I do not know the exact timeline, but CBS cancelled SFT. And Brian Frons was the exec at CBS who stated that SFT was a "dinosaur." So, he ended up cancelling the show twice!

On another board the subject of Anthony George's (Tony Vincente) acting has been discussed. What did you think of his acting while he was SFT?

"Search for Tomorrow," the CBS-TV soaper, is undergoing a virtually complete personnel changover on the production side. Charles Irving, who created the soaper with Roy Winsor, has resigned as exec producer due to his commitment on the NBC-TV "Kitty Foyle" serial; Frank Dodge is replacing.

I wonder if that's the only reason Irving left. Going for Kitty Foyle was...a mistake. I wonder if this led to the changes that upset Mary Stuart.

September 1972 TV Radio Mirror

Earl Wilson's column

I asked Kelly Wood, who's been on Search For Tomorrow for three years, how she got into it - was she discovered at a drugstore counter?

"No, it was hard work, my dear," she answered.

Hard work included playing in Call me Madam in Washington, D.C., and trying to curtsy to the delight of a hilarious audience. She was puzzled by the reaction until she discovered that her full velveteen dress split in the back and red bloomers were blooming forth in full backside view.

On another occasion she found it hard work performing in Bye, Bye Birdie in an outdoor theater in Winnipeg, when a strong breeze blew the set over.

"My parents are amazed I can be on Search For Tomorrow," she said. "They didn't know iI had a nasty side. When I was home in San Diego on my vacation, my 85-year-old grandmother, Mrs. Marie Wetzel, said, "How could you be so mean to Scott!'"

Back on the subject of Charles Irving. Kitty Foyle on NBC was a half-hour serial, while Search for Tomorrow was a quarter-hour in length.

I would presume that the pay would be more for a half-hour serial.

Does anybody know why Robert Reed's tenure as Lloyd Kendall was so brief. He joined SFT in 1986, but if I'm not mistaken, he soon left the show and the part was recast once more.
