Examples of SORASing messing up timelines

They are thinking of Making Spike be 8. Miranda and Little A were Born on March 24 2004. Miranda and Little A are 5. Bianca went to Paris and then came back to Erica and Jack's Wedding in May 2005. Bianca went back to Paris and I think it was the Next Time She came back to Pine Valley that Spike was Born. This was when Kendall was in the Coma. Emma is 6 and Emma was Spike's Big Sister. I don't know for sure, but I think Spike is around maybe 3 and Ian is 1. It may be Spike is 4 and Ian is 2. I'm not sure about Their Ages. Now, Kendall will go home and say Why is This 8 Year Old Boy doing in My House and Spike will say Mommy and Kendall will say I'm Not Your Mommy. Sorry about the Run On Sentence. Jody

Technically DAYS took Shawn down in age. Wasnt he born about the time Bo and Hope left the show in 1987. I remember he was just an infant then. If I recall correctly, Belle was born in 93 or 94. Technically Shawn D should be in his early 20's and Belle in early teens. But somehow they're the same age and married..........hmmmm

Very good points here. I actually wish they never aged and de-aged any characters on soaps. Not only would things be more realistic and credible, I think having the continuity of aging in real time would keep more viewers tuned in because they can see their characters literally grow before their eyes. I mean really, how stupid is it that Nick Newman was born in like 1988 and has a 16 year old son in 2009? So absurd.

Also, in regard to your age on Jill, I believe Jill was 18 in 1973, so she would have been born in 1955, making her 54 today.

Shawn D was born April 6, 1987 about 6 years before Belle was born in 1993. Brady was born in 1992, but now he is older than Shawn.

But they had done the same thing with Melissa and Hope years before. Melissa was always older than Hope and then all of a sudden Hope was 1 year older than Melissa.

What I have always found funny is that the British soap writers are talented enough to write without SORASing, but US soap writers can't.

The new Summer is definitely 5 or 6,which makes it strange that the Nick and Sharon repeatedly stated that Cassie died 4 years ago.

With all the messed up timelines,I wonder why they were so specific about that?

Usually, they say stuff like 'all those years ago' etc

I agree with those who say that SORASing is lazy storytelling.

Sometimes it is just not needed. Look at Noah on Y&R, for example. There was no need for him to be this old. Especially since they barely freakin' use him. He was just fine as a little spoiled brat.

Writers need a reality check and maybe they'll understand what the real world is about, and that they are missing some juicy years to fast-forward to their silly teen-pregnancies storylines.

Julie's not a great-grandmother yet (as far as we know - the most recent version of Scotty Banning was old enough to have a few kids by now) but she is a step-great grandmother to Claire who is also her great-niece.

But yeah if Ric Hearst had stayed on as Scotty Banning I imagine he would have had a few kids who would have been Sorased themselves and now be old enough to have their own lmao. Maybe thats why they never attempted to bring Scotty Banning back, because TPTB realised that the SORASing had gone a bit too far.

Yeah, I thought about that too... if Ric Hearst were brought back, they'd already have him have a 20-year-old son. It's bizarre how they so rapidly aged Julie's character, and thus abruptly ended storyline potential for her... the show began with her as a 16 year old in 1965 and was the grandmother to a teen by the late 80's! Meanwhile, Alice is about to celebrate her 150th birthday?

Speaking of former roles of Ric Hearst, wasn't GL's Alan-Michael Spaulding rapidly aged from being born roughly in 1981 to being a teen by 1987? But Amanda Spaulding was already an adult in the late 1970's, yet by the mid-90's, Amanda and Alan-Michael were only a few years apart? (Which reminds me... Shouldn't Alan Spaulding be in his 80's?)

    • "And OMG, watching the scenes of Roger's return in comparison...the quality in the writing really nosedived. The stupid mask." Very much agreed.  Having Roger hide behind a mask for weeks/months, with it culminating with him swinging in on a vine at Blake/Phillip's wedding....geez.  So juvenile. IMO, Guiding Light never did a good job reintroducing major characters, either from the dead or elsewhere.  Masked balls = awful.  Amish = awful. When Reva was brought back from the dead, she should've just showed up in Springfield as Reva, and informed everyone that she had been gone for years because she felt like it.  She had a four-year fling with some dude who ended up dumping her due to disloyalty. Josh would be pissed and declare that their love is not *always* but *sometimes* and he'd act accordingly.  Her kids would hate her.
    • Agreed. The Emmys next year are gonna be a pretty tough competition and I hope we get a Days sweep lol  Not only does Deidre deserve a nomination for these last few weeks, but I also think Paul Telfer, Raven Bowens, Carson Boatman, Dan Feuerriegel and Alison Sweeney have good chances as well.
    • It’s not about a lack of faith and trust in MVJ, it’s about a a lack of faith and trust in Ron Carlivati, who I think can be very sneaky and manipulative when he wants to be.  And, all that “He’s just a breakdown writer” talk never changed my mind about anything, because at Days, it was “just a breakdown writer” that gave us some of the worst episodes I’ve ever seen.

    • I think they’re desperately trying to cover his awful tattoos. But anyway them being unable to style short kings properly has been a major pet peeve of mine for a while now.  I honestly don’t understand what some people expect from actors to even begin considering them for recognition. Let’s be real—awards mostly mean that an actor is respected by their peers and has some level of cultural relevance. Actual judgment on the acting itself? That’s often secondary—highly subjective and shaped by the times. I completely agree on both points. If you’re an actor or a dancer you shouldn’t get any tattoos (sorry not sorry). Tomas’ tattoos are ugly too. And regarding the couples- you’re completely right. These writers are unable to write romance.   Further comments: - Kat cannot be this dumb to keep tampering with evidence over and over again. And I’m officially not a fan of the actress—every time she’s in a scene with Leslie, she doesn’t seem intimidated at all. She plays it like comic relief, which is just too much, especially when paired with Leslie’s histrionics and over-the-top antics. Leslie is older, dangerous, and has literally been portrayed as homicidal—Kat should be at least a little scared. • I also didn’t like Kat playing damsel in distress with the hotel manager. It gave off the same weird energy as Dani with the cop. I would’ve much preferred the version Paul Raven suggested, with her sneaking in through housekeeping. • And yes, Dani again accused Hayley of faking the pregnancy—this time even specifying she might be using a pillow under her shirt. (No fake miscarriage being mentioned) I stand by my take: this is ridiculous writing. No one in the real world—except us, the chronically online soap watchers—would even think of such a conspiracy theory. Haley is no Beyoncé. • What in the world was Chelsea wearing in her hair the other day? And this whole thing with Madison is beyond cringe. Chelsea’s coming off as needy and toxic—basically like every other Dupree. • I’m glad the casino storyline is moving forward, but it’s still boring as hell. Honestly, I’d be so here for a plot twist where Vanessa and Doug take Joey out. • The direction and editing lately have been rough. Abrupt cuts, weird pacing… something just feels off overall. There’s a strange uneasiness to how it’s all coming together. • And finally: Tomas is too much of a saint. Where are the messy sluts when you need them? (Vanessa doesn’t count.)
