Happy New Year everybody!

With the end of the 2000s comes the 2010s, if we can agree on one thing it's that daytime is in desperate need of some changes.

Thus, what are this year's resolutions for daytime?!

I'm glad you're posting again. You've been missed by a lot of people.

Resolutions:

- Don't get so obsessed over skinny young white people. Don't act as if you are doing minorities a favor if you have a 5 minute story with actors doomed to fail, in a half-written story full of stereotypes.

- If you are in charge of a soap, or a network, don't get involved in interviews which are all about how awesome you think you are or involve you making stupid comments which will make people avoid your soap.

- Don't write based on couples, write based on characters.

- Learn how to pace a story. Empty spaces and confusing messes punctuated by the death or assault of the month is played out.

- Stop hating women. Stop assuming viewers hate women.

The new year is off to a good start...

Daytime Fan is back!!!

As for the soaps, get back to the core characters and play out the stories beat by beat.Have the generations interact and go for character based stories.

More minorities,and issue based stories.

All of this plus start writing stories driven by the female point of view.

People behind the scenes and loyalist fans should understand that when someone is criticizing their show, whether or NOT you agree with it, it's still a valid concern. Obviously, no one is going to be able to convince me that something is the best damn thing ever written if I think it is garbage and vice-versa. But this "shutting down" of fans (by people like Maria Bell or fanwankers here) who want to watch stories that are logical and coherent is what has put daytime in the place that it's in today. People need to stop being so sensitive and wake the f*ck up. If daytime is to survive another 10 years, then the industry needs to be honestly appraised by both the people in charge and the fans!

For my main soaps it would be:

OLTL

- To kill off Stacy, so she can never return.

- Send Gigi/Rex packing.

- Expand on Ford, and integrate him in the cast so he can stick around for awhile.:wub::wub:

- Integrate Cris, Layla, and Rachel into the cast.

- Let Ross come back from the dead, so Dani will never accept Todd as her father.

- Keep Starr/Cole on backburner. :)

- Give Marty some meaty material.

DAYS

- Make Bricole happen finally!

- Kill of Arianna.

- Re-establish the Horton Family.

- Bring back Nicholas Alamain.

- Put Sami on backburner for a LOOOOOOOONG time.

- Give Maggie an emmy-worthy storyline.

Y&R

- Make Adam pay for his crimes.

- Get rid of the Scooby gang.

- Bring back Drucilla.

- Fire MAB, Sheffer, Hamner, and Rauch. :D

ATWT

- My only wish is that they can pull everything together and have a kickass finale.

I watch the other soaps sproadically, but really don't care what they do in the new year, because they suck for the most part.

Apart from the writer changes I listed in the writers/directors thread...

Y&R

-Recast Malcolm, Abby, Lily, Heather and (if Thad agrees to stay) Victoria

-Bring back Rachel Kimsey as Mac

-Send Amber and Deacon back to B&B

-Write out Daniel, Jeff and Gloria (All good actors but horrible characters)

-Give the Shick fans their insipid couple back, pair Phyllis with Adam and have them make life hell for the Newmans (but not in a psycho way)

-Bring back Diane (Susan Walters is preferable, but Donnelley is okay too)

-Break up Lane and pair Cane with someone less nauseating

-Put Kevin Schmidt, Vanessa Marano, Yani Gellman and Wilson Bethel on contract

-It's not funny anymore, Maria - UPDATE THE DAMN OPENING!!!

B&B

-Trim the cast: Donna, Justin, Marcus, Thomas and Owen can go

-Reunite Eric and Stephanie

-Bring back Amber and Deacon

-New couples: Thorne & Sandy, Rick & Amber, Deacon & Steffy

-Bring back Sheila - B&B needs her more than Y&R does
