I'd accept Lauralee Bell back. I can't say I've missed her, but she is a symbol...a canary in the coal mine. She bailed when Y&R drifted too far from her dad's vision (really starting with her pregnancies, but totally with LML) and I find it telling that she's stayed away (I think it is her indictment of MAB's vision). In principle, with Paul and Nina gravitating toward one another, this might be time for Christine to resurface...but her absence shows how little attention this part of the canvas is getting.

With P3 gone, there is still less reason.

Chris' connections were really Paul (decimated Williams clan), Nina (recurring), Danny (decimated Romalotti clan, and I can't believe Daniel would be around much longer). I suppose she could also relate to Chance...but it will be hard for her to play "godmother" when Chance is played by a hulking 30-something.

Strategically, IMO, one of the major mistakes they made was not to tie Cricket into the Abbott clan. She became John's stepdaughter when he married Rebecca, and she interacted with the Abbotts a fair bit during that AIDS story. Cricket would have had much more solid ties on the show if John had basically adopted her, and moved her into the house. (I guess that would have interfered with their plans to introduce Jon O'Hurley...but after his romance with Nikki fizzled and he vanished from the canvas, they could have re-connected her to the Abbotts).

If Cricket were an "Abbott" (especially with Traci written off long ago--so she could have been the "good Abbott"), she'd have a more solid place on the show.

For me, now, the "Cricket watch" is a sign of the health of the show. I sort of believe that if she finally comes back, it will be because she has finally put her stamp of approval on the storytelling. For that reason, I wait expectantly for the day...

Considering that Ashley's place on the show is relatively tenuous, Jack is superfluous, and Billy and Ashley barely interact with their own family, I'm not sure if Christine being an Abbott would have made a difference.

I think that she might have stayed around longer if she'd been more heavily tied to the Newmans, as Bill Bell wanted with Christine/Victor, but that relationship was just a very, very bad idea. I think it only would have worked if Victor had sort of adopted her as an honorary daughter, and this caused big conflict between Chris and Victoria.

Why would you want such a thing? For her to approve the dreck?:wacko:

What's so funny?

I was going to say! I think Michael Fairman does a decent job as a soap journalist. But maybe DeeDeee was laughing about the idea that MAB would do an interview with somebody who might ask some uncomfortable questions?

Yeah, I was wondering too.

Fairman used to do Sony Daytime publicity...so I have a feeling he'd be more "for the team" than "inquisitive journalist".

At most, we'd get some:

"Some fans seem to be a little upset that Adam took a turn to villainy. Why did you make this choice? Let me add Michael Muhney is the find of the decade!"

or

"I'm hearing that some of your viewers wish things would slow down a little and you'd play more character and emotional moments. But let me add that you're still the most emotionally rich show on the air, and the benefit of your modern style is that you can't miss an episode! Can't miss a minute!"

Honestly, I'd rather MAB took the "Charles Sherman" approach (hire someone else to spin the crap--some of you would say she has already done so with Muhney)...because she is not faring well in these interviews, and her words are coming back to haunt her.

Oh, c'mon! He's not as sycophantic as that. He's enthused about his soaps, is all. He may not be Carl Bernstein in terms of tough and twisty questioning, but his questions are wide-ranging and I rarely find that I'm being overwelmed by his opinions in the course of his interviews. He's good at just letting the subject speak for themselves.

Oooooooo, I'd rather she didn't! I love it when Daytime PTB/stars say what they think regardless of the consequences. And then put their foot in it! What on earth would we have to talk about if they didn't?

Whatever the questions, I can't wait for the interview! I am very anxious to read Queen MAB's next "the world belongs to ME" quote. laugh.gif

Unless she (pleasantly) surprises us all by announcing that she's stepping down, firing her cronies, and never writing again. I would be happy with that.

We'll need this thread even when the show is good because so few of us can stay on topic in the episode thread, myself included.

The hate and contempt this writing team has for the Jill character is horrible.

At least Latham and Smith ignored her, but this writing team purposely tries to damage her and go out of their way to humiliate her at every turn.

My question is, do they hate Jill the character or do they hate Jess Walton?

I feel that, during the whole Katherine/Marge thing, and for a little bit of time, Jill was... OK. Just OK. However, once there was this little thing that happened concerning, I don't know, Walton's salary/contract? and all that... hmmmm, was Jill ever the same afterwards? wink.gif It's just been getting worse and worse.

It's hard to stay on topic when the show is so much crap.
