"...Angel" was the the next logical step in her lucky charms title guide. I heard her new single Obscessed which is so ick. i was hoping she'd go Lady GaGa and do some pop again. Will I still buy it the first day it comes out..yep!

Apparently, she's working with Walter Afanasieff again. Though, I seriously doubt she can pull off the type of ballads she used to sing. Her voice has deteriorated considerably.

But really you can't expect much originality from a Mariah Carey album anyway. It's usually a very recycled sound that she employs because it's hip.

You're totally right about everything you say, I do really agree.

It's only that somehow, I don't even know exactly why, I am able to ignore the mid-tempo R&B drivel (you've said something like that about her previous effort :P) and be satisfied with what I'm getting.

Knowing Mariah, I'm sure she'd want Walter to contemporize his sound a little more to be more of the moment, so who really knows. Walter's production might deliver, but the whispery crap Mariah considers singing these days sure as hell doesn't give me any hope for decent ballads.

Also, as you know, ballads aren't as commercial as they used to be, and Mariah is all about those #1 singles...

Walter hasn't produced a hit song in quite some time, so this is a really surprising move from Mariah. But who knows if any of his songs will be singles.

Her voice has sounded terrible in recent years and this song showcases that well. She was once known for her voice, now has been reduced to lip synching most performances. This song sounds about five years old. This and her previous two cds could all be combined into one album that would be a GREAT album in 2003, but where is the artist progression? She's gotten so lazy.

I think her voice is doing well. She hasn't lost it, those tales have been exaggerated. However, her over-reliance on these heavily processed, Auto-Tune infected, washed vocals is... Getting annoying.

Damn! I really really wanted to love this. :( I don't necessarily hate it. I would have a hard time recognizing her voice initially if I didn't know this was her.

But I kinda somewhat like the title of the album. But I haven't bought the last two she made, didn't want to lower myself to that level and I even liked Glitter!

    • Agree.  But I would describe him as being disappointed not bitter.
    • >>><<< Great minds!  Kat certainly does prove that point. She's been given a lot to work with, so we shouldn't be bored of her anytime soon. I am interested in all her storylines at the moment, and curious how the show will use the affair to impact her romances and business stories. Well, what movie was it? Cause… I noticed it too. The first couple of seconds of the song were slightly different. OMG! Great call, precisely the same situation.
    • I think Kin was dissatisfied at GH in as much as Scotty had been pushed aside for Luke/Laura and the writing was doing him no favors as Scotty was now seen as an obstacle to their romance. So with his contract up he was offered big $$$ to move to Texas, which you can't blame him for. In addition to the money, I recall he was promised that Jeb would be a more dynamic character than Scotty. The money came through but not the story, so  don't blame him for being  slightly bitter.

And, Elmo pulled a fast one on Rosie, about Oscar!!!  Regis introduced from AMC John Callahan & Eva Larue who presented for the Best Writing with nominees AMC, DAYS, GH & Y&R & it happened, a tie! Y&R their 4th win with 10 writers on their team. The tie made it exciting.  Oprah Winfrey presented something I've edited out. And then she threw it to the GH show off segment.  Y&R Kristoff St. John, Victoria Rowell & Shemar Moore, presented Directing! The nominees GH, DAYS, AMC & Y&R & Y&R won it, their 6th win, Heather Hill accepting & she shouted out one of them who had passed this year. Regis introduced the star of THIS show, Aretha Franklin who talked about how much she loves Y&R & specially Victor & the way he presents himself to a woman. (If Aretha says this, it must be true.) Then she threw it to the Y&R show off segment. Regis introduced  Watros, Newman & Zimmer & they presented Best Actress with the nominees AW Jensen Buchanan, GH Genie Francis, AMC Susan Lucci & Y&R Jess Walton, who proceeded to win it. 1st time. Erica Slezak made the presentation of Best Show with nominees AMC, DAYS, GH & Y&R. And getting their 5th win GH won the day. EP Wendy Riche accepting.
    • A random thought - June is related to Hayley AND Tyrell and Samantha. Hayley and June are sisters separated when young. Years later June's children Ty and Sam end up being adopted into the Dupree family, coincidentally giving Hayley a further link to that family.
    • He spoke highly of the cast but was disappointed in his lack of story.  He was not disrespectful and he has the right to express his feelings.
    • I like Nicole the most, because she's the only normal person, even if she slides into psych-analyzing speak. I like Anita--but I suspect that's more about my attachment to Tamara Tunie. I'm on the fence about Dani--but I don't see her as the underdog vs. Nicole. Dani had her a fabulous life. Nicole might not have lived in her sister's shadow, but it seems like Dani gets the attention in the family.
    • I definitely wouldn't mind seeing him again. I understand.  BUT...a start.

I thought this was Debbi Morgan and squeeled!
    • Cody could have been Derek. He shows a lot more emotion in the scenes he gets than Gavin ever has.
