SoapNet Has A Heart About Programs About Kendall Hart

I think she'd be more popular, at least on this board, if she wasn't so overexposed.

I've said this before and I"ll say it again: in the '80s and '90s, Erica was not showcased as frequently as Kendall has been in the last 10 years. It's truly overkill.

Back when Erica was at the height of her popularity AMC was run by individuals who knew how to balance the show and never let any of their characters get too overexposed.

Erica was always just one of the female leads and there were not just 2 of them either. In the early 70's she shared the spotlight with Tara & Ann who were the other 2 main leads with both Ruth and Phoebe getting quite a bit of air time too along with Mary & Kitty.

In the latter part of the 70's, Erica shared the spotlight with Ruth who really got more air time then than the early 70's. Tara was still running strong along with Donna and for awhile still Ann, Kitty, and Estelle too. Also Brooke was really starting to come into her own.

Then the 80's brought Brooke, Nina, Daisy, Donna, Jenny, Opal, Natalie, Liza, Ellen, and Angie who all got a lot of air time along with Erica.

AMC really knew back then how to balance their leads back then. All the decades AMC has had some strong female characters but I think the ladies of the 80's were the best. So many of them bounced back and forth from lead to supporting all the time. They were all great characters and all were very well cast.

Hey Kyle. This is for All the Posters. I think SoapNet is Having This Kendall Hart Marathan and having These Episodes because Kendall who is Alicia will Wake Up and Come out of her Coma. That is why They have Episodes of Alicia Minshew because She is Coming Back and Sarah Michelle Gellar is not the Kendall that will Wake up and come out of her Coma. It wouldn't make Sense to have Episodes of Sarah Michelle Gellar. This is Also Why They are not having An Erica Marathan. Alicia is Returning to All My Children after Taking Time off to be Married and Kendall is Coming out of the Coma. It's not Erica that is Coming out of A Coma or that Susan Lucci had been off the Show and Returning to the Show. Jody

It might be a big deal if Alicia had actually been gone. Most people don't even know she was off work. Since she has been shown during her off time more than many actors who are still working during this time.

So a marathon to celebrate her coming back to the show is stupid.

To celebrate kendall waking up from a coma should have included all of Kendall's story and that includes her story when SMG played her.

And Kendall is Kendall

Kendall is not SMG and she is not Alicia

They are just the actresses who played her.

I just turned this on -- the first episode when Kendall is back in 2002. LOVED this Kendall - Alicia does this character much better than the newer/nicer Kendall. She is just pure entertaining when she's a little evil. I've forgotten how good she was back in the day.

Chris Stamp -- oh god. Mia --- OH GOD.

The old openings!!! Damn, Jacob Young is so hot in this opening...

Oh wow - Erica was having some hair trouble in this second episodes - that frizzy curl do (a la Dixie circa 1999) doesn't work for her.

Mia to Greenlee: "No, I wont let you chase after Ryan. Its ridiculous...its juvenile!"

Greenlee: "Sorry I dont do victim"

Unfortunetly thats something that has changed

yeah Mia reminded me why I hated her. Pretty bad acting there with bad writing.

I liked Juan Pablo and I liked him Greens. Yeah I know Im the only one

Good lord this was back when I REALLY hate Ryan with a passion. Look at him grabbing Kendall, getting all up in her business and demanding to know the truth which is NONE of his business

Ugh I know --- he cannot keep his hands off Kendall - pushing her around, not to mention when she's claiming that she's pregnant. What an ass...And Ryan is still that way today. This was the beginning of THAT Ryan. Once Gillian died, he turned into this...I guess thanks to him getting with Kendall, or the writer? Anyway - it sucks and Ryan has been ruined.

I'll never forget being in Mexico on vacation in 2003 and seeing Juan Pablo in a Spanish commercial...haha.

    • This is a effin shame. Eff Trump and eff the bastards that enable him.
    • I 100% agree but I think this is due to how the show is structured. It's a one family show which means there are no people in her age range that could be used as friends or contemporaries of her. The show definitely needs a second main family. I am glad someone finally said this. Especially now that the cast is gelling in their roles, he stands out like a sore thumb. No energy, no chemistry with anybody. He is just there.  I thought that was odd as well! The previous scene would've worked better as a tag for the credits.
    • That's the one and only Carrie Nye (Mrs. Dick Cavett) as Susan Piper, a deadly realtor. I don't want to spoil a lot if you ever want to see those episodes. She returns as another character in 2003. I think Grant has aged well and he always did a good job at being ripped without going too far, but he was never entirely my cup of tea either. I did think John Bolger was hot.
    • Totally agree. KKL looks great! It makes the Widge groveling so bizarre. Brooke needs to leave FC and with $B's/Liam's funding launch a rival fashion house with Hope, Rick, Katie and a secret designer. The best scenario is that Rick has been absent because he's been with very much alive C2, who is revealed on the runway as the secret designer. It'll never happen because B&B is comfortable just focusing on FC and the Forresters Marones v. Logans. But it'd been so much more interesting if the Spencers/Logans united.

    • Haha that scarf thing did go on a bit too long, very odd. And what a young Rick!  I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I just never got the physical appeal of Grant Aleksander, but he's definitely a great actor. Who is the older lady around the 8:30 mark, and also ends the episode, alone and in pain? She seems like a really interesting character. I love the smoky voice and sultry, snaky vibe she seems to have.
    • I can't remember exactly but I think she lives in or is part of the cottage story with Carrie. Carrie poisons her in this episode.  I forgot Teresa was on the show. (I see that AI is insisting she wasn't - well they're wrong) Poor Maeve. I can how even she had her limits.
    • It pisses me off that the other Duprees are making this incident all about them as well. They are playing a family of victims, acting as if Ted cheated on all of them. They should be supportive, but not like this. I have a family that makes anything that happens to me personally all about them, and seeing the same thing on TV is rage-inducing.
    • There are the makings of good Emmy reels in these past couple of episodes, but the industry is still going to favor even the most mediocre stories and performances on the older soaps. And with the pressure from the government over race I can see the academy shutting out Beyond The Gates to avoid criticism from the administration and the far right media.
    • oh, definitely! It's too bad she hit the start of a rough transition period for the show. She shines, but she's stuck with bad story and some (if not exactly bad) not great co-stars.  Uh, who did Maureen O'Sullivan play? (Sigh--and only if I'd understood exactly who and how wonderful Teresa Wright was in '86) God, the summer of '84 was literally one event after another. Kim's outfit alone must've been worth a small fortune. And poor Maeve. She looks so uncomfortable. Rebecca Hollen told a story on Locher Room where Maeve dropped the f-bomb during the shooting of it. For some reason, she wasn't being listened to, and had just had enough. As a producer, I would've been holding my breath as my pregnant actress kept walking around strange and undoubtably uneven sets in that long skirt.
