Well, its hard to predict GH is free falling

I'm hoping for good numbers for Days

I really am into that show now.

I'm so jealous! I've tried, but I just can't get into it. I think maybe my soap love is just gone. When I finally flip the switch on OLTL, I'm just done and won't replace it with another soap. There's too much good programming elsewhere and too many ways to view it to allow old habits to dictate my viewing.

I think you might be right. I didn't watch much of OLTL last week, but I think Jessica's story might have brought in some old viewers who had turned away from all the newbies.

Y&R continues to be up from last year. Most of that is "recovery" from the abysmal fall of early 2008 but still...good for them.

I'm watching B&B carefully. I think they have a significant risk of permanent damage (like Y&R 2008) if they can't get back SOME of those viewers. I'm a loyalist, but with this Taylor-Ridge stuff, I'm very close to taking it off my DVR for a while.

I gave up with OLTL over two years ago

I just lost the feeling for that one....

B&B is [!@#$%^&*], every time I turn in it is the same show as it was 3-6-10 years ago, only without my beloved Sheila to keep it interesting.

BTG: December 2025 Discussion Thread

I imagine the writers considered dramatizing the scene involving Madison, Chelsea, and Willow but decided it could easily backfire from a medical perspective. Either Willow would've had to go WAY over the top with her observations, or else her commentary would've come across to many viewers as completely reasonable, especially with Chelsea sitting there smiling & encouraging her, while Madison frowned in frustration. The end result, unless Willow was presented as TOTALLY bizarre, would've appeared that Michele Val Jean supported the position that a "smile and a crystal" are more effective than an antibiotic in clearing up an infection, and I don't believe that's the impression BTG hoped to give.
In this case, it was probably better for everyone to discuss it afterwards to highlight that Willow is down in an internet rabbit hole, and Chelsea was encouraging it.
As Anita said today, "I thought Aunt Melba was completely normal and fine in the brief amount of time I spent with her, but I realized Vernon and his mother had FAR more experience with her than I did."

Lee was such an important character to the show, but you'd never know it watching from the mid-80s on.

I totally agree! Their "relationship" is so pity based... it's almost embarrassing to watch. A guy who got rejected by the woman he reaally wants, and to soothe his bruised ego, he lets his eccentric best friend think they’re an item. She treats him like he’s some kind of deity, acting as if he’s God and everything he touches turns to gold. This is what they call "romance" . And now... after Luna lost everything because of Max's tired penis... she’s still the one going to lawyers to save his precious Serenity Springs. Everyone seems to have forgotten she lost her radio gig too. Why isn’t Max out there fighting for her show? Maybe because it’s not his problem, he is so selfish... just like Blair. And as you pointed out, he’s no prize - just a fading playboy. I actually liked the other actor better, the one I saw during the Alex Olanov hysteria - he was a darker, classier version... while THIS right now is supposed to be this "HOT", cute butt in a denim-guy that makes women lose their marbles with one wink. UGH. Luna should be dumping him and getting back to her radio show. Being the outsider looking in... the role she had in the beginning. Why do we need YET another romantic heroine is beyond me. We have ENOUGH of them.

There is something to Donna Mills in the same regard. Especially as Abby got more and more power for herself, she played her calmer and calmer as the years progressed. Abby is still calculating, but I can’t think of many times any of the three of them went full Valene or Karen. And I love those ladies, don’t get me wrong. But Joan Van Ark can be very histrionic and mannered, and Michele Lee is very soapy in the traditional sense.
The year after Sid died, before Mac arrived, Lee does a lot of quiet, beautiful acting in several episodes. But she can go balls out and did quite often. The whole Chip/Diana story is when it gets really noticeable to me. That run she does to find Diana has left at the end of season 4 is almost comical in her mannerisms and she doesn’t say a word.

The storyline with Madison feeling unsupported by Chelsea with her mom is actually interesting because it's different and topical without being overly political, but maybe it would have been nice to like, show it? They are getting to be like Y&R, too much narrating. We should be seeing the dynamics of dinner with her mom instead of being told. It could be done at a restaurant if creating a house set is an issue.

I just finished the book! overall it was a pretty good read...definitely more told of the POV and research of a fan which isn't a bad thing (going by JT Cornell is actually clever and hilarious!) and kind of more of a year by year recap of what happen on the show with little anecdotes thrown in. I definitely would love to hear more BTS stuff about certain stories and more of the actors words when it came to doing certain scenes and trying to make sense of the some of the more out there stories. It was good to learn a bit more about JER though. For as crazy as his storytelling was, it seemed everyone in the industry respected his ideas he bestowed upon daytime.

That was crazy to find out how affected Rodney Van Johnson really was at playing the "angry black man" and how he got PO'd at Chris Maleki's Spike for throwing fake punches at him ( I don't recall them fighting on the show though) That's scary he had to really wind down after filming to get all the anger out.
All the love for Ben Masters and the cast not knowing what was really going on with him before his death made me tear up a bit. I didn't realize how much he was involved in Tracy Ross's kids life too!

They even have quite a few paragraphs devoted to the the music having to be replaced on the SCI Fi and Superchannel rebroadcasts which is of course what I always complain about too! LOL That's why I always want to see the original broadcast 1999-2001 episodes pop up more where the music isn't messed with.
