Just watched the reunion. It was good.

They all knew the show was trash but they enjoyed making it. Some jokes about repeating the same dialogue every day for months on end, with Galen mimicking wanting to shoot himself in the head.

The same night where Antonio died, Kay found out she couldn’t have anymore children, Miguel and Charity left town and Sheridan and Luis went to Mexico to get Paloma and ended up running into Martin and Katherine.

I’ll never understand the whole 2+ month days

Yeah. The writing did start to get really sloppy around that time. They spent years building up Martin as this great guy who loved his family, but with the awful rewrite with Katherine coupled with the writing that came after, it told me that Martin really was just a coward

Yes that was the first year in 1999, leading up to New Year's Eve.

I must say, Passions was the first soap I got hooked on as a teen in the summer of 2000 when the prom boat sank. I remember being a kid bored and I come from a family of CBS soap watchers, so while they watched (in my mind at the time- boring Y&R and B&B) my grandmother told me to turn to NBC where all of a sudden I'm introduced to Evil Charity in her prom dress shooting lightening out of her finger tips and the high school students on a prom boat are in chaos as they struggle to stay afloat, and I thought to myself, this is cool haha. Throw in Timmy in his tux running on the pier and Tabitha with her tiara and I was hooked right away.

Now that I'm older and rewatched the series in its entirety I appreciate what it tried to do and was. 1999 in my opinion was a slow start to introduce everyone but by 2000-2003 it was on fire. The double wedding with Ivy crashing through the church and faceless Alistair getting spineless Julian to poison Sheridan's wedding ring so she'd die at the altar once slipped on her finger (haha!), Bermuda, Warlock Island, Julian caught between Ivy, Rebecca and Theresa fighting to be the real Mrs. Julian Crane, Zombie Charity, the mysterious shed and are Whitney and Chad brother and sister? I mean Reilly literally had me hooked as a kid and the show knew who there audience was- silly and over the top unrealistic stories, sure, but highly entertaining. I think it lost its magic so to speak with Josh Ryan Evans passing away as Timmy and the departure of Jesse Metcalfe and Molly Stanton as Miguel and Charity kind of put an end to a lot of the things that made Passions work so well.

Sure after that we got nutty Beth, Charlie and the whole Sheridan in the pit story and other good moments peppered in over the years that followed, but over time the tone switched somehow and was never the same. They tried to recover the magic with Endora being born but it couldn't save it. And don't get me started on DirecTV, I was soooo disappointed with those episodes to the point where my Passions loving heart was ok with it being cancelled the second time if it meant it didn't get any worse.

No matter how bad it got Passions is still what got me into soaps and it wasn't all bad, especially 2000-2003ish they were on a roll and I still watch the episodes on YouTube, I'm happy that the loyal fans keep it alive after all these years and that its longevity continues and reunions because that doesn't always happen with cancelled soaps.

    • Where do you discover this crazy rumor??
    • Jill Farren Phelps was always very skilled at saying what she meant onscreen in the bluntest way possible, like whenever she wanted fans to support one character vs. the other (hence Megan McTavish groaning about having to write Kale Browne's Sam Rappaport into three days a week at OLTL). Perhaps you should consider doing the same. Historically your intent is always far more obvious than your efforts at coy embroidery anyway. You believe people are dismissing Phelps' accomplishments, and suggest misogyny and fan blinders allow people to too easily pigeonhole and dismiss her skill set. I think we all understand her varied skill set. We're saying it's not enough to make up for her deficiencies as a storyteller and creative. JFP was undoubtedly a skilled technical producer. As a solo storyteller, and de facto HW, she was a repeat and predictable failure. She was not the first or last EP (male or female) to think she was a writer. If you want us to stop taking your behavior personally when you suggest misogyny is at play in board opinions of JFP, perhaps you should consider spending the next 10+ years here not acting like you're the only one who gets it.

Melissa was here today & we went to Michael's Crafts & Ofc Depot. In Michael's there were two beautiful LITTLE girls who kept staring at me, so I gave them a littel wave & very quietly said HI & then did back. I told Melissa they were staring at me. She smiled & said "Purple. A lot of little girls love purple & you forget but you have purple hair. Seeing you their whole imaginations are transformed! Thinking "That lady has purple hair. That means I can have purple hair! They had no clue before seeing you that it was possible." I just laughed & laughed.
    • This opening scene is hilarious...it's like someone wrote out the script for Philip with one hand. And Rick...sniffing a scarf over and over. And in their next scene they are still sniffing the [!@#$%^&*] scarf as the camera stays all over Philip's bare chest and armpits as he keeps working out. Insane stuff.

Bay City better be ready, because I'm back!   At Vicky's apartment she is once again drowning in doubts and jealousy. Deep down she realizes that her dream wedding will be a farce and nothing can change that. Bridget tries to calm her down, but the heroine is determined to suffer. She is not hearing any positive thoughts. She doesn't believe Jamie will marry her. At the Cory Publishing building another farce is in process. Iris, once again pretending to be the angel of love and sisterhood... is telling Mac and Rachel some wonderful news. When Iris has good news, you really need to look out for yourself. That's when things are bad. So what are the news? Miss Devil has put Amanda up for an award! Mac is smiling from ear to ear, and Rachel is suspicious. Maybe that's the effect Iris is looking for. To once again accent on the fact that Rachel doubts and criticizes her daughter. Iris will do anything to destabilize their relationship. She is like a cancer. Back to Vicky! Jamie is at the door. Looking like a sad puppy, he has come with a surprise. No, he is not gonna leave her and her unborn... Not yet. He has bought her earrings. Sad face. How nice. NOT. Victoria, of course... manages to break one of them the moment she touches it. Bad premonition maybe? She was back in hysterics. It's not easy to trap a man into marriage. Then you have to live with someone that didn't want you in the first place.  We were introduced to a new character (to me at least she is new) - Cass's sister - Stacey. She is giving me "hidden skeletons in the closet"-vibes. Love a girl like that. Stunning actress. I like her. The highlight of the episode was the strange and creepy reveal of Evan the escort... hugging someone named Janice's grave. I remember she had an issue with Rachel... and Rachel killed her in self defense I think... It was hinted in prior episodes, but I lack the context and story. I just know that everyone at the Frame house was mad that Rachel killed the bish. But I also got the impression that this Janice was sick in the head. So Evan is now talking to her grave and telling her he is going to ruin Rachel's life basically. Oh, Evan... I liked you better as a sexy gigolo.  Overall - 10/10 - how can I rate it lower when I haven't watched in months!!!

    • Once again, Marlena and Kayla were used very effectively and I couldn’t be happier.  Marlena counseling Johnny and then Chanel was the best part of today. They’re really delving into the human emotion of this storyline and I think that’s a good thing. It feels so much mature than it was before. EJ’s fear about what could happen to Johnny if he doesn’t let go of his anger could lead to some really good storylines in the future.  I also really appreciate the way that Paula/Jeanne are mixing it up and having different characters interact with each other. It was nice to see Shawn and Johnny remember that they’re cousins and share a scene together. I liked the parallel that was drawn between the two of them, and what’s going on with their fathers. I did have mixed feelings about everything with Cat though. I enjoyed Chanel warning her about EJ, mostly because it played into the way that she was written today. But I wasn’t the biggest fan of the Chad/EJ scenes. The two of them discussing Chad’s potential feelings for Cat didn’t really keep my interest.  But above all, I feel that everyone is being used more effectively and that we’re getting a better understanding of everyone as well. And that was exactly what Days needed.
    • It's a wild story for sure, especially the final conclusion (and fireworks offcamera, like Victoria Wyndham tearing into Michael Logan).
