Amazing to me how desperately they've been focusing on Walz (which hasn't penetrated voters beyond the right wing bubble, despite media attempts to float it). They've still got no real consistent material on Harris, the top of the ticket.

And the attacks on Walz are so pitiful and, yes, weird. They keep claiming he lies about stuff no sane person would lie about. Claiming he lied about his military service? That was never going to work but now especially not after Arlington. Claiming he lied about how they had their children? Nobody cares. That's their private business. Every attack just highlights their own toxicity. It wins them not a single new vote.

I've noticed they even tried to make a big deal out of his brother being an alleged Trump supporter, which is country-ass dumb, frankly, because who doesn't have a MAGAt or two in their family at this point?

My take: the GOP and the MSM know that Walz appeals to a lot of older, white constituents who'd otherwise vote third party/independent, or for Trump, or would stay home, so they're doing all they can to take that advantage away from the Democrats.

The media has all the talking points in line for Trump so he doesn't have to actually do anything. The historical importance of returning to Detroit for Labor Day rallies doesn't matter to them so they don't cover it. They are much more interested in having that jackass from the Teamsters all over the place to remind us again he is not endorsing the ticket until they give him what he wants. And in the meantime they can just recycle stories about how black and Hispanic voters love Trump now.

I still have PTSD from watching Carnival of Souls on Election Night 2016 so it's both terrifying and very funny to see it used in this context.

They just want people to see him as a liar so anything he says will be invalidated. That's why they were even trying to claim he lied about his dog. It's the type of cheap seats attack that was resonant in the years they, and the media and many consultants that want to burn this country to the ground, so dearly miss (1988-2004). They have never gotten over the reality that many voters tune these smears out. They still haven't gotten over Obama winning in 2012 when the narrative insisted their forever friend Romney would triumph.

A remarkably clear-eyed (for Politico) and not Republican-skewed piece. I still don't think it will be as close as anyone thinks (or claims, to keep turnout up) in the end, but I do think it will be a fight from here to the end.

    • I still see Alfonso Ribeiro as Carlton when Martin gets angry.
    • Not that I want to defend Y&R's writers, but it's not as absurd as you'd think and I believe they plucked it from reality (and then bungled it). The Estee Lauder Companies purchased Tom Ford's brand several years ago and I am willing to bet that's how Jabot came to buy Marchetti.
    • Loved the episode today. looking forward to the fallout. Nubian-Sheila looked fantastic, but I wish the writers would cut back on her overuse of figurative language. I loved the "fix yo mind ministries" line though. The background music during her fantasy confrontation with Nicole was epic.
    • Nothing makes sense on this show. I wish there was a garbage can emoji. That sums up 90% of the show right now.

Jane Wyman return episode was head-to-head w/ Cheers season 8 finale. Falcon Crest broadcast syndication began Fall 1986, which overlapped w/ Oprah going national. AFAIK cable broadcasts were Lifetime and Soapnet. I have no memory of cable broadcasts on TBS, TNT, TNN, E!, FX.
    • After today’s rushed and abrupt exit for Summer I immediately realized that Josh & Co. were very blindsided by AL’s decision to leave.  Not the first time this has happened to JG either; see MM & HK’s exits in 2021, MM’s exit in 2022, and of course TSJ’s exit last year. Obviously JG and our executive in charge of nothing Steve Kent don’t have a good handle on casting disruptions. And Mariah having an offscreen affair is [!@#$%^&*] ridiculous!! Meanwhile Tessa’s blonde hair is overkill with the number of blondes on the show already. I said the same thing 3 years ago…of course it was utterly ridiculous everyone was mad at Sally for getting Summer he dream job (don’t ask lol) but there was so much the show could have done without bringing on the Marchetti angle.
    • Does the ball on GL where Philip revealed that he had forced Alan out of Spaulding count or was that not Philip's idea?  There was a ball on AMC where Adam revealed that he had bankrupted Palmer, I think (or was it the other way around?), but I can't remember who threw that.
    • Thanks for honoring Ruth Buzzi. She was a treasure. I'm glad DAYS let her have some fun. I remember Imogene Coca complaining about ATWT just giving her a drab guest part.
    • It's such a delicious set of circumstances that I'm actually a little surprised that I can't think of ones that exactly match. I've just got a couple of close but no cigars (the reveal wasn't public, like when Alexis told Dominique at her and Garrett's engagement party that Garrett lied about being married; or the revealer didn't come up with the idea of the party). Maybe I need to think some more about it.
