I dont know why SH is a beautiful women. Maybe not a classic image of what one might think of, but shes from Chyna Doll looking like a dude.

Yes, but I choose to go through the thread in order to read people's opinions about what is actually happening on Y&R. All of these fantasy and off topic posts make that a lot harder and a hell of a lot more annoying to try to do. I'd love it if there were 19 pages about what is happening on Y&R (or even realistic hopes people have), but when 10 of those pages are silly fanfic, I think I have the right to bitch about that. Just as people have the right to continue on with it, since Toups has not stepped in to stop it.

Please,please do not marry Nikki and Paul.The last thing either of them need is another marriage under their belt.

As I have said before,Nikki/Paul has been a complete letdown.There has been no fallout-her children,Katherine,Heather haven't said a word.Victor has had no reaction-in fact he was never told they were an item.Despite his coldness towards Nikki these days.I'm sure he would have had something to say.

What could have been an interesting story has amounted to nothing.Why bother with it in the first place?

I have noticed a lack of story crossover.Neil had no involvement with Cane/Lily.Nikki seems pretty much in the dark re Nick/Sharon/Phyllis.Lily is untouched by her father's marriage breakdown etc

Some major story beats and angles are being missed.

Though she is self-involved, when Gloria expresses her pain...she really does so authentically. I remember a scene where Jeff was just NASTY...nasty...divorcing her, taking her money (I think this was last Fall/Dec). And Gloria just broke down in wracking sobs.

And even though she reaps what she sows...I just felt for her so much. Chapman lets the inner damage and pain shine through.

For Chloe, it has all been flip. So far, she's TALKED about hurt and resentment...but she's never shown it. Moreover, with a cutie pie like Esther as her mom, it's hard to buy. Don't get me wrong, I like Hendrickson and she's funny...but I FEEL nothing for her. Except, briefly, during that act of tenderness toward Billy, when she picked him up after Mac's slap and took him home. And even there, of course, there was a self-serving element of claiming her man.

I'm also disappointed. I'm assuming they're working both of them to their guarantees, to save money? Clearly, the canvas has been full. I guess they can "catch" up in the space before the wedding and after? Build some depth to that relationship?

If they marry, let's face it, it is doomed. We're supposed to believe that Christine is Paul's soul mate (wrong, wrong wrong--Christine is Danny's soul mate...but that's for another day), and that Victor is Nikki's soul mate. But they still need to make these mistakes (marry the wrong person)...as obstacles to the eventual reunion.

That said, I think for Nikki and Paul it can still be sparkling. They just have to invest. If it were me, I'd throw in some stories of youthful exploits they did together...maybe even with flashbacks. Like when they went skinny dipping at a closed public pool and got "caught" by the men's polo team. (That was a rare location shoot for the show). Or when Paul was there for her, after Nikki killed her father. Or when they joined the cult together. If they'd show some of this...build up the history...we could understand the present more. Also, Doug Davidson is a funny, quippy, silly guy. Paul is not. But what if they let Paul be funny and quippy when he alone with Nikki. So we can understand that they bring out the laughter and "young-at-heart" in each other.

It would not take hours of screen time. A few throwaway scenes here and there, so we can better understand the attraction.

Very, very good point. I'll bet they "modularized" the shooting, so that everyone didn't have to stay all day. But, as you note, that impoverished this episode. Several people said it felt "flat", and I agree. This was a SEMINAL event...and it should have had the resonance of Kay's funeral.

Little face shots...for example, when Lily wondered what Jill would do at HER wedding, Neil should have had a reaction shot and Cane should too. So, too, a momentary wistful glance between Daniel and Lily (who were once married) would have been nice. Or Neil...didn't he once marry in the Chancellor house? (I know his last marriage was in Japan, but wasn't the first one to Dru in Kay's house? Am I confabulating?). All these little bits might have stretched the episode (i.e., maybe the wedding and aftermath would have run into Tuesday), but it would have been so worth it.

Wow! I don't know which actress could ever get me to feel for Gloria! The character is a despicable excuse for any human. I just know she'll be hinting at her tricks again in the next week after any remorseful 'act'. The thing is most of the characters have the same drives. They do the same things and expect different results (even some of my faves), but yet and still with the character of Gloria she is just that bad I never feel her pain and I think JC does as good a job as any good actress could in this role, even with her over the top performances I get why alot of those acting choices are made for the character; the character would probably be worse if she was potrayed more subtle with the same writing.

Chloe is guarded, her defense mechanisms are her sarcasm and her wit. I agree that the character has not shown full vulnerability but I buy that that the background of the character can be that over time she had the desire to change who she was or how she thought herself to be perceived. She has a vision of who she wants to be and it's a way to change her own identity. The show still has to characterize Chloe some more to me though she's been on quite alot the character is still not fleshed out, there are so many beats to play with her story. I see a cross between Phyllis and Jill in her thus far, her relationship dynamics with long term character is something the writers should not take for granted

I agree with everyone, the Katherine wedding was o.k. But maybe they meant to play the event relatively simplistic.

I had new insight into Gloria this weekend. I saw that movie with Judy Davis and Jonathan Jackson, A Little Thing Called Murder. It is a dramatization of the Sante and Kenny Kimes story. To make a long story short, Sante totally "owned" her son Kenny's psyche, and used him as her henchman in a string of con jobs and murders.

Kenny was attractive and smart...but he was totally enraptured by his mama. Even as he was doing evil, he believed his mother loved him and that she was the most wonderful woman in the world. So, too, Sante -- wholly opportunistic and vicious -- one never knew if she really loved her son...but she just seduced him with her personality.

Not only do I believe the tale has direct resonance for the Fisher-Baldwins. (Indeed, Kenny has older sibs who escaped Sante's clutches). But there was a line about Sante at the end, something to the effect of "When my mother was in the room, you forgot all the other people who were there".

That is Gloria. She's evil and twisted. I'm with you. I get it. I'm deluded. But what I love about Chapman's portrayal is that she embraces that. And, like Sante, she works her wiles on ANYONE to get her way. And because she is so dramatic and compelling and beautiful and she shows real emotion (even if it is a self-serving act), you cannot help but fall into her web.

I also liked Silence of the Lambs. I didn't like Hannibal Lecter, but I couldn't take my eyes off him--or Anthony Hopkins' portrayal of him. That's the kind of love and admiration I have for Gloria. A fearless portrayal of the worst kind of evil. Like the "Great Tempter" himself, the evil is so compelling because it is so wrapped up in such a pretty package.

Not everyone on soaps has to be moral, good, right. And not everyone on soaps has to get their "just rewards" in a trash compactor. This really quite brave portrayal (by the show and the actress) of mundane evil is really quite spectacular.

What makes it even better is that, if you were to ask Gloria, she'd tell you she loves her sons. And she BELIEVES it too. She doesn't realize that what she does to them, day after day, is the opposite of love. So, that incredible capacity for self-delusion is also compelling to me.

Catching the wedding episode now. Katherine and Murphy are a perfect match - I love them together! They feel so natural together on-screen. That being said, how could Murphy be cast so perfect and Mac not????? I really ain't feelin her AT ALL. I want to, but she brings absolutely nothing to the role IMO. Dull as dishwater.

And I really can't blame Jill for hookin up with the hot bartender dude. OMG how smokin was he? And JW played the seductress very well.

Other than that, I thought it was OK. Not the worst, not the best but somewhere in the middle.

I guess that's another perspective of Gloria's character. I certainly agree about JuChap's potrayal of her I think she does a great job. She totally embraces Gloria's evil, what she does is she makes the character fun in a dramatic way with her campiness. I totally see why she does it but I loaaaaathe loaathe Gloria lol.
