Daytime's Oldest Sets

I'm not sure if this has been done before. It probably has, but if so, just disregard.

What are some of the oldest sets in daytime. I know with a lot of budget cuts we don't see many anymore on some shows. So this list might be pretty short.

Llanfair on One Life to Live has been the Lord family home since the show premiered.

The Chancellor Estate has been unchanged since Katherine and Phillip were introduced on Y&R in 1973.

I would assume GH's General Hospital was also one of the oldest sets but since they burned it down it doesn't count anymore.

I can't remember the last time they showed the Stewart House on As the World Turns. That was definitely one of the oldest.

GH shows the Scorpio house sometimes, (not many) and that was the old Webber house I believe.

The Martin House on AMC I believe was completely destroyed with the first tornado in 1994. The house was redone after that and isn't seen today.

So what are some of the oldest sets still seen today or some of the oldest one's that you miss seeing.

Llanfair was burnt down in 1995. They may have just redone the set for the new version, I don't know.

My favorite old set was the carriage house Ross Marler lived in on GL from the early 80s up to the time the set was removed (somewhere around 2003). I still miss that place.

The Horton Living Room is probably the oldest set in daytime. It is the same from 1965 with a few minor revisions and updatings.

I am not sure about the GH hospital set. For years the majority of the hospital scenes were all done on the 13th floor and the nurses station.

GH

GH's Kelly's is one of the oldest sets. They freshened it up over the years, but it's still the same. When were the docks introduced? I would also say the docks. They condensed it in 2002, I believe, but didn't do an overhaul. The Nurses'

Station set was remodeled in the mid 1990's, so I doubt that would qualify.

AMC

AMC has nothing that spans beyond the last 10 years, or so.... except the boathouse and Wildwind. Chandler Mansion went from that gorgeous and grand double staircased parlor with pillars and that golden foyer... to the current dark, tight box.

The Martin house has been repurposed as other sets a couple of times.

Erica's gone from Linden House which was burned down to Montgomery House to living in that ugly ass casino.

The hospital's been redone several times over the last 20 years I've been watching.

I think Myrtle's boarding house is gone considering all the scenes for the memorial episode took place on the damn porch.

Cortlandt Manor is gone... the original and now even the remake which was burned down.

No more McKay's ever since Holidays. Then Holidays was destroyed in that 1998 Lee Hawkins explosion and we got Blow Jobs BJ's which was also remodeled about a year after introducing it.

The Valley Inn's apparently gone since everybody stays at the ugly ass Casino... or goes to the ugly ass Casino bar or ConFusion when they want to drink. Nobody's been living at the Pine Cone, either.

The Cumstain Comeback, which used to be the Pit, has been destroyed.

No more WRCW.

Adam had Tad's old house burned down... damn, AMC is no joke with burning people's homes down, huh?

Those are the only sets with history I can think of that would have any importance on this show. Everything else is relatively new over the last five to ten years. Fusion, ConFusion, the ugly ass Seasons East Casino, Cambias, Ryan Penthouse, Slater House, Greenlee/Bianca/Greenlee Penthouse, Hubbard Loft, Yacht Club, Condos, Frankie/Randi Apartment which used to be Jamie/Maggie's...

The Valley Inn Bar set was used up until a year or so ago I believe? Fairly recent.... I believe they used it a bit when Angie and Jesse first came back. Its a shame the Valley Inn isn't used anymore. Its iconic, same with the Pinecone for that matter. Whenever someone was ostracized by the town, you could always count on the Pine Cone making an appearance..... now it seems you go to Casa Martin.......

I'm thinking the Horton living room on DAYS and the Chancellor mansion on Y&R is the two oldest sets in Daytime.

Really? I know that both the Bauer living room and carriage house were the oldest for GL. The carriage house set existing back when the Dobsomes wrote Roger raping Holly. The Bauer living room having been made after Ed brought the house for Rita after they married. (It was supposedly next door to the Spauldings wasn't it?)

1. I always thought Adam's set was too feminine, but that was Erica's doing. She redecorated when they were remarried/never unmarried.

2. Slight correction, Linden didn't burn down. She moved out of Linden into Wildwind with Dimitri. Then when she and Hayward got together, she bought her dream house she used to walk by coming home from school every day as a kid. That's the house that burned down, it had the big portrait of Erica over the mantle... people used to say it was decorated like a bordello. :P

3. What an emotional F that was... it was so sweet to see it back (if in lesser form), and then they went and burned it down SO sad, what a huge part of '80s AMC history. And how the hell does huge ass Cortlandt Manor completely burn to smithereens, what kind of fire was this?

4.

Yeah that makes no kinda sense. Like was the house made of sticks for crying out loud?

Yeah, but I think only like "refreshing" the rooms. Nothing drastic was ever done. There is a clip on YouTube of when Katherine signs the divorce papers in 1975. It looks practically the same.
