OK folks, AGAIN, if you see a post by a user who constantly irritates you, you click onto their profile, then under Options click Ignore User, once you've done that click Update Ignore User List.

VOILA. You won't EVER have to read another post by a poster who irritates you.

It's MAGIC.

The problem with that is that I feel like 99% of the people who post here (including Turner and dmarex) make great posts regarding Y&R and have interesting insights as well as information regarding the show, cast, storylines, etc. And if someone were to take your advice well pretty soon you'd be seeing only 2 or 3 people's post within a month or so I'm betting.

Especially if you nitpick about every little thing that "irritates" you.

So for my part I'm not going to ignore anyone cuz I'd be depriving myself of a variety of viewpoints that I think should be discussed and deserve to be heard/seen.

@ Cheap21

Maybe it's a spoiler? I have no idea though since I'm catching up on Y&R on CBS's website...

@ y&R fan

Thanks. I'm not taking sides here but it seems strange to point out someone's posting habits and try to say that they always post about a certain character/actress when it's 100% obvious/clear that you do the exact same thing....just with a different actor. It's like the pot calling the kettle black if you want to use a cliche...lol.

Y&R has some real potential gold in this show now with Cane and Billy, that some on here don't even realize it. I don't want Cane and Lily to be backburner'd, because they have this quality that makes many want to hate them. They're obnoxious, overbearing and self-righteous.

Cane is very easy to hate and he makes it even easier when he gets self-righteous and indignant. Billy's flawed, but still sympathetic in ways and you could even develop Chloe further along this way. They need to turn Cane and Lily into the antagonists on this show. They can keep the gray area, but still. For some reason, I keep finding myself wanting to see Billy and Cane go at it. Whether verbally or physically. And if they could just keep on building tension between them, releasing a little and then constantly adding it. They could start it by having Cane get custody of Cordy, divorcing Chloe and marrying Lily. And they both raise him, whilst Billy and Chloe have limited visitation or whatever. Keep Cane/Lily on the winning side of this, while giving Chloe/Billy little victories here and there. They can have Cane be overcome by jealousy and anger at his brother, so much so that he, every now and then, actually starts doing bad things to sabotage and hurt his brother and ex-wife. Then you have Lily find out about it, which causes tension between the two and leaves something open for Billy and Chloe to eventually regain custody of their daughter. All the while, having Billy and Chloe grow closer through the ordeal. Then, after the whole "jill and kat aren't really related" thing comes out and allows it, you can throw Mac back into the mix. Billy and Chloe could be together or close to it, Mac could be back and available, and Cane (who I'd probably break with Lily by now) could go after Mac just like Billy went after Lily. You could then forge the triangle out of that.

Blah blah.

Armchair writing. But I still think there's much $$$ in them pitting the Self Righteous Duo of Cane and Lily against the Sinful, Yet Sympathetic duo of Billy and Chloe. They just need to put the former in the role of villains. Not so much Lily as I would Cane though. This Brother versus Brother thing could work, but only if they can turn up the volume on Cane as he is right now. The best villains are the ones who believe they're in the right, even if they really aren't. Just have him become obsessed with showing how much better he is than his brother. Maybe you could add to it that it's fueled by some sort of inadequacy complex and build on it and add to it. He's gone from bartender to businessman, finds his mother. Only to have his job taken by his brother, the love of his life as well, he learns the baby is really his brother's. Currently he'd take the baby away from them. Then you start the out and out feuding, up until he does something to Billy/Chloe that sabotages their chances at getting their kid back that gets discovered and backfires on him. He'd lose the kid, Lily as well (I wouldn't have her go along with it and it'd break them up), etc. Then you have him go after Mac to try and get one over on Billy, and he fails because he can't get it up and finds out he actually has ED. So he'd go more and more into a downward spiral laden with him taking actions that compensate for what he doesn't have. Either as a person, romantically or just as a man. It'd be great.

"Don't ever talk to me like that again...." - Victor Newman

:o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o

I got chills when he said that. It came out of NOWHERE. I swear I thought he was gonna say something funny or heartwarming but oh no...not TGVN. Just cold as ice he tells his delivers a warning that would scare the crap out of me any day of the week if I were in his shoes.

Whoever is writing the dialogue for Y&R should get a raise cuz there's nothing that beats this.

And does Jack have kids? He mentioned how he has 2 kids that he rarely speaks too....the only one I can recall is KYLE. That's the one he had with Diane Jenkins right?

Who's the 2nd child?

I can't help the feeling that the whole GK debacle really tipped the scale in Paul's favor. I mean what else are you going to write after the prior writers went with this whole cheap stolen identity route? The writers hands will then be forced cause they would have to follow up, I would want to avoid that too.

Thanks for replying Cheap!

So is Keemo older than Kyle I'm guessing? And was it a big secret at the time or did everyone know right away?

I am fasicinated by this whole situation because I am comparing Jack to Victor. While Victor is absolutely nuts and a control freak his children for the most love him deep down and have very close relationships with him. Victoria and Nick especially. Abby is getting there of course and Adam is starting to form what I think is a love/hate relationship with his father.

On the other hand Jack is clearly the more lovable and more easy going of the 2 yet we hardly see or hear of his kids. Plus we learn that he's not that close to them. Interesting and a great detail that the writers pointed out today in Wednesday's episode.

OMFG Sharon you klepto loser...

I love this idea and you are correct: pitting Chloe/Billy vs. Cane/Lily could be quite fun. Will it happen? Yes. But unlike your suggestion, it will be COMPLETELY unintentional, lol. But oh well. I'll take what I can get.

The only time Goddard really comes alive is when he is butting heads with Miller or Hendrickson. Khalil? Not so much, as you said in your post. But this could be great fun, so to completely backburner them might not be quite the right answer.

    • Well, Claire did rig Rick's test results, but it was to flunk. They actually managed to get his correct results back after they were thrown into Cedar's furnace...I think? Everyone knew Claire changed them and Rick passed so that rewrite never made sense.   I agree. Pratt always seems "edgy" on screen (and her Locker Room interview prooved that it came from her personality.) I liked Claire causeing trouble and love Meta ringing her beads. Its just too bad that Abby left and they kinda just forgot Claire existed.
    • Oh so they did sleep together. The retcon was just the medical boards? That makes sense. I think Susan Pratt, while a good actress, was just an unlikeable presence onscreen and soaps wrote to that most of the time. There was some potential for more with her when she returned in that stint, as Pratt was at least interesting to watch and caused some conflict for the stifled Bauers. Instead of pairing her with Alan and then disappearing I might have had her hook up with Danny. I think there was a lot of flirtation with Bolger's Philip, but they never crossed the line.
    • I haven't seen Melchior in the role, but it would be astounding if she's worse than Linn. Her rivalry with Stephanie was sidelined IMO because Linn was one of the few actors who didn't have chemistry with, nor raise her game, when paired with Susan Flannery. To be fair, she did show some signs of life in scenes opposite Darlene Connelly, but way too little too late. It feels like Bell finally woke up after the Thorne switchover and sidelined the Kristin character with Mick to 1 or 2 appearances a week. As a result, the show improved by leaps and bounds after she was inexplicably at the center of the show for most of 1989. Margo is so much more enjoyable when not tied to that albatross. Even Clarke is watchable with less Kristin interaction. She can't exit stage left soon enough. As for the new Thorne, I agree that Norcross feels like a Forrester a lot more than Thrachta, even if the latter is a better actor.
    • The cast said that scenes were filmed over a few weeks, with a preplanned hiatus in the middle, and it was all out of order.  I would *guess* that they used Chandler when they could get him? They also had to work around Leo Howard getting married around the time these episodes were filmed, but I guess they worked it out since Tate appeared.
    • Maybe there was a scheduling conflict or something. He still has the full time 9-5 in Atlanta, right? Julie was there. Idk if Maggie’s gonna be a part of it though
    • At this point, the best nonpaywall coverage of Los Angeles (and anything political)  is in...the Tennessee Holler https://bsky.app/profile/thetnholler.bsky.social And as always, emptywheel continues to be consistent https://bsky.app/profile/emptywheel.bsky.social
    • Today Monday was the start of people arriving at the funeral, but the service hasn't started yet.  I know this is the nonspoiler thread but I think it's okay to say (in nonspecific terms) that the funeral episodes span a few days.  I won't detail it more here. Just sayin' keep watching.
    • Why am I only now hearing about what happened in L.A., lol?
    • While I agree that Reeves is Jennifer, I honestly do prefer Cady McClain in the role, as I feel she had/has a wider range of acting capabilities than I feel Reeves has. It's the strength of an actor, ultimately, for me, regardless of how I feel about Reeves' political/social views (which I widely disagree with). Plus, not to mention, they costumed Reeves like an old-fashioned frumpy farm/Moron wife, while McClain had some fashion-forward moments.
    • Wait - so no Will, Jack, or Jen at John's funeral? That’s just weird. What was the point of bringing them back then? Did Julie and Maggie even show up? I mean, seriously.
