I fear you're right about that.

I disagree about Layla, any character can be dynamic depending on how it's written. I don't fault Tika Sumpter (or Susan Misner for that matter). If they actually wrote for her with commitment, she could become a fan fave.

And speaking of Misner, I was quite transfixed by her in Chicago (the movie) and wished she'd been written differently on OLTL, she mighta really been something.

I totally agree with you about the DID scenes in the cage and definitely couldn't have said it better.

I dont see any potential in Layla. Maybe she had some in the beginning but its been so long that she's outlived any usefulnes she had. The character just needs to go. She only remains to fill te show's quota for black charaters and she's a poor representation

The thing about Susan Misner is she was AWFUL on OLTL and the role of Grace was such a dud. Remember JFP's big huge massive Grace exit. She had the biggest exit on ABC in years and who cared. I have seen Misner in alot of guest primetime roles and she has been quite good. I do not think daytime was right for her and of course it was during the time JFP decided to appoint herself head writer of OLTL. OLTL had no head writer for a year. It was JFP at the helm and it was just awful

I really can't handle this emotional Todd that just hugs people and reveals his vulnerabilities and tells everyone how in love he is with Marty Saybrooke. I don't know how to process this version of Todd at all. I'm always a champion for character growth, but this shift hasn't felt very organic for me.

I'm counting the minutes to

. I really can't wait.

It was so random when they showed Talia (and her breasts) and Layla at UltraViolet. Were they even in the entire rest of the episode? Things like this are so jarring when characters don't have story.

Today's episode felt really disjointed and clunky to me. Too much was constructed around this random musical appearance. Rex and Gigi need a real story because this week-to-week mini-story junk is not good follow-through to this buildup of a major couple. Where's the story?! You wanted us to want them together for... this? Sex talks with Shane, mild passing concern for Brody, and a Plain White T's concert? Get these characters mixed up in some other drama... Have Gigi be the one to catch on about the Starr/Jessica baby switch so that she can spill to Marcie and everyone will start to think that Marcie's really losing it. Gigi and Rex need more if they're supposed to be the new "it" couple. The drama's not coming from within anymore, so they need to be stirred up by some drama happening around them.

I can't follow the Vanessa/Lola stuff. Jacqueline Hendy isn't giving me ANYTHING. She looked so put out to be stuck having sex with Cristian instead of going to UltraViolet to get Lola. Um... REALLY? You poor thing, having to deal with rippled, sweaty Cristian writhing on top of you, which is apparently what you've been panting after for months, and you're already over it by the SECOND time you're having sex? Way to castrate your sexual male lead, OLTL. Not to mention it just completely challenges any notion that there is depth or soul to Cristian's character when he's being led around by his penis and Vanessa can't even be bothered to sleep with him a second time, and Cristian's oblivious to all of it.

I wish they were writing Lola as a bigger character than they are. Lola holds Ray's life and freedom in her hands, is the sole motivator for Vanessa, Langston's last connection to her biological family and is apparently falling for her cousin's boyfriend Markko. They just drew a parallel today between Lola and Starr who both have very dangerous and mysterious fathers that they need to testify against... can we get a scene or two between Starr and Lola so we can make that connection ourselves, rather than have Markko spell it out for us? Because I didn't see that at ALL until Markko said something. This is what I mean by disjointed and clunky writing. They could use this to forge a Lola/Starr connection, making it more complicated if Lola compromises Langston's relationship with Markko, and Starr might not be the first to jump to Langston's defense if she identifies with Lola's problems. But there's no efforts to flesh out Lola and for a centerpiece character in a story, she's being underplayed A LOT.

WOW, Natalie's lashing out at Viki tomorrow about making excuses for Jessica's behavior?! THAT'S an episode I want to see! Score one for the previews!

LOVED the end when Janet/Lee made her presence known to Nora at the Buchanan mansion. I LITERALLY gasped and it gave me that feeling of the unexpected twist where the PERFECT tool just drops into someone's lap and sends the story into warp drive. It was a feeling I really first felt when I started watching HEROES. Total adrenaline moment. Janet put Marty's needs for peace and closure above her own fears about Todd, Nora had someone that could put Todd away, Renee's part in harboring Janet is exposed... I was so excited. Wish soaps would do this more. Just stop all the meandering and just MAKE THE DRAMA HAPPEN. Like when John finally found Marty with Todd, it was one of those moments for me.

LOL, JonnysBro, wasn't she washed away in a big flash flood or something? Kevin was just devastated and Kelly too, and Grace's tragic death brought them together and just rippled across the whole canvas. Asa reached out to Ben and Sam, etc... it was so over the top for a NOBODY. UGH.

Today bored me- and OLTL gets some of the worst young actors--- Monday bored me too.

Too much Montez garbage. Just ditch Christian and Vanessa. Waste of money. Waste of time. Completely boring. Do people really care about these two idiots?

Starr and Langston's "conversation" was cringe inducing.

The band? Over the bands too.

The only things I enjoyed were Matthew's scenes (and not because of that GODAWFUL actress talking to him on the phone- Did Frank Valentini kidnap her from a 7th grade play?) and Schyler.

I'm near the point of recoiling when he's on the screen. This is such a confused, demoralizing storyline. Todd endangered his children through his creepy obsession with his daughter's sex life, he manipulated his rape victim into loving him, he tried to steal his daughter's child. Everyone finally sees what a monster he is and steers clear. Todd...jumps off a building and now everything's getting better? Why? No one has demanded Todd get professional help. No one has seriously called him out for the fact that this suicide attempt was only to try to win Marty, not because he's become a better man. Instead, Viki has forgiven him and Blair is letting him see his young children. Why? Is this story ever going to find a focus? Please tell me we aren't actually supposed to believe Todd jumping off a building means he's a good person??

I think OLTL is wise to give them a break for a few months. Their airtime hogging for the last half of 2008 did neither character any favors. Some of FF's bad performances are still in my head. Better to give them a break and hopefully let them get them some more acting lessons than to keep them in the spotlight at all times.

She fell underneath the floorboards of a boat house and stayed there for a full week. Interspersed with scenes of Rae trying to help her, there were scenes of Grace slowly dying, and dying, and dying some more. Very awful to have to get through. The typical JFP vanity project. She seemed to be saying, "You didn't like Grace? Well, here you go!! I hope you're happy!!!" even though no one had asked for yet another young woman to be victimized and killed on our television screens.
