The rules of soaps usually make it hard for the cops to not come across as a bunch of incompetent boobs but I gues the PCPD on GH would have to be the worst since most of the crimes in Port Charles are solved by a Borgish mob leader and his geeky sidekick

This is a GREAT topic, and one I can't believe has never been brought up before. I can't wait to hear what people think.

I might have to say GH, off the top of my head - only because it's a whole show of criminals. At least I've SEEN people on other shows in jail cells. Sonny and Jason are MOBSTERS and I can't remember the last time I saw them serve any time for anything. Hell, even Stefano DiMera and James Stenbeck have been in jail cells before.

But I could be convinced otherwise. That's just off the top of my head.

I think it's fair to say ALL soaps have horrible police squads.

I'll put Llanview's finest up against any of them as the absolute worst.

they all may be bad but GH is by far the worst.

i wouldnt say GH is the worst just because of the mobsters. it isnt like they dont arrest them, and know they did it. they are jujst great mobsters and dont leave [!@#$%^&*] behind to get caught.

if anything the actuall police on GH are okay, its the scott, alexis, ric part that sucks.

the thing that makes GH the worst for me is the rampant corruption that has been going on for years. From Scott to John Durant to Det. Capelli to Ric and so many others, in many ways hte cops are just as bad if not worse than the criminals. Im sure other shows have law enforcement which have done dirty deeds but Ive never seen any abuse there power as much and as blatantly like the PCPD. They are not good people

AMC's is pretty bad at the moment. Jesse let's Ryan run around beating up on police officers and doesn't do anything about it

Without a doubt, Salem.

Salem's male police officers do nothing but talk a big game and their female cops have historically been the most useless, ineffective, wastes of space ever. If I see Hope Brady get grabbed from behind and tossed around again, I might scream. It's like she's had ZERO police training.

Though AMC has been the land of private investigators for decades, their PVPD hasn't done too bad. Criminals stay in jail or die in shoot outs/stand ups. Derek was an airhead when he became polic chief, but there was a time when he was a compotant detective, along with Trevor.

How great would it be if Amanda tried to break into the world of law enforcement. I think her skewed view of public good would be a fun foil for Jesse.

The PCPD is horrible.
