Members DAMfan
CC did say there was talk about Olivia/Holly as a couple - I was glad to see Holly again today and sad she is back with GL ending and yes GL should have used Edmund better and DAM does have chemistry with anyone he works with and would love to see him in Mamma Mia when he begins 9/22 - he is in for a year so maybe I will be able to get to NYC somehow - however I will never forget him as Edmund and I know there are so many GL viewers feeling so sad right now and I know it must be terrible for GL actors as well. Members Soapsuds
It was great seeing Holly today. The rest of the show was blah and ff material. MORE HOLLY!!
Members RoseVioletDaisy
Very true. They don't want Chance to be strong or particularly charismatic. It's about Billy. I'm not sure I "liked" Dinah's exit but considering the eternally self-destructive nature of the character, I appreciated the symmetry of GT's Dinah leaving town the same way she returned, a fugitive on the run for murder. And yet, there was a lot that had changed about her. She wasn't the same selfish basket case running to Vanessa to try to guilt-trip her into saving her like she did after she shot Hart. She tried to do the right thing, protect Henry, and it still blew up in her face but she eventually came clean, told Shayne and Vanessa the truth and even tried to turn herself in before Mallet intervened and got her out of the country. I also liked the change in Vanessa. Rather than trying to insist on her turning herself in, she was sadly re-signed to what Dinah had to do to save herself. The goodbye scene between the two was wonderful. He is a major drama queen and it's sooooooooooooooooooooo not sexy at all. Of course, I prefer my hunks nice and ...um...hunky like Cyrus. Holly & Olivia. I almost can't even bear to think about it because it could've been such an incredible story and so much fun but we'll never see it. Damn it. I have to admit my one problem with Otalia is Natalia. I just can't see Olivia Spencer falling so hard for somebody who is so witless, gutless, and unself-aware. It was planned back in 2001, when Olivia's relationship Josh was starting to crack. We saw the beginning of it onscreen as Olivia and Holly had done alot of bonding before and right after Olivia's disastrous wedding to Josh that Marah spoiled and then they had them fight over Olivia's involvement with Edmund after he had Holly arrested for interviewing Reva after the car accident that blinded her in San Cristobel. Members RoseVioletDaisy
Holly, Blake, and Ed! If only Ross could've been there and not his headstone. Holly, Blake, & Ed's scenes Please register in order to view this content A little flashback...July 16, 1993, when Roger crashes Ed's party at the country club after Holly told Roger that despite their making love, nothing between them had changed and they couldn't be together. This episode was on Michael Zaslow's Emmy reel in '93 and he won that year. This episode was reaired just following MZ's death and features Maureen Garrett's memorial introduction. Members DRW50
Thanks for the clip. I thought some of the writing was empty and pretentious, but I'm glad to get to see Holly again. Was this it? I hope not. Maureen still looks good and she has that understated warmth and intelligence which is nowhere to be found in most soap women now. I think that is what I will miss most about GL. I hate Olivia's hairstyle. Olivia/Holly would have been hot. I saw some clips of them around that time and I do remember some flirting. That was the Labines, right? Probably another reason Rauch helped push them out. His current Y&R crap shows his feelings about gay characters. The scene with Ed and Holly was wonderful and I loved the scene with Ed and Blake. "What did Ross say to you?" "He said my best friend was Ed Bauer." I have missed Ed so much. He brings such stature to the show.
Members baller
thanks as well I hadn't had a chance to watch yet, and that is sooo worth it. I missed Holly....and Holly and Ed. And even the grave scene--glad to see we're getting some moments. LOL 2001--and I keep hearing GL is so committed to the story--and it's taken then this long to do what? Members Mitch
I can't believe that they let Ed and Ross go, but kept Buzz and Frank? Liv and Holly would have been steaming hot.. imagine Holly's neurotic issues with THAT!!! Is CC doing her own makeup..as she looks the best of all the women and seems to have the most makeup on. The cemetary scenes show how this new production format could have flown...and the Beacon Hotel Room show its limitations. Its just too bad they didnt allow GL more money to build more "real," sets and Wheeler forget about her "closed," sets...(do we ever see the fourth wall anyway....) They looked cramped and the lighting sucks to high heaven.
Members DRW50
I think Peter Simon wanted to leave, he was disgusted by the Maryanne Carruthers story and left when his contract was up, didn't he? Or did Wheeler push him out? I can't remember if she was involved.

Members Soapsuds
Well after yesterdays show with Holly and Co. ....today's show sucked big time. Shows like today make me feel no pity that GL is being cancelled.
Members dc11786
Wheeler came aboard in February 2004, first being credited in March. Ed was last seen in early May, which stunk because Michelle was involved in the warehouse explosion after he left. Peter Simon didn't renew his contract under Wheeler, but it was rumored he was only going to be offered recurring had Conboy stayed. I think Wheeler wanted Simon back as they dropped Ed' return when Simon wouldn't return, which made the story even more bizarre than it already was. I remember the Jeffrey was a Bauer rumor. :shudders: Did Maureen Garrett actually say she left over disgust from the Sebastian story? She stayed around for a while after the crappy Sebastian story, which she panned in her recent interview with Mimi Torchin. I just figure Garrett wasn't used because of the massive budget cuts required in the summer of 2005. I loved the possibility of one of the numerous aborted attempts to start a Spaulding/Lewis takeover plot. Holly was alligned with Alan and Blake and Sebastian with Josh. I thought Josh was very fatherly towards Sebastian, and didn't pick up on the homoerotic subtext. I do remember Billy Kay's Shayne always looking like he wanted to get into Jordi Vilasuso's Tony's pants and maybe Wes Ramsay's Sam. Same with Marty West's Shayne lusting after half-brother Sandy. Members DRW50
They wasted such huge opportunities with Jordi and Wes. I remember even SOD said, when naming Sam/Marah/Tony/Catalina as one of the dud stories of 2000, that the only people in the story who had chemistry were Sam/Tony, and they needed to be paired up. Add in Matt Bomer's breathtakingly handsome Ben, who also gave off some gay or bi vibes, and the story would have been there.
Members Dan
This was actually a new piece of information that we found out. I had always thought that it was Ellen Wheeler and Kreizman who completely phased out Holly, but Maureen Garrett, in an interview with SOD before her Wednesday return, said that she was the one who left because of the Sebastian story. Members dc11786
Interesting, I had only read her interview with Torchin and hadn't seen anything about the SOD interview posted. I didn't understand what Garrett's major gripe with the story was. She claimed that Holly was made a victim, but I don't remember Sebastian being all that abusive. Maybe she was referring to the Beth/Sebastian stuff where Holly's jealousy of Beth seemed to be her dependence on Sebastian?
Members DRW50
I know we're all Coopered out, but does anyone else think they should have brought Rocky in for these last few months? He was Jenna's son too, and he grew up with Coop. We should see him when they talk about Coop or when Jenna makes ghostly visits. It's like he never existed.
