You're right, @Vee it's disheartening to read but thank you for keeping up with it.

Mike Garcia is a far right extremist. I don't know if that district just loves him personally, or he's great at constituent service, but I wonder if running the same candidate against him three times is another reason.

I mostly just feel bad for the candidates who had to often run with little help from some of the more dubious pols at the top this cycle (not Pelosi - I mean people like Maloney) and lose by narrow margins, but yes, it could have been much worse.

In more amusing news...

I'm sooooo gonna laugh my ass off if Kari Lake loses. All that time getting a vacuum and making sure no bread crumbs or pigeon poop are on the carpet for nuthin'.

What is it with books, man? Seriously. Now this dude wants to talk about how he really felt the day of January 6th. Pppppffffftttttt. Next. I hope this book sells as much as (or as little as) Meghan McCain's. Yeah, I get that it's all about $$$, but if one really cares about the safety and the well-being of their life or the lives of their family, they would have expressed or been vocal about that earlier. I dunno. I just find this preposterous.

This is her third time losing. I don't know Christy Smith but honestly did the DCCC recruit her to run again? And if anything maybe Maloney losing was a little bit of karma.   I was not at all on board with them spending money on election deniers. And he kind of did Mondaire Jones wrong.

I am bummed about the house but initially I didn't expect it. Those in districts that wanted normal and voted for these people will get what they didn't want. Dysfunction. Unfortunately their bad decision impacts all of us.

Regardless of who wins the House, if the majority is only 1-2 seats, these next two years are going to be ungovernable. First, Congresspeople miss votes for lots of reasons. If McCarthy follows through and gets rid of proxy voting and forces members to be physically present to vote, guess what's going to happen when a couple of people's flight's get delayed or cancelled...

Then there is vacancies, due to health, death, resignation, etc.  Vacancies in the House are MUCH more common than the Senate. In fact, I think few people realize, this current Congress has had at least 1 vacant seat almost every day. Hell it started out with a vacant seat because someone died between the election in November 2020 and when Congress was sworn in, in January 2021.

Then there is the split between the MAGA wing of the GOP and those the more moderates that aren't' nut jobs.

If I was the Dems, I'd be looking at the Alaskan legislature. What happened there was even though the Republicans have the most seats, because their party was so split, the Moderate Republicans formed a coalition with the Democrats and they've had a majority for a few years now. That's what I'd try to do, those Republicans that won in CA and NY in areas that Biden won, they likely going to lose their seat or be primaried by the MAGA wing in 2024 anyways. Make a few promises to them, find a moderate that can be a caretaker speaker for 2 years. Otherwise it's going to be a HOT mess.

    • Where do you discover this crazy rumor??
    • Jill Farren Phelps was always very skilled at saying what she meant onscreen in the bluntest way possible, like whenever she wanted fans to support one character vs. the other (hence Megan McTavish groaning about having to write Kale Browne's Sam Rappaport into three days a week at OLTL). Perhaps you should consider doing the same. Historically your intent is always far more obvious than your efforts at coy embroidery anyway. You believe people are dismissing Phelps' accomplishments, and suggest misogyny and fan blinders allow people to too easily pigeonhole and dismiss her skill set. I think we all understand her varied skill set. We're saying it's not enough to make up for her deficiencies as a storyteller and creative. JFP was undoubtedly a skilled technical producer. As a solo storyteller, and de facto HW, she was a repeat and predictable failure. She was not the first or last EP (male or female) to think she was a writer. If you want us to stop taking your behavior personally when you suggest misogyny is at play in board opinions of JFP, perhaps you should consider spending the next 10+ years here not acting like you're the only one who gets it.

Melissa was here today & we went to Michael's Crafts & Ofc Depot. In Michael's there were two beautiful LITTLE girls who kept staring at me, so I gave them a littel wave & very quietly said HI & then did back. I told Melissa they were staring at me. She smiled & said "Purple. A lot of little girls love purple & you forget but you have purple hair. Seeing you their whole imaginations are transformed! Thinking "That lady has purple hair. That means I can have purple hair! They had no clue before seeing you that it was possible." I just laughed & laughed.
    • This opening scene is hilarious...it's like someone wrote out the script for Philip with one hand. And Rick...sniffing a scarf over and over. And in their next scene they are still sniffing the [!@#$%^&*] scarf as the camera stays all over Philip's bare chest and armpits as he keeps working out. Insane stuff.

Bay City better be ready, because I'm back!   At Vicky's apartment she is once again drowning in doubts and jealousy. Deep down she realizes that her dream wedding will be a farce and nothing can change that. Bridget tries to calm her down, but the heroine is determined to suffer. She is not hearing any positive thoughts. She doesn't believe Jamie will marry her. At the Cory Publishing building another farce is in process. Iris, once again pretending to be the angel of love and sisterhood... is telling Mac and Rachel some wonderful news. When Iris has good news, you really need to look out for yourself. That's when things are bad. So what are the news? Miss Devil has put Amanda up for an award! Mac is smiling from ear to ear, and Rachel is suspicious. Maybe that's the effect Iris is looking for. To once again accent on the fact that Rachel doubts and criticizes her daughter. Iris will do anything to destabilize their relationship. She is like a cancer. Back to Vicky! Jamie is at the door. Looking like a sad puppy, he has come with a surprise. No, he is not gonna leave her and her unborn... Not yet. He has bought her earrings. Sad face. How nice. NOT. Victoria, of course... manages to break one of them the moment she touches it. Bad premonition maybe? She was back in hysterics. It's not easy to trap a man into marriage. Then you have to live with someone that didn't want you in the first place.  We were introduced to a new character (to me at least she is new) - Cass's sister - Stacey. She is giving me "hidden skeletons in the closet"-vibes. Love a girl like that. Stunning actress. I like her. The highlight of the episode was the strange and creepy reveal of Evan the escort... hugging someone named Janice's grave. I remember she had an issue with Rachel... and Rachel killed her in self defense I think... It was hinted in prior episodes, but I lack the context and story. I just know that everyone at the Frame house was mad that Rachel killed the bish. But I also got the impression that this Janice was sick in the head. So Evan is now talking to her grave and telling her he is going to ruin Rachel's life basically. Oh, Evan... I liked you better as a sexy gigolo.  Overall - 10/10 - how can I rate it lower when I haven't watched in months!!!

    • Once again, Marlena and Kayla were used very effectively and I couldn’t be happier.  Marlena counseling Johnny and then Chanel was the best part of today. They’re really delving into the human emotion of this storyline and I think that’s a good thing. It feels so much mature than it was before. EJ’s fear about what could happen to Johnny if he doesn’t let go of his anger could lead to some really good storylines in the future.  I also really appreciate the way that Paula/Jeanne are mixing it up and having different characters interact with each other. It was nice to see Shawn and Johnny remember that they’re cousins and share a scene together. I liked the parallel that was drawn between the two of them, and what’s going on with their fathers. I did have mixed feelings about everything with Cat though. I enjoyed Chanel warning her about EJ, mostly because it played into the way that she was written today. But I wasn’t the biggest fan of the Chad/EJ scenes. The two of them discussing Chad’s potential feelings for Cat didn’t really keep my interest.  But above all, I feel that everyone is being used more effectively and that we’re getting a better understanding of everyone as well. And that was exactly what Days needed.
    • It's a wild story for sure, especially the final conclusion (and fireworks offcamera, like Victoria Wyndham tearing into Michael Logan).
