AMC: The Moving/Not Moving Thread

NB is drinking way too much caffeine. I couldn't read his whole column.

What I "LOVED" was the thing about Megan McTavish coming back (All is forgiven? REALLY?) Pratt's AMC may be boring, boring, boring, boring, but it is in no way as offensive and destructive as McTavish's AMC. I mean...everything from her last tenture -- from the unabortion, to Greg Madden, to the Satin Slayer -- was a complete wreck.

Yes. The Purgatory stint was, no pun intended, an unforgivable sin! So much damage has been done to this show because of the complete audacity of this writer to attempt to turn this into her own show. Such blatant disrespect to the show, its history and its viewers. All is definitely NOT forgiven. Branco should stick to tossing Carlivati's salad and leave it at that.

I thought Zach shooting Josh in the head and then this all being rushed through in a week was offensive. Stuart being killed, Marian being rushed off to a psych ward, Adam being turned into Annie's cuckold, I find offensive. The story that would have been told if Tamara and Eden had stayed on the show - the confused lesbian being turned straight by a real man - would have been offensive.

I do agree that the show is less destructive now but that's because the show was already so hollowed out, there isn't much left to destroy.

Good riddance to Minshew & Kaye. Nothing against them personally, but Zendull turned into one of the most annoying, bland, and repetitive couples ever. I won't be missing Moncrief, Turner, and Stause either(too bad Williams, RPG, Vasi, and Stephanie G couldn't go with them).

Those stories were nowhere near as offensive and disgusting as the s.hit McTrash was writing IMO.

That's because we're becoming immune to it by now. I do think what they've done to Adam and Stuart is very offensive.

I don't find the Adam/Stuart story offensive. Unnesscesary and ridiculous, yes, but not offensive.

I know a young lady by the name of Wendy Moniz who'd make for a *fabulous* Kendall. :ph34r:

I thought it was unnecessary and ridiculous up to a point, but after we got Marian shipped off to the nuthouse and Adam begging the hospital for Viagra as the headcase he is now devoted to lusts after his nephew, I started getting offended. Not that Adam is immune to bad love interests (Krystal), but I just hate seeing him reduced to this.

Getting back to who's moving and who's not, I must say I am very disappointed that so many starts completely caved into what Fron$$$$$ wanted them to do. While some of them really need the money (and thus had no choice but to move), certain big names (specifically Lucci and Canary) are wealthy enough to the point where they could have told Fron$$$$$ "F*ck you, I'm not moving." This lack of backbone is actually even sickening.

Maybe I'm being completely delusional, but I think that the cast may have been able to stop the move to L.A. from even happening: Say if all the cast members had a meeting, and came to a decision that none of them would move to L.A. Consequently, Fron$$$$$ may have been persuaded to keep the show in NYC, because he obviously couldn't (or wouldn't) fire the entire cast all at once (and then lauch an AMC with an entirely different cast).

Yeah, I wouldn't trade Pratt for McTavish for this reason.

Oh, baby! You're one of them high maintenance boyz, huh, honey? ;)

No, I'm just ocd.

It would be so difficult to get everyone on the same page to do that. Maybe if it was a cast of 5, yes. But not of this size.

OH MY GOD. The thing about Ray MacDonell being paid ONE MILLION DOLLARS a year (and being the second highest paid actor, to boot) is RIDICULOUS, even for NB. My god, who believes the utter sh.t that spews from his column? RM, as much as I love him, has never been an AMC superstar. He has never been elevated above strong supporting character. There is no way that he could've made that kind of money in the first place, and if he did, there is no way he would have maintained that salary over the last decade or so, especially when Frons came in. What a load of horse sh.t I officially declare NB to have the WORST column on the internet. :D

Maybe he was exaggerating but I'm sure Ray was paid well. In most jobs longevity = higher pay. I remember when Agnes Nixon came out saying people were taking paycuts including her, Susan, Michael Knight, and she mentioned Ray which I thought was odd, because I thought, "How much could Ray MacDonnell possibly make?" But he's been there since day 1 so I'm sure he was paid handsomely, but of course was wasted.

Yes you have the right descriptors.

Pratt = unnecessary and ridiculous

McTavish = offensive

I remember Ellen Holly even mentioning Ray in her book. One afternoon she spotted him leisurely and pleasantly browsing the stacks at the NYP library. She watched admiringly and felt a bit envious as a fellow Agnes Nixon/ABC soap original cast member (now a millionaire) was afforded such a simple luxury while she did secretarial work to put food on the table and keep a roof over her head.
