B&B: Owen Speculation

So, Owen is going to be "the target of revenge"... and I think he goes missing in San Diego, no? Plus the way he was acting on TV...

...are we in twin territory? Owen Knight reminds me too much of April Knight...

are we going to have an Owen Doppelganger around town?

It's the mere idea of giving this guy, an already underdeveloped character, another underdeveloped role that the show will probably do nothing with, unless they decide to do a "Is Owen Dead" story. At which point, who would really care about Owen dying? Brandon Beemer is hot and all, but give me a break.

Are you all KIDDING me? KIDDING me?

Owen with an evil twin? With the same last name as Amber's evil twin?

Just when I have been enjoying this show more?

I think I need to get interested in talk shows or judge shows or something.

...which is a fair assessment since he's having trouble pulling a single role convincingly. He's ok on B&B and was even decent on DAYS but he gets "mild" material to work with for good reason.

I don't think this story is going to be about Owen. It's probably more driven from Rick Hearst who hopefully won't be painted all psycho any day now...

As for DAMAGES: season 1 was good, season 2 was reminiscent of B&B though: fabulous actress (Glenn Close/Susan Flannery) in muddy story territories.

    • That's right, Kim Zimmer was pregnant with Jake Weary when Reva was pregnant with Shayne.  I don't think I've seen a photo of Mr. Weary, but from what I can tell Jake looks so much like his mother.
    • The show of late has had me in hog heaven, LOL! But, really, my soaps & I are getting along just fine.  GH is excellent. BTG is beyond fabulous. DAYS is so much better.  What more could I possibly ask for? I know, 30 hours in a day?!!!
    • At the start of 1982 under Ellis/Hunt (on CBS) SFT was solidly in the middle of the 13 soaps pulling in between a 7.5 and 6.5 with high 20s share. The final week on CBS the show garnered a 6.3/23. The first week on NBC and mostly thereafter, the ratings were in the middle 3s with a 12 share! I I think under Tomlin 1 and under Glynn the show might have hit over a 4 and 14 but one week only or so.  Capitol didn't get those numbers until middle of summer and in the first few months hit the 4s and low 5. By year end it was in the low 6s/23 share but struggled for the remainder of its run.   NBC's Search was never going to get 6 / 23 shares but when they were solidly in the high 3s and 12/13 share they invariably fired the writers and producer. Dumb.
    • Wasn't there talk of bringing back Dan Kennicott at some point?  Like, sometime during the late '90's or early '00's?
    • Cliff was Logan's protégé, from the time he was a legal clerk up and until he became ADA. I think you have to have seen Deborah's father for that relationship to make sense, it is very Oedipal.  Mr. Saxon was a charming mobster and was briefly involved romantically with Geraldine.
    • If the actors in question had studied Agnes Nixon's character naming conventions, they could've saved themselves a lot of disappointment. In Pine Valley, there's no way that Wally is going to win in a romantic entanglement with Sean.  Just as Dan Kennicott was never going to be as intriguing as Benny Sago. She was more subtle than Bill Bell, and I can't be certain she even personally named all of these men.  But there is a pattern to be studied. Cliff Warner wasn't as emotionally driven as his name would suggest, but we knew Sean and Linda meant trouble before they even appeared on-screen.
    • There's also an audio-only clip on YT where Gail lashes out at Monica after learning she had had an affair with her late husband (not knowing or understanding, of course, that, in fact, he had raped Monica).  I remember listening to that years ago and thinking, "Wow, now I see why Douglas Marland enjoyed writing for her!"
    • It would be so CAMP if she just showed up dressed like this to the hospital or a Dupree family function and pretended to be Nicole

    • It's still so wild to see Jake Weary all grown up when I still remember when his mom was pregnant with him (on GL, and IRL).
    • I agree.  Of course, I haven't seen any of her work on DAYS or LIAMST, but I have seen her stuff on other shows (SFT, GH, LOL, FC and KL) and I think she was very, very good.
