Yeah, somebody I follow on Twitter (and subsequently have muted) keeps swearing up and down that the Dems are driving never-Trumpers back to the GOP. The truth is that never-Trumpers are still Republicans. They like the policies. They just want them with a little more finesse.

Exactly. Remember how the Tea Party were so new and different from your usual Republicans? And then they turned out to be the same (only even more insane)?

It's just the same rotting fruitcake with different, ever-cheaper wrapping paper.

I feel so old seeing this horrible, horrible era already pushed into movies.

W did not deserve to have Sam Rockwell playing him.

and I feel a bit ashamed for finding him hot even in that role...

I just have no interest in reliving that era when things are even worse now - nor do I have any morbid interest in how Christian Bale has once again mutated his body to do it.

  Seriously, no thanks to any of it.

The best part to me was the song. It's terrific.

I will say going from reminders of that era to my phone being corrupted by you know who was incredibly depressing synergy.

I will say this: The trailer is great, and Adam McKay's The Big Short was exceptional, smart, angry work in this vein. So okay, I'll go.

They still don't have the votes.

Jinx!

If this goes on much longer I think they will pause and then use this as a GOTV tool to motivate extremists and bigots and woman-haters.

It's probably what their best move would have been all along.

I read and I can't find it that some of Judge's testimony is damaging. Take that for what it's worth  it doesn't really mean anything

But Collins was very specific a few days back about hearing from Ramirez and they are not interviewing any of the people who might be able to verify or at least support parts of her story.

I agree. Because as it stands now there is more vile dirt on Kavanaugh coming out by the hour - it's endless, I'm kind of shocked. Easier to use him as a martyr to the right wing base than to try and confirm him. IMO if they still don't have the votes after his enraged Trumpian showstopper on Thursday, they'll never get them.

I read that Trump's favorite Faux and Friends show was chiding him about the way he spoke about Ford at his last rally, so I wonder if that may have buried this in the Senate even further.

Yet, Kav and his defenders claim all this investigating is unnecessary, because Kav has had to undergo six background checks in the past and not once had he been flagged.

And really, the stuff that I've read (and IDK, it's been ten minutes, so there's probably a bunch more that I haven't read) isn't bad in and of itself.  But Kav MADE it bad, or worse, when he chose to lie about, mislead everyone and/or cover up everything.  If he had just copped to the assaults while admitting everything else was accurate, this might have blown over for him.

If F&F actually had the balls to criticize Trump, then yeah, I'd say so.  No one has the power to sway Trump's opinion about anyone or anything EXCEPT Faux News...which is just so [!@#$%^&*] sad.
