Finally watched AMC’s anniversary episodes, and I have to give the two highly touted shows two big thumbs down. Poor Kelly Ripa looked like she’d rather have been trapped in Haiti than filming this lightweight, unimaginative, and contrived show special.

Gee Nelson. Do you think you could wait until Haitians stop burying their thousands of dead in mass graves before using their tragedy to make a point?

Beyond the callousness, it's also quite dumb. Kelly Ripa wasn't forced to appear on AMC. She went back as a labor of love, and I thought she seemed just fine.

I have to agree that was down right disrespectful.

He is such a douchebag, I can't stand Nelson or the outrageous crap he says. He's a disrespectful HACK. That statement should be edited out of the report, it's just wrong...

I don't think it should be edited out. I think TVGuide.ca's readers deserve to know that this is how Nelson thinks.

I, too, am hopeful that "somebody" calls him on this classless insensitivity (that somebody being Kelly Ripa). But I think those of us who found this offensive should contact TVGuide and let them know that, at the very least, Branco's editor fell down on the job and more likely they want to reconsider whether Nelson Branco is an appropriate representative of their publication.

What makes it worse is that what he said isn't remotely true, anyone could see from interviews that Kelly was genuinely touched to be back on the AMC set.

As long as people continue to read/discuss NB's column, I don't think he'll be going anywhere. I'm at the point that I believe TVGCA doesn't care if he makes them look bad.

I did have to comment on this:

• Loving Tom Pelphrey as nuJames, and his chemistry opposite Colleen Zenk Pinter, but this Fountain of Youth storyline has failed to break out for one reason and one reason only — the involvement of that twit, Alison.

Oh yeah let's blame Alison, never mind the whole story is stupid and even CZP can't save it

People know that Nelson says stuff like this ALL the time, so why continue to give him the attention he clearly revels in? He must be aware it'll piss people off, that's why I'd say he continues to do it.

I know what you're saying but IMHO, yes we all know Nelson says stupid stuff but this comment is above and beyond - or more accurately below and beyond. I don't think he said it to get attention. I think he's so lost his perspective that it never occurred to him that it wasn't appropriate for this real, recent, hellish global tragedy didn't deserved to be trivialized and like I said above that's not just his failing but his editor's. Even the editor of a high school newspaper would look at that statement and say, "Too soon."

Okay, I'm done. Everyone deserves to make up their own mind.

WowI am SHOCKED he hated the AMC anniversary ep. He has NEVER liked anything AMC related--and this was pre Pratt. He admitted yearsagoin an interview it was a show he had no history with or real affection for, yet he tries to act like he's a longterm fan who just wants it to reutn to how it was.

I think it's kind of annoying to say the anniversary show wasn't imaginative. The show was certainly not perfect but the concept was much different than the usual anniversary show.
