I honestly don't mind Brad being killed off. The character has been useless for a while and his whole backstory was botched. I can never get over that reliquary thing. I have a feeling Diamont wanted more money during his contract renewal and they said no, and rightfully so. Since Brad is a supporting character that hardly leads any storyline, there's no need to give Diamont a substantial bonus.

As for Graz leaving, he'll be missed, but I'm surprised he stayed with Y&R for so long. Good luck to him, if this is true.

Definitely. They should have just let him leave town or something. It's a HUGE mistake. (Why do I have a feeling Scott Hamner pitched this idea since murder mysteries are his thing?)

Again, how is this going to effect the overall canvas? Brad is not a tentpole character. This isn't like John Abbott's sudden death, which is by far a bigger mistake than killing Brad will ever be.

The cast is too crowded.

If Graz wants to leave he should.

Daniel isn't needed.

As a young viewer, I depend on the younger cast in a way...

I remember there was a time when I tried to watch Y&R but I couldn't get into it because there wasn't any younger cast. No offense to anyone. But this time around, I was able to get into Y&R and I'm loving it. I now want Nikki and Victor together.

I'm anxious to see how this Who Kills Brad s/l plays out in the new regime and how they'll execute it. My biggest gripe with soap mysteries is that the writers never plot them out correctly and the killer usually changes to suit the story than actually creating a true whodonit. If Y&R can pull off a good murder mystery on a soap then they are solid gold. I haven't seen a good saop mystery in a really long time.

Which maligned head writer and executive producer are receiving death threats?

Jean Pissant and Chris Goutman.

—Which actor was almost caught in a compromising position in his dressing room with a male crew member by his soap star wife? He owes a producer a really big favour.

So juicy and I dont have a clue. Well, yes I do...hehe

The effects don't have to be immediate. That's the problem with most of these deaths on soaps. The writers are rarely thinking long term. Whether you like Brad or not, the man has a daughter by Traci, one with Ashley(not biologically but still). He has slept with damn near every prominent woman on the canvas. He feuds constantly with everybody. Brad has been around for over 20 years and while Don Diamont isn't the best actor, his character has history. THAT alone should be enough for the character to live.

I see your point, but my point was killing off Brad won't leave the same short-term or long-term void as killing off Jack, Victor, Katherine, Jill, or someone else as prominent would. Brad isn't and never will be a prominent character. When he was pushed as a leading player during the Latham era, it bombed overwhelmingly.

He has history on the canvas, but so have many other characters that were killed off or written out to never be seen again. I have no problem with someone with history dying that hasn't had a successful storyline in years. People die all the time in the real world, either by illness or murder. Y&R wrote out its original two core families (and those families are almost never referenced on the show anymore) when it was evident that they were no longer contributing anything to the canvas and were gradually fading out through the years, history means nothing if you haven't been properly utilized on a show in years, at least IMO.

True that, but to be fair, LML BOMBED overwhelmingly.

I don't think killing off Brad is a good idea, he has history, he has presence, he's not useless...he's just not an A story character. He's like Neil, he doesn't carry the show and damn if he never will but he's necessary. I wish Don Diamont the best, I think MAB is making a mistake...if it's done well then it will be OK...if it isn't...she'll really regret it.

I heard rumours that MG doesn't like his character being involved with Amber, Please don't ask how do I know I just heard it
I'm not questioning you but I really don't understand why not, he and Adrienne Frantz are BFF's outside of Y&R.

The Suds Report: Dec. 5, 2008

• Depressing news: It looks like Michael Graziadei is indeed leaving Y&R this spring. All my moles tell me, “Michael’s leaving.” Kill. Me. Now.

http://tvguide.sympatico.msn.ca/The+Suds+R...n_NB.htm?isfa=1

Don't throw rocks at me for this suggestion...

Could Blake Berris step in for Michael Graziadei?

Now, both actors share a gaunt quirkiness. Graz is (from what I can see in interviews) much more extroverted and sociable than Berris...but Berris is an actor, right?

Could this work? I'm thinking about an early Nick Fallon scene, where he was doing some trick with a cup. (Anyone remember details?). He seemed kind of slick and confident in a geeky way...

IMDB says Berris is five years younger than Graz...but that would only serve to make Berris closer to Daniel's "actual" SORASd age on the show (i.e., Berris is 25, Graz is 30).

If not, who could replace Graz?
