This union has endorsed every Democrat for years, aside from Hillary and now Kamala Harris. I've seen some of the dead end left talking about how everyone will look back at the optics of her losing this endorsement the same day she campaigns with Liz Cheney. I wouldn't have campaigned with Liz Cheney either, but she could have marched up and down the street with Bernie for 4 years and never gotten their endorsement. There are many tied to the party who may want to shift further away from unions given these leaders (and the dockworker strike yesterday led by a guy who has years of history with Trump). They aren't being given a lot of reason to feel otherwise, even as many members try to fight what these organizations have become.

I see that Politico is trying to stir the pot over Tim Walz's Tiananmen Square comments, claiming that Harris' people didn't know about his misstatements on various topics. Given how very cautious her team has been, I can actually believe this, but I'm not sure how much different it would have made as I'm not one of the people who believe Josh Shapiro would have sealed the deal.

I have no great love for Liz Cheney and never will, but she did put party above country re: Trump and her statement will move a few voters. That's all I care about. She also influences media narrative, as they adore her. Anyone online wailing about it doesn't get that, they always assume an endorsement from an outside party means the candidate will be magically beholden to that party in office. That's not how it works.

Trump's America...

The amount of people who are eating up every word whipping up grand conspiracy theories about federal aid is another of those moments where I am reminded how broken this country is. Trump losing, if he loses (big if...), will be a start, but there is so far to go.

That reminds me of a story I read once about how Alfred Hitchcock, while collaborating with Ernest Lehman on the script for "North by Northwest," wanted the bad guys who were chasing after Cary Grant's character to try and kill him with a tornado.  "But THEY are the ones chasing him," Lehman replied.  "How are THEY going to send a tornado to kill him?"

It's the same, screwy logic that suggests the WH is deliberately lowering gas and food prices because it's an election year; and no matter how times you remind them that the president has no control over such things, they don't believe you.

Honestly, we are such a low-information populace, I wonder sometimes whether democracy is too good for us, lol.

You're convinced barring a miracle that Trump, Elon, and Vance is going to win the election by 2004 or 2016 margins?

2004, no. 2016, I am wary of repeating. It feels so easy to fool people and the same playbook against Hillary is being used against Harris, like people claiming she doesn't campaign enough (it doesn't matter whether she does or not because the narrative sticks in the minds of many). I saw grifters like Cenk Uygur already writing out Harris' loss yesterday while gushing over Trump for going back to Butler, what a turning point that rally yesterday would be in the campaign, and so on.
