DAYS: News on Frances Reid & the Christmas episode

Confirmation came in tonight: Frances Reid (Alice) was not up to going to the Burbank studio for the Christmas episode taping. Mrs. H. will be very missed as the Hortons celebrate their Christmas without her. The last Christmas episode she missed was in 1995, while she was recovering from a stroke.

VERY SAD. :(

I hope they can figure out a good excuse, perhaps Alice is traveling, something happy.

Maggie should be the matriarch now. It's time.

What a shame! Although I am not a DOOL viewer, I appreciate tradition and Alice Horton at Christmastime is a daytime institution! It won't be the same, but hopefully there will be some kind of acknowledgment of Alice.

Thank you for so many great years Frances! Hopefully she can retire and peacefully enjoy her life after giving so much of her time to us over the past 4 decades. That woman is a true class act.

They should have her not be on the show, but show an Alice montage as they all miss her being there for the first time or something, but she's on a cruise or with Bill and Laura as was already mentioned and couldnt get home in time.

Or maybe arrive unexpectedly like when Hope and Bo lost JT... that was SO heartbreaking (i totally cried back then!) and then when Alice ended up there at the end I was like YES - nice touch.

We all can pray that she'll feel strong enough someday to appear. It is too sad to imagine our dear Alice won't be on our screens.
