Members DRW50
The people who went nuts over "Melanie" instead of "Melania" are examples of why I won't be surprised if Republicans do better than expected this year or Trump wins in 2020 (if he runs again). There's so much obsession over even the smallest things involving him that any oxygen for any other topic goes out of the room.

Members DramatistDreamer
In the meantime, the likes of China and Russia are running the show. The U.S. might as well hang a shingle that reads "United States of America For Sale to the Highest Bidder" at Immigration and Customs at every international airport. Between this and the U.S. already acceding to Chinese, er North Korean demands that the U.S. and South Korea stop their military cooperative exercises, Trump and his cabal are more than prepared to put U.S. concerns at the bottom of the list, just so that he can claim that he secured some sort of a "deal" no matter how adverse the consequences for the U.S. His "trade war" bluster was always nonsense but his exit from his idiotic rhetoric has been about as graceful as a cow on ice. All it proves is that, without a doubt, China owns Trump (and likely Russia and perhaps certain emirs and sheikhs too).
Members DRW50
I'm glad you always keep us (or me anyway) on top of all this stuff. What gets me is I have a feeling he's going to end up being harder on the EU than he is on China, which will just poison another relationship for many years to come and let them move on without us. I have my issues with the EU, but we need some kind of allies. Trump likely thinks he can just pit these blocs against each other for his bidding. That isn't how it works.
Members Juliajms
Another shooting that seems down to a guy not getting the woman he thinks he's entitled to. Our society is so sick right now. Edited May 20, 2018 by Juliajms

Members DramatistDreamer
Dan Rather tweeted about this yesterday. He said that Trump won't be able to bluster his way through and that's what has him nervous (I'm paraphrasing). We all know that Trump is about posturing but not about the real work of leadership or governing. Also, he likely knows that the Chinese (who are no doubt advising the North Koreans) are much smarter than he is and that will be proven within five minutes of any summit meeting. Joe Manchin (whom I've never been much of a fan of) must feel good at hearing the news that Blankenship is entering the Senate race as a third party, probably solely with the aim of siphoning off GOP votes. Members DRW50
This jumped out at me. https://www.politico.com/story/2018/05/21/bernie-sanders-democrats-2018-599331 Two weeks ago, the group’s board of directors nixed Turner’s attempt to install her personal political consultant and friend as her chief of staff, even though the person had no experience in political organizing and had praised President Donald Trump repeatedly and attacked immigrants on Fox News.

Members Juliajms
Coming after the few safety nets this country has is despicable, especially after that tax bill that benefited the rich so much. They R's are so relentless about it too. They are determined to screw the poor.
Members I Am A Swede
"Despicable" hardly seems sufficient. I just can't understand how they can justify this to themselves. They must be completely devoid of empathy.
