Looks like Looney Lauren Boebert's antics don't faze her new district. She won the primary for CO-4.

Of course, there were 5 other candidates, so vote splitting is probably a factor. Be that as it may, unless Trisha Calvarese, the likely Democratic opponent (so far, she is beating Ike McCorkle), wins this red district come November, we are stuck with this loser in Congress.

The GOP loves nothing more than failing upwards. Performative, desperate trash rises to the top, over and over and over.

One bright spot was that shitstain Dave Williams, who commandeered the state party to help push his campaign and ran on platforms like burning the Pride flag, bombed out.

Many of Trump's endorsed candidates lost tonight, although you won't hear the media talking about that. Here's another headcase:

It seems like this only got a mention in US media because the sister and niece of former President Barack Obama were said to have been tear gassed by the police but there have been deadly protests against proposed taxes in Kenya. The President of Kenya has reportedly withdrawn his tax plan. Apparently, there are more protests being planned.

That’s fair. Since independence, Kenya has had a number of protests, some caused by ethnic strife often stoked by candidates running for office exploiting ethnic divisions. The Kenyan police are known for their brutality (a holdover from training under colonialism) which is why many are objecting to Kenyan police being deployed to Haiti which the U.S. is funding.

I don't know about ya'll but I am concerned. Deeply concerned. I don't even know what should happen. Should Biden step aside for Harris or is there too much misogyny for that to even be possible? Can he just hold on until November and then if something happens with his health she can take over.

Anyway, I've missed posting with you all, but I've come down with an illness that leads to a lot of fatigue. I've been trying to stay away from politics for the sake of my physical and mental health. There's no way I can do that now though. I'll just go crazier if I don't know what's happening.

I finally deactivated my FB page today. Watching white people I considered friends slag on Joe Biden reminds me of what it was like watching my white friends from high school slowly become Trumpers. I spent today channeling Maureen Bauer from GL

"You have broken my heart."

This is from six hours ago and he is himself again. Made me smile and calmed me a lot. This needs to be seen by more people. One off moment is not the end.

I've been worried for a while and I was hoping Biden wouldn't debate as while he has moments of strength, he is often (in my opinion) frail and even when you can see he knows what to say, he doesn't quite know how to say it. He has the type of aging that makes people concerned, whereas Trump's own decline (which I'd say is worse than Biden's and is progressing much more quickly) is masked because he has always been a smug moron and his current behavior can be passed off as "fun" or "high energy."

I don't think debates sway elections. I've always thought this would be close. I don't know if this debate will prove me wrong. I don't believe Biden will drop out because I don't think anyone else in the party wants to face Trump, who is the toughest opponent the GOP can give them due to his celebrity, Teflon persona, and his media control. I think they are using Biden as a fall guy and hoping they can run in 4 years. So it's likely going to be what we have now. Whether it's still razor-thin either way, or a Trump blowout...the latter is certainly what the press wants and will do their best to get. Hopefully they will fail, as they did in 2020 and again in 2022.

I just hope any people who can afford to leave this country do so while they still can.

I'm sorry to hear about your illness.

There's so much cruelty and callousness on social media, especially against easy targets. I'm not going to act like Biden is a saint, he has made his share of mistakes and failures, but the glee of some on the left in going the smugbot Jon Stewart route is demoralizing and a good reminder of why they ultimately get so little in life beyond "likes."

I wrote this elsewhere, and it is not really directed towards anyone here. But the overall sentiment stands:

______

Trump killed MILLIONS via his neglect during COVID.

The withdrawal from Afghanistan was ARRANGED BY HIS ADMINISTRATION, including setting the Taliban free.

He emboldened Nazis and White Supremacists.

Look, Biden may not be the candidate many want, but if voters can vote for the creature that did the above AND is now a convicted felon?

We DESERVE to suffer and lose democracy. Sometimes, choices SUCK.

But if ANYONE thinks getting Trump back will fix anything and NOT ruin the nation [and end Medicare and all women's rights, etc.], I got a lovely Brooklyn Bridge to sell, cheap. At least if Biden does die, God forbid, I would still feel safe with the cabinet he chose. Can you say the same of Trump?!

Wake the hell up. Start thinking of YOUR interests and not rely on soundbites and image. Too much is at stake.

    • Thanks for the fuller story.  Steve Guthrie was a loss to the show, but I can't really blame Nicholson.
    • Albee clashed with co-star Lee Godart, who portrayed villain Eliot Dorn . At the time, the Edge of Night cast participated in a charity baseball league with other New York-based soaps. Albee, an American, was very competitive about the games, whereas Godart – a French actor unfamiliar with baseball – was not as skilled. Tensions reportedly flared when Albee berated Godart’s athletic performance and even mocked his nationality during these games . Godart took offense and complained to the executive producer, who warned Albee to stop harassing his castmate . Albee either ignored this warning or didn’t take it seriously, and continued to needle Godart. As a result, when Albee’s next contract option came due, Nicholson chose not to renew it – effectively terminating Albee’s role on the show
    • I can't remember exactly, but I think the claim was it involved a team baseball game.
    • Sorry to hear that - take whatever time you need.
    • @MaximI sing this in my head so dang often!!!!
    • Not as caught up as everyone else but I just wanted to add, the show being played for laughs is gone and I’m happy about it, that’s exactly how the show was during the strike.
    • I love the early years of GH.... Does anyone know where I can find information of the stories from 1963 and 1964??  Thank you!!

    • Uh, yeah, huh?!!! Seriously, that was a brilliant line but its acumen is strictly from how hilarious. We imagine Joss in Carly's kitchen breaking the news that she's realized she's gay & Carly is unconcerned & then drops that it's Emma she's in love with ... time comes to a screeching halt!!! I think Moss would likely be thrown hard against the wall. Can you imagine Carly & Robin as mothers of the brides together?
    • @DRW50 Thanks for these.
