I've not heard this, but it sounds intriguing. Phoebe Buffay--Phoebe Tyler Wallingford Ross Gellar--Ross was a character related to Palmer and Adam, Gellar=Sarah Michelle? Monica Gellar--can't figure this one out Chandler Bing--Obviously the Chandlers are a big family on AMC Joey Tribbiani--no connection here either, other than Jake used to be Joey Rachel Greene--Janet Green? Help.
October 23, 200817 yr Member I know that the creators of FRIENDS were big AMC fans. They even wanted Joey to get his soap acting job on AMC but NBC wouldn't allow them to use a rival network soap like they used DAYS.

Yeah, but they still managed to make that episode when Joey tried out for the role of Nick the boxer while he was teaching acting. Hilarious! And then when he was fired from DAYS, Gunther told him he got killed off of AMC.
October 23, 200817 yr Member Dont forget that Monica and Chandler's twins were named Jack and Erica And the off camera couple that "fake numbered" Monica and Chandler on their way back from their honeymoon were Greg and Jenny.
October 24, 200817 yr Member The A&E Bio on AMC I believe said that the creators of Friends were huge AMC fans and did it on purpose "I know that the creators of FRIENDS were big AMC fans. They even wanted Joey to get his soap acting job on AMC but NBC wouldn't allow them to use a rival network soap like they used DAYS. " I remember someone on here said once that if they had made him go on AW (which actually filmed in New York so woulda made sense) it woulda become so popular it would have never been canceled LOL
October 24, 200817 yr Member Yeah, I read an article about this in a soap mag years ago, it's definitely not a coincidence. I know! Joey should have been on Another World!
October 24, 200817 yr Member I don't think Friends caused this huge amount of additional viewers of popularity for DAYS so I don't think it would of helped AW. I was thinking that the same Monica could of been chosen because it you combined two characters from AMC - Mona and Erica you get Monica.

I was thinking maybe that was their one GH reference. I don't think Joey being on either soap would have helped with ratings, but for the sake of accuracy, it would have been nice to see him on Another World. At least AW got a shout out on The Golden Girls. Edited October 25, 200817 yr by SFK
October 25, 200817 yr Member The AMC trivia book also confirms it's no coincidence. " don't think Friends caused this huge amount of additional viewers of popularity for DAYS so I don't think it would of helped AW. " Yes that's why I foudn the insistance by a certain poster to be beyond silly
October 25, 200817 yr Member They did mention Another World. After Joey lost his job on DAYS he had an audtion on Another World as a cab driver.
