Season 7 directors confirmed. Alan Taylor returns from his unfortunate stint in movies. Miguel Sapochnik ("Hardhome" and the last two episodes of this season)ย is taking the year off apparently, hopefully back in S8.

GOT is taking a bit of a break before starting next season. No airdate set yet.

ย

โ€œWe donโ€™t have an air date yet,โ€ Benioff and Weiss said. โ€œWeโ€™re starting a bit later because at the end of this season, โ€˜Winter is hereโ€™ - and that means that sunny weather doesnโ€™t really serve our purposes any more. So we kind of pushed everything down the line, so we could get some grim, grey weather even in the sunnier places that we shoot."

As long as they don't suddenly tell us season 7 isn't coming until 2018. I can wait a couple extra months. But I'm glad they're committing so much to getting the right look and feel (which is typical).

Michelle Fairley (Catelyn) is going to be appearing in Series 2 of Sky Atlantic's excellent thriller series Fortitude, a mystery set in the Arctic. She'll apparently be playing the wife of Dennis Quaid, who's another new character.ย The show features a slew of Brit TV and some GOT alumni, including Richard Dormer (Beric Dondarrian).ย Series 1 aired on Pivot in the U.S. and is now streaming on Amazon Prime, I highly recommend it.

I'll check it out. I love shows that are set in places other than LA and NY.
