't pay the bills.

I know, let's make HER Ryder and Daisy's grandmother (who cares about the mother). I remember when she would finally get fed up with Liz every once in a while and she would be cold as ice. She can be Y&R's Helena...only they will probably dress her like Granny Walton, but still.

That sucks if it's Eden. I guess I can't expect her to be "loyal" to All My Children because an actor has to work and naturally she would want to play different roles but I think it stings a little that she would join a competing show.

There are so many dud casting choices. Shockingly bad acting, and then those who can act are given no material, or material which is unplayable. So we just keep waiting for this new savior. Braeden's returning to save the show! No, wait, Stephen Nichols will save the show! On and on.

Clementine is OK but she never had a chance after she started getting the blame for tanking Mac/Billy (since Billy has had so many other successful pairings...)

And this works. The soap press will make this into a huge success no matter what happens onscreen, just as they hyped Y&R endlessly even when the show had become godawful last year. When something fails, just blame the actors (Ford, Bierdz, Engen), as long as they aren't ex ABC names.

Does Eden have any catering experience?

Can you imagine going from Alicia Mishnew and Susan Lucci (who aren't perfect but often give their best and had good chemistry with Eden) to Eric Braeden and Josh Morrow, who have chemistry with no one and who barely manage to mutter their way through a scene?

I would say I dread to think what they will do to Victoria but Victoria has been dead for years anyway. I guess now they will just have her whine more about being Daddy's princess, and they might have her bed hop some, at least until she's raped or has a child whose paternity is unknown.

    • Just thinking how the Ruth/Leticia guest spot really cemented how Days had changed. Stunt casting with a campy/comedy character in a 'wacky' storyline was something that a few years previously would have been completely out of place on Days (and most other soaps for that matter).
    • I am interested to see how they handle Leslie/Dana down the road. If she continues in this path, it would be unrealistic to have her around. Like other shows have done this with a 'villian' character and ended up with people looking stupid putting up with someone they detest. Another thought-could they be building up to a murder story? Maybe Les/Dan will be left in a coma and we will have a whodunit with several characters as suspect. It would also be a chance to redeem her I wonder how long the show will go w/o resorting to soap cliche stories-twins,switched at birth, murder mystery, long lost child etc
    • Yeah, Martin really did make me laugh when him and Smitty jumped up to drag Leslie out. I am interested in seeing how this fallout will impact his storyline as well. Especially since he is so protective regarding his family/family's image. I am interested in seeing how he will interact with Eva for the time being, they did have a warmer interaction earlier on once they met. But he seems to have doubts about her possibly being Ted's right now. I wonder how long it might take for him to come around with her. I could see the younger generation warming up to her quicker than the older ones. Though of course I think there will be anger/tension for a while regarding the reveal and her role in it. Perhaps Naomi/Chelsea will ease up on Eva first then eventually Martin/Kat might down the line. I really do love Nicole. I'm glad that DD is playing her. She really is the heart of the family and also agree the show. She is so easy to root for and I'm looking forward to seeing how things work out for her. I am enjoying the development of most of the characters on this show. I enjoy most of them including Bill with his trifling self lol. I do feel that Bill's love for his daughters is genuine and that gives him some depth. A few of the characters I don't care for that much (like Bill, Ashley, Vanessa). I wasn't too big on Andre at first, but I am warming up more to him as the actor is settling into the role. I like most of the characters on this show. Also, I am interested in seeing what happens if Eva indeed goes and lives with the new doctor that was introduced. I could see this adding another layer to her story, maybe she will become more vixen-ish, on what type of relationship they end up having. And/or maybe she will end up becoming more hardened as she deals with being an outcast, especially if she falls out with Leslie as well. I think that AM will do a good job of showcasing the different layers of this character as she deals with the fallout of the affair/paternity reveal.

Got another sad news from the Bahamian community (not a celebrity)  https://www.instagram.com/p/DJMSrYCgyes/?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ== Former Bahamian Senate President J Henry Bostwick, Husband of former 1st Bahamian Female Cabinet Minister Dame Janet Bostwick is dead yesterday on his 86th birthday.    Thanks and for those who've aren't familiar with the talk shows in The Bahamas on this thread here, his talk show named The Freedom March with Dr Rodney Moncur that airs on ILTV and The Beat 103.5 FM Nassau every weekday afternoons. IIRC, he suffered a illness before he died.  Here's the link for his final taping of the show before his death: https://ewnews.com/this-is-powerful-rodney-moncurs-final-sign-off/

    • One thing I thought about is if Hayley will have a reaction to Bill threatening to kidnap and sell a baby. That's another level of viciousness and with her just having thought she was pregnant it might make her feel some type of way.
    • You're welcome. Fall 1982-Spring 1985 was the peak of primetime soaps. What a time to have been alive.
    • 1990/91 Cheers, Roseanne, A Different World, The Cosby Show, Empty Nest, The Golden Girls were still Top 10 shows, and Murphy Brown and Designing Women became Top 10 shows. It was the following season that I think was the transition season for sitcoms.
    • @xtr I loved Martin in Thursday's episode, he was almost a different character. I thought he was flirty, funny, carefree, and giggly. Glad I have someone to share my top 2 women(Nicole and Eva) with, I agree Nicole is the heart of the Dupree family, and also the heart of the show IMO. We rode into the show on the passenger side of her car, lol. What I am enjoying the most about the show, is that they did such a great job character building, because all I care about is the CHARACTER journey. Nicole, Eva, Leslie, Dani, Chelsea, etc. very invested in what's coming next. I even feel that way about Mona, Shanice, and Doug.
