Apparently Malloy was a bit of diva himself, the guy who played Rusty commented on one of the Locher Rooms that when he first joined the show Malloy came up and said, "I'm the (leading man, heart throb, whatever) here so don't go p*ssing on my leg" which was weird as they were totally different characters...and the Roxie actress chimed in "Oh..Larkin Malloy" like she had experiences with him (which is weird as I thought she was stoned most of the time) and Zimmer even rolled her eyes.

The Raven actress responded to me after I said casually that he was gay (I thought everyone knew) that "Oh, no..and I  should KNOW" (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) so Larkin, was a very, interesting person.

That might explain why AMC also went out of their way to make his character on that show (Travis Montgomery) look so awful after doing such a great job pairing him with Susan Lucci.  Chances are, Lucci had had her fill of him, too, lol.

And that's really a shame to me, because Larkin Malloy was a favorite of mine across three different soaps: first, EON; then, GL; and later, AMC.

Speaking of Stephen Yates, does anyone know what the hell happened to him?  He seems to have dropped off the face of the earth!

That would be Sharon Rose Gabet who is pretty active with EON fandom on Facebook, I believe. She also played Brittany on AW but that was not a good experience for her while EON was. On AW she went on trial for shooting Peter & it was that stunt where the audience was the jury.

This I didn't know about (either part, but particularly a meltdown?).

It's too bad, he was great on each show. Though that he had an attitude to match many of his characters does not surprise me.

Yeah, I heard or read something eons ago about Malloy having some kind of meltdown.  IIRC, wasn't he on some balcony, shouting to people on the street and having imaginary sword fights, or something?  It was sad; and afterward, he never had another, long-term role on daytime again.

It appears he has no acting credits since the early 90's. You would think he would have done another soap or returned to one of his previous ones. In the ATWT thread we were discussing Lisa's sons Chuckie and Scott. He didn't spring to mind when I made casting suggestions, but Yates would have filled one of those roles nicely. Maybe give him a different look with a beard or stache.

I HATED him on GL...the snarling, the flared nostrils, the affected acting...he only worked as a pr*ck.  I did love him on Edge, though only when he was playing fake bad Sky...maybe after his car crash something changed but he seemed so unpleasant after that. But I did think he did a good job as the crazy doctor who invented the aging serum on ATWT. He was filmed drunk or whatever, swinging a sword out a hotel room and it was on Access Hollywood or something.

Was Kyle a replacement for Josh?

If I have the timeline right, Robert Newman departed 1984 and returned 1986, and Larkin Malloy arrived 1984 and departed 1987.

Basically...he practically steps into Josh's life. He got Billy as a brother, he's fighting with HB and lusting after Reva.  Robert's last scenes aired late November 84 (HB has a heart operation, Vanessa gives birth to Bill) and Kyle shows up in town in late December. Then Josh returns after Kyle and Reva's aborted wedding. I'm not exactly sure of Malloy's last airdate, but it's soon afterward.

    • Same here.  Anyone who voluntarily left Margo's penthouse set (except to go overseas or to Heaven) was immediately on my blacklist.  lol.

    • The penthouse was my favorite set... and it changed hands from Margo to Draper/April to Miles/Nicole then to just Miles... before he opted to give that beautiful place for that drab house with the even more drab Beth.  That was a jump the shark moment for me LOL
    • The storyline April and Draper are involved in during the summer/autumn of 1979 seems fairly "benign" but soon turns very serious.  April has a VERY intrusive, wealthy mother (Margo Huntington Dorn).  Margo knows that April and Draper (who've recently had a miscarriage and are theoretically never going to be able to conceive another baby) want to buy a house.  Margo hoodwinks them into buying a house they can't afford.  The house is listed at $100,000 (about $400,000 in today's dollars).  Margo pays the first $35,000 and leads Draper to believe the asking price of the house is $65,000 instead of $100,000.  If Draper finds out his meddling mother-in-law paid 1/3 of the cost of the home and tricked him, he'll be mad as hell.   Meanwhile, Draper has received a job offer from a prestigious New York law firm.  Margo pulls some strings and has the senior partner in the firm rescind the offer, to keep April in Monticello.  If Draper finds out about THAT, he'll be even angrier with Margo than he will be about the house trickery.  All of that is "bubbling under the surface" in the fall of 1979 but will be the next major story, as everything begins to spiral out of control.   Yep, you've got the Karrs and their very basic middle-class house, the Victorian-themed place where Miles and Nicole live, April and Draper's old craftsman house with the exposed beams, the Madisons & their Mission revival house, and Margo with her 1970s-chic penthouse.  Each of the sets is completely different.  And their budget was like zero, lol.
    • It felt weird and out of place.  I get. While I agree with those on here that he's gotten better, it's still really bad. I'm not seeing the "good" acting some see...but I'll give him a B for being better than when he first started. There's potential. I'll leave it at that.
    • It's like watching paint dry at a slow-ass pace. It's bad acting. Entirely. Excellent? With Claybon? Never. Ever.

    • Ah! Good to hear. Isn't it especially odd to think that house fictionally exists not far from the Karrs?  Or, that it was designed non-fictionally by the same person who designed April's place?
    • Good to know I'm not the only one who noticed that. Strange and awkward, and I don't know what they're doing with those fades.   -- Finally, had to laugh at how many Emmys this board passed out today.
