The early 20 to mid-late 20's set on this show sucks. They needs a nasty psychotic bitch with vulnerability to shake things up, and no, Chole does not cut it. They're all too nice and passive, and yes, bland.

When Phillip IV comes back, Y&R needs it's own Clare Devine.

Hire Gemma Bissix and let her do the rest. They can totally rip-off the Clare and Max storyline Hollyoaks did, and the character can end up penetrating and reeking havoc and a number of characters lives, in multiple age groups.

Good one. I feel so stupid for going into this discussion. I was merely commenting on Vail and somehow I "turned into someone totally else." Amazing.

Sadly, we all know where

Nothing like a little hatred for the character in the very beginning.

Are we now not putting the spoilers up anymore?

But why say it at all (and that goes for all of us)? When we start getting into how other people post, that always leads this thread astray and people end up in fights. If we just stay focused on Y&R and not worry about who is positive and who is negative we can avoid the drama (maybe).

Why not? Summer isn't the driving force that keeps the characters together. I don't know what the driving force is it was/is not Summer. Summer is what drives Sharon away from Nick "she" doesn't drive Nick away from Sharon. I personally don't mind them beating the life out of Phick just because of what the union did to each character, but from where I stand Summer was never the TRUE obstacle from Nick's POV in leaving Phyllis and being with Sharon. I have no idea what the big obstacle is or was for Nick though, it seems like Sharon herself is an obstacle.

The thread about GH's opening made me wonder if Y&R will be getting their new opening as MAB once said, now that the franchise fee was cut. Do you all think it's good, bad, old, or just fine?

IMO, hte graphics are outdated and the theme is fine - it just needs to be freshened with some deeper orchestrations.

Absolutely!

Well, I can't say I wouldn't enjoy it... But I don't want another cheater. So kill Jana first, please. That tumor. It can progress rapidly. Then bring EO'B to B&B as some saucy british designer.

Yes! I guess the idea is that Tammin has some "in" at Sony...but d*mn, this is another squandered core family member in that critical 20s age group.

Jamia needs to go to N.H. art school again, and Patty needs to sing again!

If

ends up with Lily, I will spit. SPIT.

We need to do like Cashton. Post buzzed, and get new jobs/boys/jeans!

Why do you say that?

I don't think it Summer. I think Nick and Phyllis got-and-stayed together because of the most incredible and ongoing chemistry any two humans can experience. They will feel the lack of it all the rest of their days.

I am sick, sick, sick of Nadia's Theme. I was when they did that delicious red porn opening. I want them to save Nadia's Theme for special occasions, but give me a fresh new theme. Like red-porn, it can be a reorchestration/new arrangement/sampling of Nadia...but I really need some sumptuous color and new music in that opening.

Like--could they at least arrange the theme in some more exciting way? I know nothing about music... How about let Adam Lambert sing the lyrics in some funky cool new arrangement?

    • I don’t even know why you responded to the bait.
    • I only watch for Sharon and she’s barely on. The only good thing going at the moment is Jack and Diane scenes and they’ve made Diane such a wuss lately which is making that unbearable to watch too
    • I feel like Earl Hamner and his crew brought in Richard* BECAUSE they knew almost right away that Robert Foxworth was so dull as Chase.  At any event, Richard, IMO, proved to be much more interesting as Angela's chief adversary. (*Or brought him back, depending on whether we're including the original "Vintage Years" pilot).
    • And it will also eventually air S2, which will air its finale in Canada this Thursday, May 15th! https://tvline.com/news/law-and-order-toronto-criminal-intent-season-1-2-the-cw-1235449356/ As an American that has managed to watch it in real time, it's very good. Frankly, I think it's the best of the L&O franchise as of now.
    • You are getting like me. It's getting to the point that without any Damian sightings...it's been the fashion that is holding my interest. And it should not be that way at all.
    • I don't mind Jan either. If anything, they could be using her more to get her daughter's POV. Not to mention her role as one of the Have-Nots.    I also don't mind the local talent. Just look at soaps that were in NY or the shows that film there, they always go for the local talent and we get to find new faves.
    • I'm not going to watch (because...well...that M-dude...lol) but knowing the history between Henry and Roger, I could see Henry wanting to enable Hart to stay independent of Roger. I could even see it as Henry having the last laugh at Roger. Roger hated "the Henry's" of the world, which basically meant anyone who had money and social prominence. Twice Roger swindled Henry out of a chunk of his fortune, so giving some to Hart, who hates his father, is a form of karma.
    • Ashley and Derek have to go- they really throw off the pace of the show.  Today was the first time I fast-forwarded through their scenes. The writing and acting is just bad for both characters.
    • Jon is stuck in a story that isn't popular but with Cady I feel like the issue is that she was clearly thrown in with no real purpose. I still don't understand why she pops up. I recall early on it being said she owned a spa but we've never seen it. That could've been an interesting location for people to meet. She also could've worked better as Smitty's mom, but instead we get this random agent of Dani's who pops up twice a month? A total waste. I mostly agree. I do feel like Jan could be elevated with a name soap actress, someone like Judi Evans or Kassie DePaiva comes to mind, but they're limited to who is in Atlanta. Keeping that in mind I think the current actress is fine.
    • It's great to see. My thoughts might be a little different, but for the most part, I am excited and interested in most of the storylines. Yeah, you're right. This is probably how she (Dani) normally acts. And, I do not like it!  I agree; this is another distraction while she heals her wounds. If I weren't an Eva fan, she helped me root for her even more. As I said a month ago, I hope they take their time with her modeling agency. I would love to see her face a few obstacles before becoming a huge success.
