Y&R Episode Discussion for the week of July 20

I think Chole/Chance have friendship chemistry, not relationship chemistry.

And sorry, yelling at a woman and forcing her to do things is not making me like Kanan or Deacon. This sh!t is offensive and vulgar, and we have too much of that on this show.

Not to mention, Deacon and Amber's history took place on another show, and I do not remember Decaon being this demenaing on B&B, so why is this crap on Y&R? Why should I care. I don't watch Y&R for B&B stories.

These storylines are all still pretty problematic in the long-run and I find that many of these episodes are so poorly paced and hallow that I can't muster up anything to care about.

I'm sorry, it's hard to enjoy individual scenes when these storylines either suck or are completely offensive.

Thanks solely to the Lily storyline, and even that is rushed.

I see no heart in any other story.

I won't overlook the demeaning way he yelled at Amber and demanded that she put on some tacky lingerie and get into bed. That was nasty and uncalled for. And not to mention how many times he mentioned that they were gonna have sex on his "terms."

Deacon can't leave this show faster. Not only is he not needed and half of the real cast is never used, but he's already ruined.

Not like it's not giving me anything to b!tch about.

On a show were women are constantly victimized, turned into psychos, and see men as the be all and end all of their existence, I'm supposed to be happy about Deacon yelling and tormenting Amber during sex he coerced her into?

Bur Kanan is sexy.

This show hates women, I'm convinced.

The message this show is sending right now is that men all have all the power and women are helpless victims.

I think this show forgot who are the target demo is and the ones who watch soaps the most.

So many bad storylines that are offensive going on right now. It's easy to see why Lily's cancer scare stands out, it's the only thing that deals with emotional family drama, though it too is rushed and has problems.

I could possibly in some weird way understand if Amber had sex with Deacon to free Daniel. But that wasn't simply the case, it wasn't enough that Amber simply has sex with Deacon, but he had to impose his "terms" on her and the sex they were to have. This made it all worse.

Also, maybe, possibly, I could have had less resistance to this story and episode had so much misogyny not been apart of this show the way it currently is.

And, had Sheffer not pulled a similar situation over at DAYS with EJ/Sami, I could have taken it as a simple mistake or misguided intentions. However, the fact is, one of this show's HW's tried a similar situation before and it backfired on his ass. Surely, these people never heard about learning from their mistakes.

Then there's "my vision and my show" Maria Arena Bell, who is a woman, and lets all this misogyny slip onto her show.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

And there's the fact they're telling a B&B story on Y&R. Who cares? Take it to the show these two characters have history on and the show that has a history of making women seem like cartoons and victims.

I'm sorry, there is no way to defend what Deacon did today, and I don't care about how sexy Kanan is or whatever.

This show truly deserves its record low ratings, and if what's happening now is any indication, I hope they'll sink even lower in the ratings...

Don't give me this watching for episode and scenes talk, all of these storylines are problematic, and at least somewhat demeaning.

    • @chrismlAbout Lisa, agree to disagree. Actually at the time she was the only thing my partner & I disagreed about. Naturally she was Team Vicky while I was steadfast as Team Lisa.  About John & twin paternity, I think that like the 3 pillows was a transitory idea someone had that no one else agreed with. More of the attempt to accommodate Philece. About MJ, co-sign, 100% agree, if there were more degrees I would claim them. About Wally & Felicia, always a fan. Mitch? Eh, take or leave. Although I do agree that WGE is a really striking man. Who have I left out? I don't know so that's all I got.

    • Dallas peaked early, IMO. Maybe not a fair statement as I’m still making my way through the first half of its run, but I think it’s hard to argue to point that S3 into S4 was its high point. Back to Knots. Wrapping up “And Never Brought to Mind.” Greg’s introduction kinda took me by surprise. I low-key dreaded his arrival bc I know he very quickly gets to the center of the show, but even though they wasted no time connecting him with Mac, Abby, Gary, and Karen, it still feels like a gradual intro. The juxtaposition of the ending of the Chip story with the heating up Abby’s plotting is quite symbolic of the changes the show was going through. I absolutely cannot imagine Kenny and Ginger having any part in any of this. Yall, the Gary/Val piano theme that they pull out from time to time is my FAVORITE. I find myself humming it constantly.
    • Bloodshed is inevitable now. It’s another reason I’m glad Black people aren’t getting involved in these protests. As awful as this is, I keep reminding myself that 54 percent of Latino men voted for Trump. These people were put in harm’s way by members of their own communities and sometimes even members of their own families. Too many people decided to touch the stove.
    • Maybe I'm still in denial, but nothing about Neighbours' ongoing social media output gives the vibe of a show that's ending. In today's 'Roundup' video, Alan Fletcher referenced that production finishes in five weeks, but in all the show's posts the cast are as jovial and lighthearted as ever. Remarkably so for people who are about to lose their jobs.    Perhaps they're just putting a brave face on things, and I know they approached the previous axing with a positive attitude. Maybe putting an upbeat face on things is a collective way of showing potential backers that there's still life in the show? Or is it possible that they already know the show has been saved, and we'll get an announcement next month when filming wraps and the show 'rests'?   Does any of that make sense?!
    • A very good week for male eye candy on GH. New Michael is beautiful, Curtis's arms looked great in that polo shirt, Cody looks even more handsome with his new haircut AND we got Marco in swim shorts rocking his lovely bod and chest fur.

    • Yeah when Jamey Giddens did breakdowns for DAYS, he would sometimes state in tweets that specific things were his idea that he had pitched to Ron.
    • I don't, since they've clearly incorporated them into Tomas' storyline, and I happen to like his tattoos, but his jackets not fitting doesn't mean they're trying to cover his tattoos. The clothing overall isn't the issue; it's the fit. And I expect(ed) more from Jeresa Featherstone and her team. Very disappointed. He's the only male, overall, whose costume irritates me.
    • "And OMG, watching the scenes of Roger's return in comparison...the quality in the writing really nosedived. The stupid mask." Very much agreed.  Having Roger hide behind a mask for weeks/months, with it culminating with him swinging in on a vine at Blake/Phillip's wedding....geez.  So juvenile. IMO, Guiding Light never did a good job reintroducing major characters, either from the dead or elsewhere.  Masked balls = awful.  Amish = awful. When Reva was brought back from the dead, she should've just showed up in Springfield as Reva, and informed everyone that she had been gone for years because she felt like it.  She had a four-year fling with some dude who ended up dumping her due to disloyalty. Josh would be pissed and declare that their love is not *always* but *sometimes* and he'd act accordingly.  Her kids would hate her.
    • Agreed. The Emmys next year are gonna be a pretty tough competition and I hope we get a Days sweep lol  Not only does Deidre deserve a nomination for these last few weeks, but I also think Paul Telfer, Raven Bowens, Carson Boatman, Dan Feuerriegel and Alison Sweeney have good chances as well.
