Not sure if this has been posted before, but this thread wouldn't be complete without the full version of "On The Franches Mountains"

All My Shadows, thank you for trying to help me. I believe that I finally figured out how to solve this problem, however. Previously, if one wanted to embed a video, all one needed to do was paste the embed URL and choose the "HTML On - Auto Linebreak Mode" post option. Now, in order to embed, one has to click the "Link" toolbar button and past the embed URL link there. (As before, the "HTML On - Auto Linebreak Mode" post option has to be selected.)

Here is the Card Sharks promo I referred to above:

<iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/RwL4yX7Nb_I" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I specifically remember watching Card Sharks when I was home sick one day--I must have been no older than 7 or 8 as it was in my old house, and it was a special episode with the contestants being Chippendal Dancers. I was extremely confused as I thought they some how had a connection to the Disney characters.

Alphanguy, thank you so much for sharing that entire mountain climber song. It is amazing how different the rest of the song sounds from just the portion that is played during Cliff Hangers.

Eric, your confusion reminds me of the time I first watched an episode of Married...with Children. I was seven or eight at the time, and I began watching midway through an episode where Al, Peggy, Steve, and Marcy went on a game show (hosted by David Leisure). Earlier in the episode, Al and Peggy pretended to be Steve and Marcy (in order to get on the game show); however, since I did not see this part of the show, I honestly thought the character played by Ed O'Neill was Steve and the character played by Katey Sagal was Marcy. (And when Steve and Marcy later appeared on the game show, I thought the character played by David Garrison was Al and the character played by Amanda Bearse was Peggy.)

Holy #%$ a woman just won 4 cars.

Race Game (or any other pricing game) has never before been played for four cars. There's a pricing game called Triple Play that (always) offers three cars, and on extremely rare occasions, Most Expen$ive and One Wrong Price have been played for three cars as well.

Ruta Lee, of High Rollers, will have a small role on DAYS next year.

I really enjoyed the Wink Martindale version of High Rollers (1987-88). It is a shame that it only lasted a year.

One of the most entertaining appearances of a soap actor on a game show occurred when Tonja Walker (dressed as Alex) appeared on "It Takes Two" in 1997. This short lived Dick Clark-hosted show, however, was rather boring: all that it seemed to involve was teams of two players making numeric estimates of various facts. (Each player would give his own estimate, which would be averaged with the other team member's estimate; whichever team came closest to the actual figure won the round.)

I'm not sure what she's doing there but she's not playing Alex. It's nice to see her on a game show though - it's a fun little bit.

Thanks for posting this. I just can't watch Dick Clark for more than a few minutes.

Carl, I am sorry for the confusion. She was not playing Alex, but rather was merely dressed to resemble the sexy character she portrayed (until she changed her outfit). Tonja really did seem to be having a good time, and she was a big hit with the audience.

From that clip, it is obvious that non-soap viewers know little about soaps. Before I started watching soaps, I too did not realize that each soap produces 250 new episodes a year (with no reruns), so it is a little understandable why some of those guesses for the number of OLTL episodes were so low.

Oh Lord, you guys thought I knew about and loved soaps? You clearly don't know how much further back I go with game shows. Beware. laugh.png

I've always found it amazing how much of Goodson-Todman's library has stayed intact. Here are two of their shows that are almost completely gone: the original 60s version of Match Game, and the 1971-1975 version of Password/Password All-Stars (and I've never seen either of these versions, sadly):

One of my all time faves as a child watching GSN was Child's Play, a short-live game show hosted by Bill Cullen (his final Goodson game show) where kids defined words that adults had to guess. Here, they try to describe Bill Cullen:

He was said to love hosting this game show best, as he had never had any kids of his own, and he geuninely enjoyed interacting with them.

I LOVED him as the host of Blockbusters, too.

Qfan and MissLlanviewPA, thank you so much for sharing those classic game show clips.

Sorry for not bringing this up earlier (as I hadn't seen this particular episode until just now), but J.R. Martinez appeared on the 4/5 episode of TPIR (he popped by during the second one-bid round as well as during the showcases). This episode is still available on cbs.com. (For those who choose to watch this episode, I challenge you to tell me what is so bad about today's TPIR. Although Drew once really sucked, he is now pretty good. And even with Bob gone, the changes that TPIR has experienced are not nearly as drastic as those found on any 40+ year soap.)

WREYTube has some great closing/prize plugs on his channel from different classic game shows, including this one from Blockbusters. All the stuff GSN used to show back in the day, but can't/won't show anymore sad.png .

And my very favorite theme of Jeopardy, from 1992-1997. I was DEVASTATED when they updated the theme in 1997--and I was EIGHT YEARS OLD. laugh.png I actually think that was a reason I watched the show a lot less until 2004, when Ken Jennings had his amazing run. It's still a dream of mine to appear on that show someday (insert wistful sigh here).

And there are also some great videos of the different Jeopardy Tournament of Champions intros/Final Jeopardy questions of those tournaments through the years, including this one from the 10th season, featuring champions from the 9th season:

Pat & Vanna wub.png . Seriously, who DIDN'T want to see something like this at one time or another? laugh.png

And remembering it on the 5,000th episode:

And yes, they were both single then.
