When did the Sin Stalker Storyline end? David O'Brien is still listed in the credits in September, but there's been no mention of that storyline for a while. I wondered if the producers kept him on contract because of his condition or maybe I'm just reading too much into it.

🙏🏼RIP Chris Robinson- his Jason Frame was one of AW’s better villains.  Jason’s murder mystery was one of AW’s best- practically the entire cast was a suspect!

Agreed.  Jason was a very good bad-guy for AW because he had roots in the show's history, and he was believable and threatening, but never did anything over-the-top.  I remember his murder-mystery was compelling, but I would have preferred Jason continue on the show as a long-term believable villain, similar to John Dixon on ATWT or Roger Thorpe on GL.   Jason Frame was a much better fit for AW than either Reggie-boy Love or Carl Hutchins.    Rest in Peace -- Chris Robinson.

A shame about Chris Robinson. Wonderful actor and he should have been used on AW and GH.

I also wish Jason Frame hadn't been killed off. It was an interesting story, but it killed off a good actor AND it ruined another a character (Nicole).

Margaret DePriest and John Whitesell created Jason (this Frame was never mentioned by Harding Lemay). He was introduced to pair him with Denise Alexander. Depriest was out four weeks after Jason debuted and Whitesell was out a few weeks later. Sheri Anderson wrote the show for 8 weeks (Feb 1 to March 31) then the writers' strike episodes started. Chris may have only had a one year contract and I'm sure he was expensive. Swajeski/Laibson went in a different direction. Denise Alexander started as Mary in August 86 (created by Depriest) and left around the time Jason was murdered (Feb 89). Perhaps, Denise quit and they decided to get rid of Jason at the same time. Both actors must have commanded a huge salary and with dwindling ratings, the show probably was already in budget cut mode and used the funds for other actors/sets etc. I never thought Jason or Mary fit in. Totally unnecessary characters, especially Jason but I liked Chris in the role. Never got into Mary.

No idea if you're onto something, but I am sure that they could have done something like that. Not having insurance was a death sentence. I am sure that at the level of the show itself, they were more than willing to show that kind of compassion. Good catch!

Denise Alexander was very clear that she quit Another World because she was tired of the commute from LA her home and NYC.  She also praised Victoria Wyndham and Linda Dano as the lead actresses of the show in her exit interview.

There has been long standing discussion that Jason Frame was originally slated to be the return of Willis Frame, but Chris Robinson refused to play a recast character, so TPTB created Jason Frame out of thin air.    By the way, is this documented any where??

I would have enjoyed seeing Willis return, and played by Chris Robinson would have been successful.  But Jason quickly became a far darker and more menacing character than Willis had ever been.   So I guess there was some wisdom in creating an additional Frame brother.

I am not sure if Chris refused to play a recast Willis which was the original plan but he did say he preferred to play a new character so they created Jason for him.

GH also did Chris Robinson dirty so the poor man never got a break. The more I watch 1987 the more I miss Denise Alexander. I just adore her Mary. Perhaps, I'm just being sentimental. They say that you always romanticise the era of a soap you first start watching. Alexander has been Emmy nomination worthy (as has Spencer) in the 1987 stuff I've watched and it's maddening that it'll all be over soon.

I hope the producers did keep O'Brien on contract to be humane. It would be one of the few kind things I've seen from the soap world. P&G just didn't seem the type to allow that sort of thing. They've always struck me as being very regressive but maybe I'm wrong.

Exactly why I stated in these terms: At the level of the show, blah blah blah, because I do not think that P&G would have gone in for that kind of thing. Neither when I think about it, at that time anyway, would NBC have likely done so. But, at the show level, people just being people, I think yes they would have for a beloved colleague.

In 1996, AW had ex-Doctors alum Bethel Leslie on, as a hysterical mother of a criminal. She's on the November 29, 1996 episode. She's a little unrecognizable. Another example of the show doing a solid for an aging vet?

I went back and checked. According to the AW hompage, O'Brien was last seen on June 29, 1987. As of the September 2, 1987 episode O'Brien is still listed as a contract player. By the Sept. 14, 1987 episode, he's no longer listed.

As one that watched the Law & Order franchise, including Criminal Intent, I never knew that Kathryn Erbe, who played Det. Alexandra Eames, made an appearance on Another World, but this clip from 1988 shows she did, along with pre-fame Luke Perry:

Gabrielle Carteris was also a part of that story set.

Whenever I see Kathryn I think of her role on Oz.
