Members CassieFan
Please tell me this is April 1'st joke. Whatever you do, don't discuss pancakes around an All My Children fan. The killing of Dixie Martin still doesn't sit well with AMC fans and it's been two years since the character was killed off. Now, a new storyline twist is bringing Dixie's death back to the foreground. The question is simple: Why? It's been two years since that fateful day when a stack of pancakes felled one of All My Children's best loved heroines. Though most fans really don't want to dwell on the day that Dixie died, some may have to brace themselves. All My Children is poised to have fans revisit that infamous day. For reasons that remain unknown, All My Children's head writer, Charles Pratt, Jr., is bringing Alexander Cambias, Sr. back into the fold. The former Satin Slayer will reappear in the weeks ahead to promote a book he's written about the murders of several Pine Valley residents. In an odd twist, though, Daddy Cambias will deny having any part in the death of Dixie Martin. According to the elder Alex, Dixie was killed by a copycat killer. Astute viewers will remember that Dixie was killed by accident. The poisoned pancakes that killed her were actually intended for Babe Carey. For several months now, fans on soapcentral.com's message boards have been wondering if David is hiding Dixie somewhere. Certainly there is a connection. David was infatuated with Dixie and he was Babe's father. So what does this all mean? Why dredge up such an extremely unhappy moment in recent AMC history? Word of a major casting announcement prompted many AMC fans to think that Cady McClain was returning to reprise her role as Dixie. Those hopes were dashed when McClain inked a deal to return to CBS's As the World Turns. The casting announcement, as it turned out, referred to the recasting of Liza Colby. It seems unlikely that ABC would greenlight a Dixie recast, but nothing is ever really out of the realm of possibility any more. Perhaps the groundwork is being laid for an eventual return of Dixie. Is All My Children getting ready to launch another serial killer storyline? Why mention that there was a copycat killer out there if there's no plan of ever trying to find that killer? All of the new twists lend themselves to the big question: Is Dixie Martin really dead? Viewers saw a ghostly Dixie on more than one occasion since Dixie was killed off. SO she has to be dead, right? It's still way too soon to tell, but as soap fans know… anything is possible. Members brimike
There was something yesterday about Tad seeing a past crime from a whole new perspective, reigniting his feud with Adam. This sounds like it could be it...
Members MarkH
Carolyn Hinsey thinks Zach has her squirrelled away somewhere, "recovering". Couldn't that fit in too? Oh, somehow in all this nonsense I've feeling a very sick genre. We just can't keep doing these fanciful things...every one brings more eyerolls, and more self-respecting people who can't keep watching sh*t like this. Even if Cady's dismissal was a terrible and vindictive mistake, it still needs to be left alone, IMO. How about a 12-month, genre-wide moratorium on ghosts, doppelgangers, switched DNA/stolen babies, and amnesia? Let's see what is creatively left after that? Members CassieFan
But what is the whole point? Cady signed for ATWT (although I heard it was only for a small time, 4 months)...I don't want recast Dixie.
Members brimike
I don't think Dixie is alive. I just think they'll find out someone else killed her, and Tad will believe it was Adam. Or something equally as lame. Pratt is totally Melrosing AMC, and not the good Melrose years either.
Members CassieFan
That would be so dumb.
Members Sylph
That's 'cause you totally jinxed his tenure! Ever since he came on, you said he was gonna Melrose it, and here we are!
Members alwaysAMC
This is totally an April Fools joke --- that site does this every year. I remember one year they said Susan Lucci was departing AMC...
Members CassieFan
I hope so... although it was posted March 31'st
Members Actor87
I don't think so. I heard a few days ago that CM is returning to AMC full time once her ATWT stint is over. HOWEVER, CM plays the merry go round with soaps too much, it's hard for me to tell truth from fiction.
Members Kubla Khan
I do think the stuff about Alex Sr. is true. I know the actor (Ronald Guttman) has been taping recently.
Members Adam
Unless Cady is going to come back (which looks very unlikely now).... why bother? I will not accept a recast.... and why dredge up these painful memories.....
Members Y&RWorldTurner
Cady is tied to ATWT, so this can't be true A recast Dixie, at this point, is unacceptable, especially after the way Cady was fired.
Members jjjg
A recast Dixie is ridiculous it would just be the Di story all over again. If they want to undead her they need Cady.
Members tina m
This rings as April Fools, but I have no idea. They never should've killed off Dixie in the first place
