B&B: Week of July 6, 2009

Thank you Pammy for providing such delicious entertainment. LOL! I think she might have actually helped improve on the whole show-stopper and buzz for Forrester Creations.

Yeah, I'm thinking this will not work to Pam's intentions. I'm thinking this will help Forrester.

I kind of enjoyed all the Jackie M folks sitting around and eating pizza. What a crew. They did evoke a bit of the spirit of Spectra, although I missed old Sally growling through the proceedings.

Taylor though. Just no. I loved that she was stuck sitting next to Mr. Penswallow -- err -- Penhollow.

ETA: And I continue to really like the Bill-Katie chemistry. I hope this goes somewhere....

Although the Bell universe is all f*cked up. I've got Deacon and Amber getting me surprisingly warmed up ("Let out your wild side") over on Y&R, while Brad and Victoria (that's who they are!) have more chemistry than they ever did when they were married over at B&B.

I'm kinda over Pam and her vendetta against Donna, but Alley Mills and Jennifer Gareis were both terrific today.

I bet Pam's stunt backfires on her, and it's the one thing that saves Eric's company from going to the wall.

Otherwise, a fairly ho hum episode for me, especially as you can't have a Forrester fashion show without Brooke(KKL must have been taking a break).

And Taylor? Hunter Tylo turns me off, those lips seem to get bigger every week.

Okay, I am absolutely LOVING B&B right now. Everything about today's episode was perfect (aside from Thomas and Steffy salivating over their parents getting back together ).

Did you see how huge Hunter's ass was the other day when her and Ridge were hugging by the pool? I didn't watch that episode but my mom taped it so I could see that the padded panties were back (or Hunter has actually gone for implants).

Donna's dress was awful, the gold lemme was a massive improvement. I can never get over how their fashion shows only ever feature 5 dresses. It's like no one has ever sat down and watched a real fashion show.

I think everyone noticed the Tylo caboose. You know, that's basically a good womanly *ss...nothing to be ashamed of (she's fit)...but they dressed her wrongly.

The fashion show seemed very Target-level to me...that didn't come across as couture to me, but I don't know anything about that stuff.

I sort of roll my eyes with Alley Mills. I don't see any nuance...just broad slapstick. I guess that was entertaining enough on TPIR, but at the conclusion of that, Donna and Pam hugged because they'd won that double showcase together.

For me, it would have been nice to then show that TPIR represented a thawing of the relationship...of the women showing they could work together for the good of Forrester, and that they had some common ground. (Implausible as that would be after Pam sicced a hungry bear on Donna).

However, instead, we're right back as though nothing ever happened. Pam's honey-and-gold confetti trick seemed unmotivated...just another tanning booth and teeth bleaching caper.

I'm kind of over the honey schtick.

I yearn for a little dignity in this tale.

I'd much rather see Pam and Donna have to work together against a common enemy -- say Bill Spencer Jr. -- and grudgingly have to help one another in the face of common goals.

Another Forrester fashion show, another parade of sub-standard gowns straught outta 1993. B&B really needs to hire some young Patricia Field wannabe to take over the B&B wardrobe department. And they should really start referring to fashion in a way that the audience can relate to. Sex & the City did it. Gossip Girl does it. Heck, even Y&R namedrops Birkin bags and Pauline Trigere wedding gowns. There is no reason for B&B the "fashion soap" to exist in this non-pop culture-referring generic bubble. It makes it look like an episode of Diagnosis Murder.

And Donna should just give up walking down a Forrester runaway. Runway = Mark of Death for her, just like it was for Kimberly Fairchild before her. FC throws an entire make-up counter at her face, zips her up in some sateen thing and shoves her onto the equivalent of walk-the-plank. Either that, or they have her locked in the FC sauna.

I love Pam but I agree with Mark. This slapstick rivalry is not just tiresome, it is lazy. This whole episode (apart from watching the Jackie M crew dig into pizza and beer to watch the show!) was repetitive and old. I would have much preferred a technical snafu caused the mess-up with the glitter, and then Donna would instantly blame a (this time) innocent Pam. Or Stephanie. The war between Jackie M and FC would heat up even more.

Already your ideas in the last paragraph are more intriguing and interesting than anything we saw.

Although I glean there was a purpose to having Pam be the instigator. It is all about "solidifying the humor" at Jackie M, if you catch my drift....

That would be a much more interesting story ... which is why it didn't happen. They're not so much into "interesting" anymore.

OT: Okay, am I crazy or does that ad that seems to always be at the top of SON about "Do they look older than they really are" or whatever, does the guy in the middle look like Ed Scott and the lady on the right look like Barbara Bloom?

What can I say about this show? God bless JG for taking one for the team yet again with this latest honey incident. She seems like a really good sport to me. I loved the way Donna just shrugged and smiled honey/glitter and all. I actually like the Pam/Donna rivalry and think it is one of the best things on this show. I'm not saying it's good, but it's better than 95% of the show as far as I'm concerned. Bridget is another bright spot for me, but as long as she is with Nick, I'm not very excited about her scenes.

This show is so popular, it looks like it might warrant a monthly B&B thread, instead of weekly.
