All I care about is getting KBJ confirmed before Thomas dies. If he dies before that then the GQP will go buck wild. Once she's on SCOTUS, he can head to the crossroads.

If Thomas' seat goes, the GOP would do anything short of another 1/6 and possibly that to try to prevent the seat from being filled.

But no, Thomas being ill is definitely not the GOP's plan.

True. The Thomas affair is a whole other mess to contend with.

At the very least, the performative foolishness having to do with the  interrogations involving the confirmation process have ended.

From the Hill, an even more perplexing (and IMO not rosy-sounding) take:

Quote

Thomas’s close friend Armstrong Williams on Thursday told The Hill that Thomas is “resting and he’s going to be just fine” but declined to elaborate further on the justice’s health. Pressed on whether Thomas was still in the hospital, Williams declined to answer.

“It doesn't matter. He's resting and doing well,” he said, adding: “I don’t think the public cares about where he’s resting — it’s that he’s resting and he’s doing fine. I think the media cares about where he’s resting. The public doesn’t.”

If Thomas goes, they'll claim Biden had him killed. Just like they claimed Obama killed Scalia.

This is a ever evolving scandal.

Armstrong Williams. There's a name I hadn't heard of - and didn't want to hear of - for many years.

The arrogance of popping up to say "He's resting and we're not going to tell you  where because...um...boo media!" says it all.

If, say, Breyer's wife had been involved in anything - even went jaywalking - the GOP would have impeached him and thrown him off the court. Yet Ginni  can do everything but clobber a police officer - she could probably even do that - and no one cares.

First, Clarence is sick and in the hospital; and now, Ginni's been caught conspiring to overturn the election.  Coincidence?

The timing of these revelations is extremely interesting for sure.
THAT SAID, Ginnie Thomas had "volunteered" just two weeks ago that she had "briefly" attended the 1/6 rally but left early because "it was cold". It felt like advance damage control then so I think she knew this was coming, before CT fell ill.

The talking points castigating Democrats over impeaching Clarence Thomas (even though they haven't even said as much) and/or doing the whole "How can you criticize him for his wife's actions?" routine have already lined up, from Richard Dreyfuss' very weird son, and stuff like this:

Don't get me wrong: Clarence is likely just as big a MAGAt as Ginni is.  But let's be real, folks: the only reason Clarence married A white woman, let alone THAT white woman, was to further himself professionally.  So, IF his wife somehow proves to be undoing, at least as far his career goes?  Well, Anita finally got her justice.  Maybe not when any of us WANTED it to come, but certainly right on time.

And to think Ginni once left a message on Anita's voicemail, demanding that she apologize for her testimony.  The nerve of that heffa.

The insanity of all of these is almost cartoonish. These people got so desperate that they left receipts all over the place or they were so confident that they didn't even think about how sloppy they were being (it's a combination really).
