Members DRW50
Thanks for reading it and commenting. That's why I enjoy posting these. I'd totally forgotten she was headwriter at AW, and I think that was during a sluggish period for the show. It sounds like she fit GL better, although I'm not sure what happened with her after Culliton and Long came in.
Members Susan Hunter
"Guiding Light, #1 in '82" Did it happen? I know the show got very close to #1 or may have even beaten GH, but I can't remember which year.
Members rlj
No, GH was still #! in 82, I think GL went #1 in 84.
Members DeliaIrisFan
It is an incredible find. Thanks again, Carl. Too bad Marland must have left GL right after this.

Members DRW50
From Daytime TV. This refers to 1971. Lee Richardson and Larry Gates joined in October as Capt. Jim Swanson and Ira Newton.
Members Paul Raven
Both Larry Gates and William Roerick, who became beloved characters in later years until their deaths had appeared previously on GL as Ira and Bruce Banning respectively.
Members DRW50
Not to mention Jordan Clarke. I wonder how much Bruce was seen.
Members Paul Raven
Bruce was played by different actors throughout the 60's. I get the feeling that he was seen maybe a few times a year at special occasions.Meta had been reduced to a minor character,it seems,so Bruce's absences would not have had to be explained too often. Variety May 12th 1971 Barbara Rodell switched from CBS-TV's "Secret Storm" soaper to same web's "Guiding Light"

Members DRW50
Thanks. I will watch that later. Yet another transition period for GL...I wonder if this was when Dinah had that "story" with her Eurotrash friends.
